I'm not a straight covers fan generally really, there needs to be a personal message and/or reason why the artist has chosen to sing perform a cover of a particular song; or they need to bring something completely new to it for me to feel it's worth buying into anyway. I have mixed feelings about Darius's chameleonic diversity myself - on the one hand it displays a versatile talent which I suppose is good if you want to adapt yourself to different things, but on the other I think it can convey insincerity in his work/what he's about judging by some of the comments people have made to me about Darius being "fake" - i.e. WHO IS HE"??? :D ... So, I'm not sure, in a music sense, whether it's good for him to mimic and dip in and out of such different styles so readily really. But anyway, back to the covers - have you had a look to see if the set list from Maidstone was posted on .net? I know Meg (and others) posted it on Divas at the time, so I imagine it was posted on there too. The spoof covers are sort of better than just covers in a way to me, because the lyrics are unique

Queen were/are my favourite band/live act of all time, but I have to admit that was largely down to the vocals, presence and charisma of Freddie Mercury - he is totally irreplaceable for me. At the same time, I do think that Brian May & Roger Taylor are very talented, a part of my love for Queen was for their music and they were responsible for writing and playing some of what I enjoyed, it wasn't only Freddie's songs that I love afterall. So, it seems a shame that because Freddie died, it's been hard for them to continue doing what they are good at and love and can't go on to write/record new music - it's a difficult issue though and I'm wondering if, perhaps you're right Tilly - maybe a different name would be more appropriate for their next chapter.

I find it strange now, why some get pulled whilst others stay and wonder what's behind that as it is? but I agree it sounds like the death knoll is sounding on freedom and diversity altogether :( edit: Mind you one of the top rated videos on YouTube right now is THIS ONE re: Save the Internet - so maybe we should be concerned about the freedom of the whole thing and not just the music, though maybe that's a topic for another forum ;)

Jimmy Nail? :lol: - I've not read that anywhere and it's never occurred to me listening to him, that Paolo's anything like Jimmy Nail either, I quite liked Crocodile Shoes though - the album and that TV series it came from - I enjoyed at the time :D But, for me, Paolo's got a much better singing voice, he's sings with a lot of soul - has a soul-esq-bluesy feel to his music and voice. He sounds like Marvin Gaye on Loving You to me - but very different on other tracks too - so, I think he's got a distinctive and unique sound really, especially live, due to the Scottish accent being very prevalent. Most of the reviews I've read, have been positive and he seems to be doing well charts and gigs-wise at the moment anyway - but whatever, the best way to decide whether you think he's any good, or who/what he sounds like, is to listen to him yourself, not read reviews - good or bad :)

Mine is capped Meg, or at least it was when I signed up to it - 2GB monthly - I know that, because I was worried whether it would be ok, having no clue what my useage was/is -but I've never been cut off or charged more, so it must have been alright.

I'm on NTL cable broadband, which I believe is capped - had it for a year now and never had any usage or connection problems at all.

Thanks for your post, you make some interesting points. Some sentiments I agree with and some not, but overall for me I think it's everyones problem. The killing of any people is wrong, no matter where, how or why it's happening, or what label is applied to it, so I think we're all responsible and have a duty to preach non-violence of any kind.

What happened to this? - Did it just get forgotten about, or did you decide not to carry on with it Baytree? Weren't you going to combine the results of this one, with other era covers to come up with the all time favourite Darius cover?

I haven't seen Darius live since Jan 05 .... seems like eons ago - so anything would do, I'd just like to be able to go :P :lol: But, if I'm being idealistic, then I'd love my 2 hour + Darius special that I designed on Divas agees ago - a full band monty rock-type gig in the open air on a sunny afternoon; and as night falls, a mellow-chilled acoustic session in the same place - under the stars :wub: - ALL of his songs, including those we've never heard live before please :D
