The Dualers - official chart contraversy
Booting one out, isn't the same or as complex as adding previous week's DQ sales figures back in though is it? - Has it ever been done that way around before do you know Paul? Maybe I'm not thinking straight, but even that option doesn't seem fair or right to me, because surely that means that their total for their best potential week gets split into two weeks. I realise that there may be some more sales in the second week and the previously DQ'd sales would boost that second week total, but unless by some miracle thousands more people get to hear the song, like it and buy it and without nationwide airplay etc... I wouldn't think that's very likely (hense the 2nd week drops with previous singles), then most of their sales will have been made already - and the actual second week sales are going to be significantly lower ... so, even if they added the DQ's in - surely it means a lower chart postition in each of the two separate weeks, than the original combined first week chart postition would have been? ... I hope people can understand what I'm getting at - I know what I mean in my mind, just finding it hard to explain in words/typed  - am I making sense to anyone apart from myself? I wouldn't completely rule out conspiracy theories, because all sorts of things can and do happen where power and money are involved, but at the same time, I recognise and accept that the OCC have a job to do - or at least someone needs to police the charts and hopefully ensure there's no fiddling  - but this end of week sales issue - particularly Saturday and next working day rule is a real spanner in the works of a fair and just investigation isn't it  Have the investigations yes, but no time to resolve investigations into what is the busiest sales day; and so automatic DQ sales only on the grounds of unproven suspicion seems suspicious in itself - even if not suspicious - it's simply ludicrous  and potentially very unjust for any artist in that situation if it's demonstrated too late, that there hasn't been foul play. The only solution I can think of for that, is for the chart run down day to be changed. In fact, I'm sure there used to be a chart run down years ago on a week day - maybe a Tuesday? ... can't remember properly, but I seem to recall gathering around someone's radio at school to listen to the chart run down and I definitely didn't go to school on Sundays. Did the official chart run down ever used to be on a week day? - or was that some other kind of chart?

The Dualers - official chart contraversy
Was there a This Morning appearance recently Lou? - I thought from what you'd told me it was one from a good while ago that never actually happened - confused? As for the GMTV clip that you sent to me - I wouldn't class that 30-sec flash-ad as an 'appearance' - if that's what you're referring to - but either way, I don't think they are well known or that their single was known about generally was it? I'd never even heard of them until Lou posted something about them on dariusmusic.net last week - but I'm glad she did 'cos I like them :D Whether people like them or not though, isn't the reason I posted about it on here - I just knew there were some chart knowledgeable peeps around here like Robbie & Mikey, who might help me to understand what seems to me, to be a travesty - not just for The Dualers, but for any band that are unsigned and trying to be successful - like I said above, it seems a bit like a catch22

The Dualers - official chart contraversy
Thanks for the info Robbie - it's interesting to know about things that have happened previously and what the OCC can do etc... From what's been said here, I can't say that I really understand why, if record sales come from a small amount of outlets, that should automatically mean they are "suspicious" though? Obviously, if a band are operating independantly without a major or large record-label's distribution powers, then the likelihood is that they'll be limited to a small number of outlets surely? Also, without radio/tv/nationwide exposure, they're more likely to have sales concentrated in the areas they are know and play locally (like the Scottish band mentioned) ... how is that "suspicious"? - it seems pretty logical, that these things will be the case to me  - It seems like a catch22 for artists in this circumstance  It just doesn't seem right to me that simply having "suspicion" - particularly based on something like the above, means those sales can be discounted end of? ... I could understand a 'suspension' pending proper investigation, something of that nature - the report will obviously be of interest, but what good will a report do, if these sales turn out to be genuine sales?

The Dualers - official chart contraversy
I hope CliveR from The Dualers' official site forum won't mind me quoting him here - but I'm interested in this, because I've only just found out about The Dualers myself this week, liked the song and so I downloaded it - I've since found out a bit more about them and it seems whatever they have managed to achieve, they have done so through their own sheer hard work, completely independantly- it seems a shame for that hard work and effort not to be 'officially' recognised properly :( I've noted that they've got a chart postition of #61 - but it seems that hasn't included their last 3 days sales or something - all seems very odd to me  So, I just wanted to flag this up over here, to see if any of the chart-knowledgeable forum users we have over here, know whether this sort of thing happens often with unsigned artists, or whether it's unusual?

Bits and Pieces
It might be a great film I've never watched it, so I don't know what I'd think about it really, - from reading about the storyline though, it seems like it has hard-edged-emotive story content, so in that respect maybe people have likened it to Trainspotting? :)

Bits and Pieces
It was the film that Paula Sage starred in Pip, she likes Darius - do you remember her from the Scot Awards? - the articles in these links will probably help jog your memory: Darius Danesh.org and this one from Nina's Darius world - can't seem to link directly to the exact article alone - so, I'll copy the article here instead A bit more about Paula and the film HERE It was first released on Scottish TV - but there's was a DVD released - Amazon

wikipedia
It's not simple or straightforward though is it, otherwise, why isn't Darius just simply a 19 Entertainment artist and listed with booking and website links on their section of the site, like their other artists are. Although connected to Simon Fuller and 19, there must have been a reason why Darius was in the Brilliant stable with Nick. But what it was that struck me really, was that even though Darius has mentioned both Nick Godwyn and Simon Fuller in past things, there's no mention at all of Nick Godwyn on this newly updated Wikipedia entry - So, that felt really strange to me - I wonder why there's no mention of Nick Godwyn :???: :D - There's a wall in this forum somewhere, but it's more likely that Darius has seen the writing on THIS WALL :D

Which is you least favourite Darius song?
The electronic distortion of his voice, is the reason I especially really don't like the 8-Jam CB Remix and it spoils Better Man for me too - it puts me right off listening to it - so we're complete opposites when it comes to the electronic vocals Pip :D Definitely! :D Just thinking now of all the lovely good quality songs we wouldn't have had, if Darius was one of these artists that only put various remixes, other versions of the same song, or stuff that's not as good as b-sides -Darius's b-sides are something I always look forward to - I hope he'll always put new/good songs as extra tracks on his singles - I think we've been spoilt so far :) I couldn't remember a lot of them from just the titles either B.P. - but I went on iTunes and listened to the track clips on there - soon brought back the memories of the songs - I enjoyed doing it that way :D Oh I wouldn't like it - I'd be gutted if he didn't sing the alternative Kilt with a fly lyrics - 'cos I just love it that way

New Kylie Game
oooh eck! ... good job I've got a few more tracks on standby - back to the editing board - I hope the next ones count  I know that Especially For You was a single for sure :D ... not sure about the next one though?

Which is you least favourite Darius song?
I've got them - I don't really think you're missing anything myself though, but I don't know, you might think differently - you can listen to clips of all Darius's songs in the Music - Lyrics section on This Website Here - the two 8-jam remixes are on there but not Colourblind Almighty Mix - which I think is the best of the 3. I'm not crazy about any of them really though :( - Actually, just been listening to the two 8-Jam tracks, the Rushes one isn't that bad - but that Colourblind one, I just really don't like it - that distortion-effect expecially :(

New Kylie Game
Oops - got carried away on iTunes  - I'll edit that out and move them all up one and add the next that was on the list then - hope I get it right this time

New Kylie Game
I'm here :D - You've already got at least one other Darius fan's Kylie list in this thread already y'know ;) :D I quite enjoyed that trip down Kylie memory lane on iTunes just then, anyway, I enjoyed more than 20 when I actually remembered what they were  - So, here it is - my list - hope you like it! :D No.1 - Cant get you out of my head 2 Confide in me 3 In your eyes 4 Slow 5 Redblooded Woman 6 Come Into My World 7 Spinning Around 8 Kids 9 On a night like this 10 I believe in you 11 Step back in time 12 Tears on my pillow 13 The Locomotion 14 Where the Wild Roses Grow 15 Love at first sight 16 Breathe 17 Never too late 18 I should be so lucky (with my rubber-ducky ;) ) 19 Especially for You 20 Wouldn't Change a Thing

Accoustic Gigs.
I wish I could have gone to Butlin's too - particularly as it was the best of both worlds all in one day - an acoustic gig in the afternoon and a full on band gig in the evening - the only way it could have been topped I think, would have been if both sets had been longer - more of his songs - including maybe some we've not heard him do live before :D What were the set lists for the Butlin's gigs anyway, can anyone recollect them? I don't think that's always the case Meg, it hasn't seemed so with some songs, live performances with the band accompanyment to me anyway. I think sometimes maybe Darius's voice suffers a bit dependant upon how much energy/effort he's been putting into performing/covering the stage etc... i.e. I think that he can sometimes get a bit out of puff during/immediately following the more energetic numbers. But generally, how well things sound vocally-compared to the band sounds etc... is down to the sound technician getting the sound levels right I think - Darius shouldn't need to strain, or lose clarity, if the set up is right. Generally speaking it depends upon the actual song to me, whether I prefer to hear an acoustic version, or a fully produced/full band version - for me, often the music and other sounds enhance the song, by helping to convey the meaning of the lyrics, the mood etc... so, somethings can also be lost with a simple acoustic performance sometimes too. I'm not sure now - having read through the thread :D - Originally, I would have said Fauldhouse too and the Century FM gig at Tiger, Tiger in Manchester; and the other similar one hosted by Rock FM (I think it was) in the Preston area - but I'm not so sure now. What it is that rules the Brightstart concert in; yet the Fauldhouse one out? ... I'm not really sure how we're defining an 'accoustic set'? :P

What's the third album going to be called??
Does it eck mean you're "not a true fan" :D - it always intrigues me when people use that term, - I mean what exactly is meant by a true fan anyway? :D I also think the most important part of any album is the music too - and certainly, now that I know how much I generally like Darius's music, whatever was on the cover, it wouldn't stop me from buying a Darius album, of course not. The same would apply to anyone else's album, if I'm already aware that I like their music. I do generally take an interest in the album cover; sleeve designs; the music information; photoshoots; videos and any other artistic work to do with an album era and the artist as a whole though really - in the sense of how well does it reflect their music; the artist themselves; and whether it represents that album era /or convey a mood or sentiment well, or one that particularly appeals to me. I see that kind of creativity as being a part of the 'whole thing' when it comes to an album. The cover, I suppose, being something akin to the shop window - what does it say to you...? - do you want to go inside etc...? An album cover might be the first thing I see, which, if it appeals to me in itself, may then lead me to investigate the artist further, which may in turn lead to a purchase that I might not have made, had I not been attracted by the cover in the first place :) Or, it could be the thing that pushes me to make a purchase I'm wavering over - e.g. When I was a bit iffy about whether I really liked James Blunt's voice and was wondering whether or not to buy his album, the album cover and website design really appealed to me and it certainly played its' role in attracting me further down the purchase road :)

What's the third album going to be called??
Yes, I think that both previous titles were a sentiment Darius wanted to express himself at the time and I expect the next one will be too :) I didn't dislike the Dive In cover, so much as felt something about it didn't look quite right - I remember discussions taking place on the official site, as to whether he'd had a head transplant when it first came out  When I first saw the Live Twice cover, I really, really didn't like it at all :( But I read a post, can't remember if it was by Denie or Battlecat now - think it was Denie, who said that the green background reminded her of surgeons - (like ER or something) and that got me thinking ... I thought about what Darius had said about the Doctors' prognosis for Booth and I looked at the album cover in sort of a new light and began to see it as Darius's (and Booth's) determination to defy that prognosis and do everything they could to overcome the cancer - that's just me and my deep thinking though and probably a pile of tosh! - but, me feeling that, made me warm to the Live Twice album cover afterwards :) Generally speaking though, I tend not to be overly keen on album covers which just have a picture of the artist on the cover - I'm not crazy about the previous two covers either Maria. I actually prefer the back covers of both Dive In and Live Twice, I really do like the reverse sides :D

Which is you least favourite Darius song?
The problem with that is, Darius will never be able to please everyone all of the time, as even the few fans posting on here seem to like/dislike different songs  It's actually really important to me, to feel that Darius is the one that gets to decide which of his songs he wants to release and in what format himself, he's the artist - so he should choose what he wants to express and how - I always believed that he did do - but since what has been said about Kinda Love, I'm not sure exactly how much say Darius has had in these things himself anymore :(

Thanks for flagging that up Pip - very interesting - it's all been completely redone by someone recently hasn't it - it's good Did anyone else notice that it said, Manager - Simon Fuller though? -that sort of relates to what we'd been talking about in the 'Strange' thread - it does seem 'Strange' to see that :???:

Thanks Pip - Good Idea - I'd wondered where the thread had gone at first - but I won't have any trouble finding it again now I've not seen that one one there yet - I'll have to go and look for it - there seems to be more and more being added :D :cheer: - found it ;) If anyone finds any more videos anywhere, please can you post the links in this thread, then either I or Pip, or Penny - can add them to the top post with the others :)
