Has anyone been keeping track of the tour reviews? There are so many. Would it be a good idea to pin even one from each venue just for the record?
  2. Our great Darius would be a shoo-in to play Darius the Great, given his smidgeon of royal Persian blood!
  3. My favourite photos of Darius are the unofficial calendars ones and other casual ones taken by megham, Paul, Pam and many other fans. I hated the early photo shoots when they tried to squeeze him into teen Idol mould. Neither of his album covers show any of his own personality. I loathe the Live Twice one. There were far better ones from that New York shoot.

No, a bit of fresh inspiration is always welcome. Our thread is the Bits and Pieces, not a waffle thread as such because a lot of people resented us topping the forum chart when Darius was under the radar in the US and most folks thought he did Britney, Colourblind and vanished. It's now a loosely related to Darius or rumour thread rather than a chat one.

One of Darius's favorite haunts in Glasgow - the Bay Tree Cafe. :)
  6. I think the intention is genuine enough. My impression is that Darius is very much his own man and doesn't want to go back to being manipulated by a record company. Also, his music has always been from his heart and deeply personal. I suspect many viable songs would stem from his long term relationship with Natasha Henstridge and her two sons. Maybe it's just too difficult for him to share those and he'll need to write new ones. He's also a bit of a perfectionist so will always be prone to tinkering with or scrapping perfectly good songs, better perhaps than many which do grace our charts. Darius's voice is as good if not better now.,so his real fans will wait as long as it takes. Funny Girl took an unexpected two years and that's pushed back the momentum of his nascent film production career with 3 films at various stages demanding his focus now. No idea of the working title but the one starring Orlando Bloom and directed by Mike Figgis is ready for filming now.
  7. I'd played the track over and over but hearing Darius sing it live in Belfast was breathtaking. Just Darius and his guitar and one spotlight on him. Definitely hairs on the back of the neck time. It was quite far into his set and the upbeat songs had got everyone moving and being a little loud, but when Darius sang Mercury Rising, you could hear a pin drop
  8. I see I've got some in my messages. Should I delete them without opening, then?
  9. Double post.
  10. Mrs Ritchie? Lovely girl.

Well Darius wasn't going to do the tour at all, then he agreed to do just under a half of the venues with Natasha, then he rescheduled to do all the Sheridan venues when Chris Peluso dropped out. I don't think we can complain this time. He must have some serious backlog of work to do in the States unless he could do some via the Internet or delegated to others.
  12. Mercury seemed to really blow the budget on Darius' videos excluding Girl in the Moon. Maybe that's why they didn't seem to do much else to promote him.
  13. You didn't miss me then?

Saw a tweet tagging Darius which said knowing Funny Girl was to be shown in cinemas had made her life. I hope that's right. If it's shown in cinemas it will probably get a DvD/Bluray release. Well deserved too!

I'd like to see him as Javert and see him performing Stars live on stage but he could make a good fist of either role.

Colourblind always makes me feel happy especially if it comes on unexpectedly. I loved Dive In too. Either it or Mercury Rising should have been the fourth single.
  17. Darius and Sinead were flatmates around about that time.

Our Darius carries off an army uniform with more style (Guys and Dolls and From Here To Eternity), IMO.
  19. He did sing HMBOMT at his audition in Glasgow but not that version. He sang a fantastic straight version. His voice was great. The question you should have asked is what made him sing that version much later in the process. Throughout the process the judges had made it clear that movement was important for the performances they wanted. Darius hated it. Darius with a range from bass baritone to tenor with a good falsetto was told by one of the judges to show them his full range. With those two things in mind and 10 minutes to come up with an arrangement, it's no wonder that it didn't work out well.
  20. I don't blame Nigel. I blame the editing, the producers' need to have a villain to make it more dramatic. However neither Nigel nor the producers could have known how popular the show would be and how it would grab the tabloid media and celebrity mags like Heat. Their villain got completely trashed. He was back at university but being harassed constantly by the media. His family were targeted too - a reporter even tried to quiz his 5 year old brother in his school playground. It was a horrendous time for Darius. A lesser man would have walked away but not Darius. Nigel and Darius are good friends. They met up regularly in LA.

Hope you see Darius. Hope he hasn't injured himself again. Apparently he was seen at the theatre pre-show but didn't perform in the matinee on Wednesday.

An idea from the Robbie William's forum? I think you'll find that we've had one of those under various names from the beginning of the Darius forum.

According to the director, he's her new Jack. I don't think it will be something we'll be able to see. However, it'll be good experience for Darius as an actor and a producer.

I can see why this project would appeal to Darius. Another iconic role - tick. He loves new challenges. And this one will be really fascinating. It's cutting edge new. Darius has done theatre in the round -almost- in Gone With the Wind. However, Reconstructing Jack will be filmed for 360 Degree viewing, to put the viewer at the heart of live action. At the moment, I think these films are designed for digital viewing using those virtual reality goggles, so the person watching can shift their perspective. I read an article which said that virtual reality filming could be the next cinematic breakthrough but it's at the very early stages both technically and creatively. New cameras and techniques will develop and eventually things will be standardised, I suppose rather like the development we've witnessed in video recording and personal computers. Who wouldn't want to be part of something so challenging? I don't know how big a role Darius will have in the series but I think it's another of those couldn't really turn it down ones.
