Busy week. Ladies Lunch, garden party at Buckingham Palace in his role as ambassador for the Prince's Trust, singing at the Ivy and Funny Girl. I really like the interview at the Ladies Lunch - Darius is so passionate about the good work this hospice does.

I don't think Darius has ever missed a show. There have been audience tweets mentioning him at all the shows this week.

"What do happy people do?" - NICK and the girls. Weird I don't remember that one at all. Does Darius sing or just speak in the scene in which it features?

Done and there are more to come.

There's a solo called Temporary Arrangement. It was written for the character of Nick and, in that respect, I see its purpose but it was taken out of the show during its off Broadway try-outs and didn't feature on Broadway, in London or the film. There's a reason for that.. It doesn't fit with the rest of the show's songs, which are mainly upbeat and/or comedic and it's nowhere near Styne's best. I'll have to hear it again. I was distracted by the dancers when I saw it performed, mainly because I couldn't figure out what their purpose was in that scene. I still don't know. Some day Darius WILL get a good solo song which does justice to his voice. I wish he'd said yes to South Pacific when the producers wanted him for the West End revival a few years ago. This Nearly Was Mine is a great song. I'd have loved to hear Darius singing that even once. Edit - It was 2011. I guess Darius didn't want to take on a long run in the UK when he'd just got married. He did the limited run of Chicago with America Ferrera later in the year.

Thanks, megham. I put my name down at the theatre so I'll wait to see if I'm contacted first.

  15. Thanks, Polly. I wish them well, if they are dating. Usual negativity at the mention of his name but great to see so many red arrows in response.

I'm happy with just his guitar or no backing at all - his voice is that good!

  18. Still can't get them to work. I'm not sure why. It used to be just click and go. Devastating forest fires in Fort McMurray in Alberta, Canada. That's Natasha's hometown. Her family still live there. Hope everyone is OK.

It's not so much Darius because he does sing them very well indeed, but rather the fact there has been a procession of average singers who have jumped on the swing album bandwagon since Robbie Williams' very successful album. My reaction frankly is Really? Not another one ! I don't want to feel that way about Darius's songs. Darius has a great voice and those songs, even his original ones in that style, just don't really do it justice . I'd like him to sing some of the lesser known songs - eg Mercury Rising, Only You, Now or Never to name one from each group. I suspect he'll have to include Colourblind. Live Twice always gives me goosebumps when I've heard him sing it live.

Such as, other than a global drop in the oil price due to SaudI Arabia trying to put pressure on the American shale oil industry?

That's fine. Personally, I'd like him to dump the swing songs, yes, even his own. I'll be really disappointed if his new stuff is in that style. I'd probably buy one copy and file it away.

I have been turned off by the government's negative propaganda for IN. I've listened to/read all that kind of junk during the Scottish referendum. At the moment it's like a tussle between ambitious Tories. Maybe after the Holyrood elections, if Scottish politicians keep their word and run positive EU referendum campaigns, for and against, I may become more enthusiastic. I think the media in the UK fails in its first duty - to inform the public and be objective. There are far too many subjective puff pieces cluttering up those politics and current affairs pages, which haven't been elbowed out by celebrity 'news' garnered from twitter. I hope the EU referendum will do for the rest of the UK what the Scottish one did for Scotland - here politics is as much an everyday topic of conversation as the weather.

  24. What's the secret to playing the videos on Archives and News, please, megham.? When I click on all, I get a page of thumbnails which don't go any bigger when I select one to play ....the play arrow becomes the pause button and I hear the audio but can't get the video because when I click again it just pauses the thumbnail. Do I need to log on to my Facebook account, perhaps?
