  1. There's a tweet today from EddTravers, the artist who drew the first cartoon I posted, saying that Darius signed it for him and it was auctioned for the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice. There's a photo too.

You'd think his researchers or even himself knowing there was a segment about From Here To Eternity, could have used a search engine for the most basic of info on the film. I was brought up watching great interviewers who knew their subjects inside out. Right now, like him or not Piers Morgan is the nearest to them. Alan Titchmarsh isn't yet on the bottom rung of that league. As to his attitude to Darius, my jury is out. When he said "And Darius is in it....", STR started speaking but AT didn't stop, he added something about Pop Idol. For goodness sake when will these people crack open the reality TV box and let him out? What on earth does he NEED to do? He's stepped into the shoes of two of Hollywood's greatest actors in their most iconic roles AND tackled the ultimate musical........ 0pera, BUT of course, coming 3rd in a reality TV show 11 years ago is FAR more impressive!!!!!!

Just watched it on iplayer. There was a nice video intro of clips from the show. It looked very good. He mentioned Rebecca Thornhill too as a very talented actress. He said "Darius is terrific - a fine actor and great singer. He's been in LA for quite a while and has sort of come back to England for this."

Sunday - I hope Darius has a good relaxing break today. He certainly deserves it after his efforts for the show and charity last Sunday.

I suppose you're right, megham. Darius does have a decent top range without going into falsetto. It's maybe not nearly as powerful as his baritone but it still has the richness. I wouldn't talk about that as tenor but maybe technically, it is.

http://www.tribunemagazine.org/2013/11/from-now-to-2014/ Me, I don't get this tenor thing. I dismissed the last review which said he had an exceptional tenor. I thought "That's a neat trick for a bass baritone!" http://www.theatremonkey.com/SHAFTESBURYbooking.htm

'Maybe' is a "nice but average" song in my opinion. It wouldn't be nearly as effective sung by someone with lesser ability than Darius and Rebecca. There's no HOOK. Darius could probably write a far better one for the scene himself.

She should give him leeway in his interpretation like Sir Trevor did in GWTW. Rhett was a hard character, a man's man too but he was mellowed by love and family. His love was equally frustrating and emotions ran far higher than those in the film/TV series of FHTE at least. Darius was ALLOWED to have his head, improvise, react to every thing and person on the stage and SHINE. ONly downside, He didn't have a real showtune in that either. He didn't have many songs AT ALL. Is there only room for one hero in Prewitt's story? Apart from I Love The Army (Ryan), Prewitt and Lorene seem to have ALL of the best solos and duets. What do people remember from the film - Deborah and Burt and Frank Sinatra. The latter two were also key in the famous barfight scene. I really can't think of one of Montgomery Clift's scenes other than when he played Taps after Maggio had been killed. Two original roles with two different knights of the theatre................ and he can't get ONE decent song to let loose on.

Well, it's about time! The FHTE facebook page has at last highlighted a quote about Darius (from the livetheatre review). Strange. I had to edit because my post went up in a much larger font. There must be a gremlin in this machine.

Thanks, megham. Roll on the cast CD. That'll keep me going until I can get down to London. I'm aiming for a Wednesday, although I don't have a foreseeable one yet, so I can see FHTE twice. I know me. First time, I'll miss a lot because a rather tall chap will keep drawing my eye. Second time, I'll be able to appreciate the whole show more.

Thanks, megham. I'm slightly disappointed that the song they wrote especially for his voice range isn't remarkable at all. Does Darius have ANY song he can really let that voice loose on?

Double post. What kind of song is Marking Time?

They had cover rehearsals today. Anyone know who Darius's understudy is?

The illusive Magic radio interview has been found. It's just been posted on FHTE's facebook page. forward to 1.30. 00 for the interview. Not listened yet, just the first little bit. Darius has a wonderful voice for radio. Good grief all those ads would do my head in. I could not listen to a station like that.

The beach scene isn't in the book so the show is only really giving a nod of respect to the film by locating a scene on a beach, while doing it in the director's own way. The public expect to see a beach scene. Darius comes out of the closet! Stop the press?

:yahoo:   Cast Recording DEFINITELY on! Probably by Christmas. Answers given at WOS question and answer session following tonight's show, so directly from the horse's mouth.

Two shows today, for the first time.

Someone asked about the cast recording at the box office last night and was told November. It might just refer to this single though. Although I suppose it wouldn't take too long to record those who can already sing their songs like Robert and Darius did last week and musicians who're already masters of the score.

I think that's why they've chosen Fight The Fight. West End Live was packed and it went down very well there in June.

They're putting out Prewitt's Fight The Fight as a single. Recording it on Thursday. Better hope it sells. If it doesn't we might not get a cast CD.
  24. It just seemed strange unless the Mail regularly illustrates its reviews with these.
  25. I never realised the Mail's review of FHTE featured another cartoon of Darius. Still looks good. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/artic...ght-review.html
