TWEEEEEEEEEET! @DavidwhiteMd: I'm now wrestling with the pleasures of putting together the plans for our cast album for From Here To Eternity! :cheer:  :yahoo:
  2. nice photos but...................... http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/campaigns/br...40715n.22541942 the article makes it sound like Darius was just there to open the proverbial envelope. Typical.

I can't remember this one. I'll leave it to you mods to check and move to the pinned thread if it IS new. http://www.showsinlondon.co.uk/news/993/fr...ty-creates-buzz and then there's this really negative one - they sound like two different musicals. http://exeuntmagazine.com/reviews/from-here-to-eternity/ BUT I think he likes Darius a wee bit.

  6. I'm getting confused now. Have we got this one from theTelegraph? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/theatre..._medium=twitter He's right of course about Warden as a character - riven with duty, efficient manager, not involved directly in the barracks action nor the Congress Club and his affair has to be clandestine. He isn't put upon, no-one would dare, he doesn't hassle anyone else either and yet he commands respect and gets it from officers and men alike. Poor Darius my heart bleeds for him having to play the romantic lead AGAIN, (chases the girl, gets/loses girl), in a new West End Show. It's not often the leading man gets the girl quite so easily in the first 15 minutes though. Sorry, pip. This seems to have gone directly on to the pinned post. Please move my comments to our FHTE thread.
  7. Not that I've seen, megham. Poor Montygirl (Sharon) had a terrible cold . I've been fighting it for days too, although today, I do at least feel semi-alive. She'd have been there for sure otherwise. It'seems Booth must be doing well because HE was there last night and I saw a tweet about him dancing. I think Darius must have sung big band or something in that style from his album because there was another tweet comparing his voice to Cole Porter - probably meant N.K.Cole because Cole Porter had a much higher voice. Strike that last assumption a post on his facebook seems to suggest he sang at least one song from FHTE. What FHTE needs IS to get more of the cast out there singing their show songs. I don't understand why the music was kept under wraps for so long, other than Fight The Fight and Another Language but there was no push to cement those in anyone's head.

I can't see the Herald one, pip - it's behind a paywall because I've read my quota of 3 free articles. (reposted from pinned reviews) I'm getting confused now. I don't think I posted this one before. http://www.classicalsource.com/db_control/...ew.php?id=11466
  11. He made it and he did sing. Phew! Not found out yet what he sang at the concert. I hope he can go home to Bearsden overnight and fly back to London tomorrow for the FTHE show.

Reminds me of that one of the Cambridge Theatre Chicago where the American hated everything about the show except Darius. HE compared Darius to the legendary Broadway star, John Raitt who was also a baritone. To be fair to Mr Hart, I remember reading a tweet about the seats in the stalls having poor leg room and that was written by a lady! I'm beginning to think that those who are familiar with the source material and with Warden's past recognise the stoic Warden presented by Darius. THEY may understand that Darius is acting well in character when he remains impassive in situations where others would betray their thoughts on their faces. It's been Warden's way of coping for so long that he CAN'T just switch it off when he inexplicably becomes attracted to Karen. Others, in ignorance, write stupid things like 'Darius never lets emotion curdle his matinee looks' or conclude that he isn't acting. Shallowly, I rather like Mr Hart's phrase "purring baritone".
  13. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/artic...ick-Kielty.html Arrgh! Will you look at the caption on D's photo? You have... happy couple, familiar faces, helping hand etc and then we come to Darius, who if you remember, is squeezing in PERFORMING at this charity lunch before hightailing it up to do ANOTHER CHARITY CONCERT IN SCOTLAND, and we get yet another reference to reality TV! Hello, Mail journalists ....get real! Darius has NEVER been on the X Factor....... in any capacity.........so your caption is junk. IMHO, it's yet another attempt to keep him in his place.

He looked like a bit of a giant next to Mel C, Matt Cardle and Robert Lonsdale in the radio2 photo. I always think D is very slim but strangely they all look thin as well as short, next to him. I can't find this interview on their site, pip.

Thanks, megham. Caught up with them on iplayer. I thought Robert and Darius's voices worked so well together on the blues duet. It was indeed terrific. I was expecting to hear Robert sing Fight The Fight, so Maybe came as a delightful surprise. I really liked it. I love to hear Darius singing in his proper range. I'm still singing my version of it.

http://theatrelovers.wordpress.com/2013/10...tre-04-10-2013/ I'm going to be out today so I'm hoping I will be able to record Wogan's Weekend on my Sky plus. I've never tried to record a radio programme when I've been out. I hope it works and I hope they sing their blues duet.

Happenstance! Guess what's just been on the telly - the pop idol spat between Simon and Pete over Darius's Let's Face the Music and Dance where Pete said he sang it JUST LIKE Nat King Cole and accused Simon of only wanting the younger ones as his Pop Idols, not wanting anyone over 22. There were in fact only 2 younger singers than Darius who was just 21...............Zoe and Gareth. It's just Darius has always looked more mature than his age.
  19. Have you seen this? https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=539...mp;l=c3cdb09165 Even as a cartoon, he looks lovable.

or does he sing like Nat King Cole? Maybe it depends on the song! http://www.livetheatre.co/review-from-here...esbury-theatre/ It was his tour de force singing Let There Be Love in the Pop Idol concert, in complete contrast to It's Not Unusual that finally convinced me I'd finally found the versatile voice I'd always want to listem to.

Darius talked like Gregory Peck and sang like Robert Preston - hefty comparisons. http://www.seenandheard-international.com/...cal/#more-36408

Glad you and your OH enjoyed the show, pip. I'm still struggling to get down to see it. Mentally, I'd pencilled in last Wednesday's matinee but then found an important meeting had been moved forward a week for the benefit of some official. I'd have skipped it if I wasn't a representative for many others - I hate letting people down. Megham, I saw Sir Tim on the Andrew Marr Show. It was a bit of a damp squib really, although there was one photo of Rebecca and Darius which I hadn't seen before. Why isn't he getting one of the five principals on shows like these to sing SOMETHING from the show live?
  23. I wonder if Darius will get the green light to sing something from FHTE or if he'll sing something from his forthcoming album.
  24. John Owen Jones is apparently also performing at the CIN lunch.
  25. Darius was partying with new friends from the cast of FHTE last night. They were celebrating a birthday.
