  1. I've just watched the video of All You Need Is Love (no.32) from the Beatles tribute, not the one where Darius escorts Dame Shirley Bassey on to the stage - the one before that which is just the orchestra and chorus - and there's a really funny moment when Darius has to chase after the conductor and call him back to present him with flowers. I'm still laughing.

In the mini-series of FHTE there's a scene where Warden joins some Hawaiian dancers on stage. I think it's in the film too, but set at some Hawaiian festival. I can't think of any other opening for his character to do it in this particular show. BTW Stephen Webb was also in the cast of Guys and Dolls back then. I think he played Benny Southstreet. He is very good.

The men in the cast were seemingly being put through their military paces last week. I love the way one described them afterwards - Band of Broken Bodied Brothers. I'm not sure if Darius would have been involved because Warden is the topkick, the First Sergeant, and he doesn't do the drills and square bashing. He's more like Captain Holmes' Aide De Camp.

I'd be disappointed if there weren't at least 3. Prewitt has the Fight The Fight theme and now we know Karen also has a theme, I'd imagine Lorene and Warden would have too, maybe Maggio as well. I think musicals always have duets, so I'd imagine there would be scope for one with Rebecca as Karen or perhaps even the drunk in the road bonding scene with Robert as Prewitt. The departure of Prewitt could open the way for a powerful emotion laden song. Just suggestions. It's a long piece and I guess it depends on how much they want to do musically and how much by dialogue. Whatever genre the music is, Darius has the voice and more importantly the control, to handle it well.

Darius is a deadringer for Cary Grant in one of those photos. I couldn't listen to Another Language because my browser doesn't support it. I've tried to update internet explorer so many times and it keeps saying it's done it but i'm still getting these messages. Computers, eh?

Good review for Clare Teal's "Another Language" which, according to the article, is Karen Holmes' theme http://broadwayworld.com/article/Teal-Sing..._medium=twitter 2 full songs down and both have been welcomed. You're right, Sue, it is all looking good and they haven't even started rehearsals.

I have a feeling that Darius (Warden) will sing at least one of the jazz based songs from the show. In little potted cast histories on his site, Tim Rice writes "Darius' casting is a perfect fit for From Here To Eternity, as not only has he tread the boards in musicals before (Chicago, Gone With The Wind) but in 2010 he starred in the History of the Big Bands Tour, dedicated to the music of the Big Band and Swing era."

It looks like they're drip feeding the publicity stuff to keep the show's name circulating on social network sites and such like. Sir Tim is appearing at a concert with Clare Teal this week. http://harrogateinternationalfestivals.com...e-bbc-big-band/

It's just I didn't see any actor assigned to Holmes or Dayna, the captain. Surely although it isn't a large role, it's a pivotal one because he is the driving force behind Prewitt's "treatment" and he takes his wife for granted so she has an affair with the sergeant. I don't see how you could do FHTE without him.

Me, I'd still like the tour of Live Twice and he can throw in the b-sides too. That would make me happy. Was that the complete cast list for FHTE which was issued last week?

http://blog.theatrebreaks.co.uk/ I couldn't agree more. Darius has EARNED his WE credentials.
  13. Love the guitar on his back too.
  14. Both of Darius's bands were really good musicians and great guys.
  15. http://mohawkstudios.co.uk/ Aw, Spencer! A lovely talented guy. Such fun too.
  16. Now this is FAME! :yahoo: Darius has his own (Harry Hill type) knitted character. :D http://woolpower.blogspot.co.uk/2011/12/da...shcampbell.html

Not all of it. They've tried to span the musical influences of that period - blues, jazz, the very beginning of rock and roll, military music and traditional Hawaiian with ukeleles and slide guitars. Robert Lonsdale, who plays Prewitt, tweeted that he thought the show would be ace if a bit exhausting (for him). He knows more about the songs and book than most because he did the workshop.
  18. I hope you're right, megham. It's time Darius had a decent official site. I won't tell you my opinion of his other ones, not on a family board!

I guess we need to rely on the set designer and director to take that into account. It seems to me that preparations for FHTE have been going on for a long time and it all seems much more organised than GWTW was. One song (Fight the Fight) has been recorded on a Michael Ball album and he is singing it on his current tour. The same song was performed acoustically by Robert Lonsdale (Prewitt) at West End Live. GWTW didn't even have a list of song titles for most of the previews.

The www.theatremonkey.com site has guides to the seating plans of all the West End theatres including the Shaftesbury
  21. Is there any chance of dariusmusic.com springing to life in the near future? Who's behind it? I don't really like the background and picture so far. Too close in colour and it's a nothing photo. There must be literally hundreds of better ones of Darius. I hope it's not the graphics for the album. Dive In cover wasn't too bad but he looked glaikit on the Live Twice one.
  22. IMHO Morsi went too far by appointing that guy in Luxor who'd been involved in extremist acts against tourists. Egypt needs that tourism badly. The economy was tanking under Morsi's leadership as it was.

I posted it here because I couldn't find a thread on BJ but in fact, there is one in the lounge http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?s...0&start=360
  25. Well since you asked, I'm pleased to tell you that the Darius forum will still be busy from September onwards as that's when the brand new Tim Rice musical From Here To Eternity starts previews in the West End with Darius in the lead as Sgt Milton Warden, the character played in the Hollywood film by Burt Lancaster. Before rehearsals start in August he MAY be able to fit in his film role in The Conference which should shoot in Toronto and Kenya over the summer, provided that his contract for Tim Rice doesn't require him to be in the UK to help with promotion for the show, of course. Darius is also a co-producer of the film. And then there's the album which is ready but goodness knows when he'll have the time to promote and release it.
