Darius: Bits and Pieces 7
I haven't seen any reviews, polly. Do you have links? All I've seen are comments from fans, some of whom want him to dump the jazz. IMHO he seems to genuinely like the genre and he has invested a lot of emotion, time, energy and creativity into it. I would never suggest he should just scrap all that and turn the musical clock back to 2002 - 2005. That just isn't going to happen. He's ten years older and a family man whose base is now in LA. If music is his priority, rather than MT or straight acting at the moment, than he must make the album the top priority and crack on with it and get it out. However, he shouldn't expect much to come of it. He has chosen a genre which doesn't appeal to a lot of his fans, me included. I had to force myself to go to THOTBB in Glasgow. How is he going to promote it? A quick charm offensive around the radio stations and a few short interviews on daytime TV just isn't going to cut it. He has been away from the UK music scene for a very long time. He either has to put it out there and let what happens, happen or invest a lot of time in live promotion gigs and a lot of time and money to raise awareness pre-release. The latter would probably mean him signing contracts and being "guided" by others. I'm not at all sure he'd want to put himself in that position again. I suppose it depends how high a priority being a singer-songwriter still is. At least with the former course of action, there would be one Darius (Campbell) album available to purchase for any fans, old or new.

Beauty and the Beast
I think Darius's disappointment would pale into insignificance compared to that of the cast of Secret Circle including Natasha. The show was getting stronger as it went on and the finale of the first series set up an interesting tussle between the Balcoins and the others for a second series. Also the show was getting better ratings than two other which have been renewed by CW. Darius has to set his own priorities. If serious acting is his next hill to climb, he has a good agent over there who has already put him forward for two very good roles that we know about. There will be other opportunities, I'm sure. I can't say the same for his UK agent. Hotel Babylon was ages ago.

All the sites are now saying that Beauty and the Beast (ABC) has dropped out of contention.

It's her first US role. She knows the majority of pilots don't get picked up. Chris Egan's pilot last year, Poe, never went to series and this year, Ewan McGregor's first foray into an American pilot, Corrections, for HBO has not made the cut. If BatB does, it's a big bonus for both Darius and Ruth. Waiting is always hard. At least Darius had another project to get on with - his music. He knows what he'll be doing if he's not doing BatB, unlike Ruth.

Thanks, megham. I don't know if he was there last night, but Thomas Dekker who plays Adam on The Secret Circle tweeted a photo of Darius at Vibrato's, this morning.

Thanks, Polly. I missed it. Sony TV is also on Sky channel 157 and from the guide, it seems it's repeated on the same channel on Saturday at 6pm. This is the description "Sam tries to secure a deal to raise money for the hotel, but things get complicated. Tony tries to help a teenager escape, and James learns humility from an older trainee."

If he's determined enough, he'll do it. He used to fly from London to LA and back, Sundays/Mondays during Chicago. Hopefully, he'll be able to do more than that. Have you heard anything else about Darius working with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra?

Cameron's pathetic, borderline Age-ist jibe
What a stupid man David cameron is. Dennis Skinner has seen off far better politicians and he's still far sharper than Cameron will ever be. He'll bide his time before he goes for the jugular.

He likes to touch home base. We'll only hear about a gig once Darius has confirmed it. I doubt if he'll be able to confirm anything until he knows about BatB and/or Chicago.

Beauty and the Beast
New cast list now on IMDB. Looks like it's in order of appearance - beginning with Grace, Dorian, Garrick, Cyril, Mara - i.e those at the Emperor's court, then the rebels, including Shiro.

Unfortunately OUAT has dropped a lot in the ratings over the last month. I'm out of the loop. Has a second series been announced yet?

The CW's is presumably a different story every week. I might dip into it on and off but I really don't need to add another cop show to my TV viewing. I'm already watching Grimm and I'll continue to watch to see how the character of Monroe develops. I'm also watching Game of Thrones which is difficult to follow. I am however hooked at the moment - I'm not sure it will keep me through the next two series. I got bored with both Lost and Prison Break because they were too complicated. Secret Circle loses me every time it descends into teenage love story lines. I want to find out more about the older circles - parents and grandparents, so I'll hang on till next season. I intend to watch Smash from the beginning. I'm still watching Once Upon A Time although Sunday's was quite boring, I thought.

Thanks, megham and polly. It's good to know he's still working on his own music. I hope he's having a little time off to unwind beforehand. Good spoof trailer.

I should add that I'm not sure the production has actually wrapped as yet. The production schedule yesterday said - Wrapping.

Local photographer had no luck getting any shots of BatB. http://vancouverisawesome.com/2012/04/11/y...ait-their-fate/ At ABC, execs hope to capture some of the magic of their new hit Once Upon a Time with pilot Beauty and the Beast. Much of it was filmed in studio on green screen but there were occasional escapes outside studio. Unfortunately, I didn’t find them on location or see any of the cast — Ruth Bradley, Darius Campbell and Chris Egan.

As I said before, the pilot is one more thing on his CV. The main benefit will be to strengthen D's credentials as a bona fide actor, rather than just West End actor. The part is completely different from any he's ever played before and in a different genre. Also, just getting the pilot has improved his recognition in the US as himself, rather than as Natasha's partner. I'm still made up that Darius's first acting role in the US is substantial and not way down a long cast list or in the dreaded rom com - the sort of things I'd suspected he would have to do to get a foot in the door.

STV's moviejuice had a feature on Harry Potter World and one of the interviews was with Warwick Davis. He was asked about working in a mask and he said what I expected - it was hot, but he said two other things that surprised me - it was very heavy and he could hardly hear in it. Hope Darius found his a bit more comfortable.

Darius: Bits and Pieces 7
Many people who never watched Popstars do not realise that it was a TV show and that's all. It was not like Pop idol or Popstars the Rivals with which they are familiar. It was a souped up documentary lifting the lid on the kind of auditions which go on behind closed doors every day. To make it more entertainment worthy it was edited to provide high points and low points, huge emotions etc. Others seem to think Darius only sang his instant new arrangement of HMBOMT, was bombed out and then came out with the "I WILL succeed" speech. Some of course think he sang it on Pop Idol. The thing is that every time Darius succeeds, he gets bedazzled by the next mountain to climb and just has to have a go at it too.

IFTN (Irish Film and Television News) interviewed Ruth Bradley during a break in filming. I haven't put up a link because she isn't free to discuss BatB and only talks about her other work - Irish series Love/Hate, the film Grabbers and of course, Titanic.
