Bits and Pieces 6
Ive just been going through the Barison ones from Kempton on youtube and I thought they were really good. I didn't pick up on any throat problem. I guess I'll need to listen more closely. I also hadn't realised before that Nakul had put Mystery of You on youtube. Another good B side.

Beauty and the Beast
They've got the main roles now. I reckon they're short of Beauty's father and her sisters. However no TV show is shot in sequence, so they could start without them. I don't think they'll build new sets for the pilot. They'll probably use some existing ones, maybe even part of Once Upon A Time's. They've probably cast minor roles in Canada and they'll use local extras for courtiers etc. The pilots are made and shown to the networks execs who will decide yay or nay and the new schedule for Autumn will be announced in May. Hopefully BatB will be on it.

Beauty and the Beast
Is Grace's mysterious connection with Shiro that they're both Celts? Only joking but seriously, I think i like this casting. Scotland/Ireland - two of the most romantic old countries, whose land and culture are steeped in myth, mystery and legend and no stranger to fights and rebellion either. If any actors should be able to tap into the vibes of this show as described, these two should. I also think it's good that the two leads go into this US pilot as unknowns, unburdened by the memory of any other characters they've played.

Ringer
I'm still watching it because of SMG. I'd like her to get another big series. Sadly this isn't it. I hope it gets a decent ending if it's to be canned. She deserves that.

Gareth Gates - To star in HAIR 2012
Thanks. Sorry to hear about Hair, It would have been great to see two of the PI contestants back together. I'm really glad that Hayley is out there performing too. As Darius would say "Onwards and upwards!"

Gareth Gates - To star in HAIR 2012
Love this PI picture. http://cache2.allpostersimages.com/p/LRG/2...ng-feb-2002.jpg All dressed up for their first red carpet. I so wish someone would give Hayley a break. The other four are doing so well and she was the match for them vocally. Wishing Gareth and Zoe best wishes for the tour. Hope they have a ball!

Darius on Broadway
ABC's Once Upon A Time is just completing its first season on US TV. It sounds really intriguing -- a very complex dual time/location plot and its cast seems to be excellent. I think ABC really, really want BatB to work, to give them a 2 hour block of fantasy, and give BatB a good lead in from OUAT. They're putting a lot of faith in Darius as an actor. Grimm is showing on Watch in the UK. It's a crime drama set in contemporary USA with the twist that a lot of the crimes and protagonists are based on people/creatures from the Grimm's fairy stories. The Grimms' stories always were quite bloodthirsty. I wonder how we never noticed when we were kids lapping them up.

I think it's really good that people like David Foster are seeing Darius perform up close and personal in a small venue. There's no hiding place in that kind of situation. If there's anyone who could give Darius constructive criticism about his music, David Foster's got to be one of the best. It's a shame the Scottish Disney animated film Brave came too soon. Darius's voice would have been great for the bear. assuming of course that animals in Disney tend to talk and sing. Darius is a baby in the world of US TV. He's going to be on such a steep learning curve and working in mask, if it's a full face one, will present him with an even greater acting challenge.

Roy Orbison was unique. That said, I reckon Darius could do his songs some justice. Do you know if the thing with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra has happened, is still in the pipework or been shelved due to other commitments, megham? I was listening to Sandy from the archives. It's the only time I can remember Darius playing an electric guitar. It was nice to see a comment from Spence. What great band members Darius had back then - all of them- so talented and really, really lovely guys too.

Darius on Broadway
I think he's keen enough on fitness and exercise through normal sporting activities and isn't into working out to (over)define muscles.

I do like the covers I've heard Darius sing for various reasons, but I'd rather have albums of his own songs. I love the idea of keeping the covers in the archives too, thanks megham for doing that. May I request If You Go Away and/or From Russia With Love from the Matt Monro tribute, if you have a decent recording and Pretty Woman. I'm sure the latter came out on a b-side. I can't seem to find my copy nor the War Child album. I think it's when people here him sing covers they notice that he has a very good voice.

Beauty and the Beast
Fencing skills learned at Glasgow Academy all those years ago should come in useful from now on, not to mention the military training in the Combined Cadet Force (Ah those were the days when teachers used to work overtime for the kids, once upon a time before the govt decided to force them to work overtime jaw jaw jawing in jargon at snail pace meetings!) For most shows the initial script is just that. Changes are made at read throughs and rehearsals. That's why the writers is often involved as a producer, as Steinberg is in this case. How can you possibly judge if a romance on a page of writing will work acted out unless you know who're playing the roles and what sort of acting ability they have? Even then a lot depends on the chemistry between the two people. This script sounds like it owes much to the less well known elements in a French version of Beauty and the Beast. Villeneuve's versionVilleneuve's tale includes several elements that Beaumont's omits. Chiefly, the back-story of both Belle and the Beast is given. The Beast was a prince who lost his father at a young age, and whose mother had to wage war to defend his kingdom. The queen left him in care of an evil fairy, who tried to seduce him when he became an adult; when he refused, she transformed him into a beast. Belle's story reveals that she is not really a merchant's daughter but the offspring of a king and a good fairy. The wicked fairy had tried to murder Belle so she could marry her father the king, and Belle was put in the place of the merchant's dead daughter to protect her.[5] She also gave the castle elaborate magic, which obscured the more vital pieces of it.[6] Beaumont greatly pared down the cast of characters and simplified the tale to an almost archetypal simplicity.[7] From wiki page on Beauty and the Beast http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beauty_and_the_Beast Spike Darius's hair/ give him a helmet and some Samurai type boots and he wouldn't be too far off that 7 foot!

That was just a throwaway line in 2001. In all honesty, Polly, I think the new album rightly became a lower priority as soon as ABC decided to cast Darius as the Beast. I've no doubt Darius will keep plugging away when he's got time. He'll do his best because he's still passionate about making music and writing his own songs. Whether the execs run with a full series or not, suddenly Darius's name is out there in America. He's going to get more scripts, more chances. He has to grab the opportunities as they arise. It would be stupid to break off for 6 months to finish and promote an album and then tour over here. There are a couple of clips from Vibrato on youtube.

Beauty and the Beast
So these pilots are for series starting in 2013? I thought they were for "Fall" 2012. Shows you I have no real sense of how long it takes to produce a drama programme.

Yes! That's what I wanted to hear.

Beauty and the Beast
Most people would see such a deal as a privilege. I'm not sure Darius would. You know him better than most. Do YOU think he'd be able to accept the constraints? What if it meant abandoning all of his other projects including the work he's been doing with Stuart on his album? He's a stickler for friendship and loyalty, and not letting people down. That could cause him to make wrong choices in the cutthroat world he's unexpectedly been tossed into.
-
Beauty and the Beast
His casting does seem to have been done very early, given that there are lots of experienced TV and movie actors still not attached to any particular project. Some sites have speculated about ABC wanting to 'lock' him into the show. It's great if that is so. However ................ ......I'm a tad concerned that if the pilot does not go to a series, ABC may try to lock him into one of their talent holding deals and narrow his later options. He'd be back in the situation he fought so hard to free himself from - execs controlling his career.

Popstar to Operastar
She's a contestant. I think she'll do well too. She's got good posture and always looks very graceful. I liked the little bit in Brindisi when the chorus was singing and Darius and Katherine had a little dance. It starts in the US on March 19th. I think DWTS used to be shown on here too.

Bits and Pieces 6
I'd rather not have any covers, harking back to his pop era when we were spoilt rotten with a succession of original songs. I really loved the lesser known ones. I've been wondering about this tweet from Arielle Jacobs to Darius. Such a pleasure meeting you Sunday night at Elton's Oscar party! Hope to be walking that red carpet with you soon :) It made me wonder if she's up for a part in Beauty and the Beast, possibly even Grace herself?
