    eh
  3. I agree too, as The Beatles, at that time loomed more important to teenagers than going to church etc. and following them a lot more other groups. hmmm wonder how many erm 50-60+ year olds ever admitted to a poster of Jesus on their bedroom walls ???? who did I have on my wall in the 80's Abba, Supremes, Nik Kershaw, Frankie Goes To Hollywood and Madonna leering at me above my bed.
  4. what is the point of Glee ??? why dont they just produce compilations of the "originals" and we dont have to suffer the awful singers put it this way The old TOTP LP's sound better than anything Glee have ever done

  12. I read here somewhere if this keeps on going in 10 years all music will be that same churned out rubbish, in fact, I said this 10 years ago (1999), it's already here, and it's on a wider spectrum than X Factor, its basically all mind numbing recycled over samped trash. To be decent and relevant music really needs to get back to basics of real bands that can qualify to be good, that can actually play. and forget the karaoke singers and instrumentals behind them. Stop whinging about this stuff, if you truly hate it, then go out there and make it happen cause we're still gonna have the likes of this by 2020 and by then the likes of the classic rock bands will be forgotten. *************** Start NOW forget the wii's and the x boxes and give the kids a guitar, a drum kit, a keyboard anything that will spark the imagination a lot more
  13. makes me laugh when on saturday they had a chat and request show, and do the same stuff all through the charts. its a chart show, not CHAT show, fair play celebrate No.1 with an interview but not yapper yabber yabber through the charts thats why the charts are 3 hrs long to get every track in. if a NOW compilation can fit more in in 2 and a half hours with no chat whatsoever, surely it is possible
  14. as a 13 to 17 year old from 1983 - 1987, I thought then and still do think The Smiths were $h!t, clever writing but bloody awful singer, Morrissey then and still does sing like my blocked sink in the kitchen and the ONLY best single by them (sung beautifully by Sandie Shaw) is definitely Sandie Shaw's "Hand in glove" SAW basically stuck any old rubbish out on PWL, from late 1987 until around 1994 music got really stale, its no wonder that I got into the oldies (1952-87) until music sorta got itself together.
  15. during the SAW era I still followed the charts etc but hated the SAW product, music was asleep until the Britpop era. Nik Kershaw was also produced by Pete Waterman/Peter Collins (aka) & Loose End remixed.

  18. Having NI Irish connections also, I think they should be left international, as Ireland and Northern Ireland are not in Great Britain or part of the British Isles. (Northern Ireland alone is uniquely UK, but not GB) check your passports as it clearly says THE UNITED KINGDOM of GREAT BRITAIN "and" NORTHERN IRELAND British Isles referring to "Isles" are Isle of Man, Isle of Wight, Lundy, Flat Holm, Steep Holm, Skye and all the Scottish ones. so Irish Charts will always refer to Eire or aka ROI
  19. can anyone confirm this for me My sister and her friend friend went to see Status Quo live at the Winter Gardens in Weston-super-Mare in 1973 I know they also played there in 1971, but she never went to that as we werent living there until after the 71 concert. so, can anyone confirm somehow the date in 1973 that they played, I think it was a last minute change and isnt featured in any official guides. Pete
  20. I was thinking this wondering the moment popstars lose the "spark" release some complete flops and then vanish completely, though some do recover ya know when the last hits are in the Guinness book, what comes unnoticed.
  21. Major pop stars that have singles that completely flop. I was wondering if anyone knows any 45's by any of the major acts of the 50's to 2000 that was once huge but probably ended up in the bargain bin, and never graces the Top 75 or shows like Top Of The pops, and then forgotten. Often missing from major singles lists, ie Cliff Richard's 100th single wasn't really his 100th as some did flip before.... over to you lot..... !!
