Now why doesnt Cliff do the X Factor, he'd get the promotion and possibly a xmas No1 and the one he needs for the decade run
  12. maybe there wasnt much of an british invasion but surely according to british music 1962/3 , 1972/3, 82/83 but there is a pattern for each decade around the seventh year for a sudden change
  13. I tend to think music has been in decline since the overuse of the sampler in 1987, it was good for a moment, then it got boring, the only peaks musically was when "actual instruments" were played within bands. yeah the 2000's were bland due to the plasticness of manufactured popstars, who are past their sell by date one year after their contract is signed, and the odd star does slip the net and makes it bigger, some music dates very fast (ie current dance music), others mellow, some fade to become good again when it's deemed fashionable but one thing that ocasionally does shine through is real music that is performed without the need of technically re-recorded sound, and thats the stuff that will be remembered by the listeners of the future. in the 2010's, i really hope that real music makes a return, and shakes it all up again, but what we really need is big influx of British acts, and send them all worldwide in the same way that the US overloads us. British invasions tend to kick in when there is a "2" in the year 1952, 1962, 1972, 1982, 1992, 2002 so 2012 sounds promising. most new waves begin around the third quarter of each decade, Rock and roll, Flower power, Punk, Rap, Britpop and this time it seems to be a 70's/80's fusion. see 1982 and 1962 for some tips. bye for now!
  14. How about UK pulling out altogether. as a ESC fan from early childhood, its time to stop. its been run into the ground. it isnt anything remotely Europe now. its the Easternblocovision Song Contest now. Its either split it into two or pull out, it isnt rocket science. ps we dont really need the voice overs thanks.
  15. are there any countries left. ? id like to add Country: FIR-Northern Ireland Craic (Former Irish Republic of NI: FIRNI) Capital City: Lower Belfast Language: Somerset Irish Population: 1 and a flag with the remains of the grand pier mixed with giants causeway please
  16. The owner of the pier owns the insurance company that its insured to, so it's not an insurance jobbie is it. what would the point be ? its been found an electrical fault in the Karts zone of the pier. it overheated at 1am, smouldered away for 5 hours setting alarms off that were unheard, caught fire at 6.30am, smoke seen at 6.45pm, then the fire really caught hold. the rest was on Sky News. It started not in the tower but in that vacinity, and set the tower alight.
  17. 4-8-83 takes me back to holidaying on the isle of wight and hearing Spandau ballet - gold for the first time on my little radio
  18. I LIVE HERE. I know the owners personally, and it wasnt an insurance job. it was an electrical fault in the cafe under the right tower (incidentally the frame of still stands) It was not made of wood, it was a Perspex/Fibre glass construction (obviously with steel) the wood was removed in 2003 during restoration and replaced with the the fibre glass and was complete for the 100th birthday. I watched in horror myself from 7pm when the fire took hold. I live just up the hill and overlook it and have for the past 26 years, and to wake up to witness the pier on fire wasnt nice. i am extremely upset

    who ??
  20. it isnt rubbish, this country is in an awful state. thank god i'm getting out of Britain for good. Labour screw everything up whether they are "New" or not... even for the low incomes.
  21. I never was a maggie fan but since 1997 this country is in a worse state under Labour than its ever been.
  22. i suppose i'm part responsible ? on the TOTP front
  23. if you took 1968 completely out of history, what influences would there be now ? Brass bands ?? because the big thing that's non pop on the sgt pepper that jumps out that's so un-pop is that a lot of it is brass bands and organisation. if not for 1968 (everything that follows would be completely changed) i'd love to see a top 10 without certain influences... what would the charts have been like if Punk hadn't happened.. Kylie/Jason (better I know at the time etc) who do we blame for the current drone of lifeless 2008 RnB/Hip Hop c**p we are fired with now.
  24. i clearly remember when Hole in my shoe was on live.... the song used to drive my dad up the wall, so I played it more...... arent kids spiteful lol bless him
  25. sorry hadn't realised it might be seen as spam, got a lot on my plate
