Senator Buttars: Gays 'greatest threat to America'
This guy is a member of the Utah State Legislature. What a completely desirable job to be a member of state government in the worst state in America. When this man actually has a REAL JOB that can influence people I will become concerned. Remember Sally Kern? Ellen got her revenge on her... fBmCA4z8Yzc

British teenagers have lower IQs than their counterparts
IQ tests are worthless in my opinion. Often they have very little to do with actually intelligence and more with trying to "pick the next symbol in a pattern". Someone who was merely good at solving patterns and had a decent vocabulary could pass an IQ test with flying colors.

The New Cascadia National Thread
Well everyone, just so you know, Cascadia is back. ^_^ We're really excited to be in the contest again. Due to sudden entry the Cascadian song will be picked by internal selection. Hope everyone here has been well and the voting we [Cascadia] missed hasn't been too crazy or controversial. Any rule changes I should be aware of?

Junior Eurovision 2008
I'm not saying there weren't a few good songs. Lithuania was good. I just think 2007 was a lot better. The hosts this year were WAY TOO professional for a children's contest. I got the feeling that they both were doing this for the money and generally had no interest in kids at all.

Junior Eurovision 2008
I didn't really think any of the songs this year were very good. But, as always, I'm glad that Georgia won. :yahoo: That's disappointing too because there were a lot of good ones last year. Armenia, Georgia, Lithuania, and Belgium last year were really classy.

US Presidential Elections
The key here is early voting. About 30% of the United States population has voted early this year. Those people are voting for Obama by about 60%-40% EVEN IF the votes counted on election day are even, Obama would still win. His "get out and vote" campaign has worked remarkably well. By the way, all Obama has to do to win overall is to win the states of New Mexico, Colorado, and Iowa. Iowa and New Mexico are safe Obama... Colorado is leaning. And let's be honest, Obama is going to win Florida and Virginia too.

The Hollyoaks Thread...
Yeah, from what I've heard James Sutton is kinda a... you-know-what. Anyway, I can understand what everyone is saying, but I will always be a giant JP fan. Lets be honest, Craig was completely using him and if Craig was honest with himself he didn't want Sarah anyway. Craig was messing with his head and then in the end couldn't even kiss him in public. I really don't see why John Paul still wants him. Plus I love the John Paul brotherly scenes with Tina and Michaela. That one where JP was making sure Michaela took her HIV test was pretty sweet. He was taking care of her. Oh and by the way, does anyone else want Josh/Michaela?

Huge ice sheet breaks loose in Canadian arctic
No, it's not the end of the world. But it is the end of the polar bear, the north pole, and ocean levels at their current condition. Mix that with unpredictable weather and I really don't see how it's a problem...

Eurovision DANCE Contest 2008
Hum, I didn't agree with those judges at all... But congrats to the winners...

John McCain picks running mate
I don't really "get this" to be honest. It's hardly going to trick any old Hillary supporters to voting GOP. In fact, it seems more like an insult to their intelligence. Playing the "look there's a woman on the ticket" card. That said, conservatives are going to love it. Great way to increase the lead in states John McCain will be winning anyway.

Katy Perry on Miley
Miley Cyrus is popular due to her last name, and being a product of a popular disney show. Her lyrics are beyond juvenile... perfect for her eight year old audience. Katy Perry has acomplished more in her one song than Miley ever will in her career until she grows up.

Beijing 08
China seems to be bringing in those medals pretty quickly. Home advantage really does help. Everything about this seems so wrong to me. From the pollution, to the little girl who "sang" at the opening ceremony, to the Chinese gymnasts who are all apparently 16. Not to mention the whole political thing. Oh and  that the "blue screen of death" appeared during the opening ceremony. It's universal. :P Anyway, I like Track and Field the best. However I watched an intense water polo match today as well as beach volleyball. Good stuff.

B.a.N.G's National Thread.
There are a handful of other Bjork lovers on BJSC. I predict you will get some points. Don't let the odds worry you too much. Somehow I managed to qualify last time with 1000/1 odds from Pavel.

BJSC IX *Official* Confirmation Thread
Good for you! I was thinking about sending that for about 4 contests straight, but never did. I'm very curious to see how it does. What are you gonna do about the MV though? Isn't there a 1 min. introduction or something?

Should the voting age be reduced to 16?
They should be given two options 1) You can vote at 16, but take a mandatory voter's education course. 2) Wait until you're older

B.a.N.G's National Thread.
Bjork will always have a special place in the heart of the Cascadian public. They love her ever since she represented us with Earth Intruders. In other words, you might be getting some points from Cascadia

Cascadian Thread
If anyone bothered to look through old topics in the past week, yes, I was going to not enter. However, I am too obsessed with this contest. I couldn't stop thinking about it... hearing songs all over the place and pondering, "This song might do well!" ^_^ So, I'm back. :yahoo: I have so much trouble finding songs for this contest because 99% of what I listen to is either 1) Eurovision (or national final) related 2) Well known 3) Dance music (which I will never submit again after 4 Strings... ) I know what I'm going to submit though... hopefully everyone will like it...

Beijing shrouded in smog two weeks before China's Olympic
I'm not that much of an athlete, so I don't really know how things work, but it seems to me like the Chinese will have an unfair advantage. They have been running in similar pollution for all their lives and are probably used to it by now. I'm sure those athletes from less polluted areas of China were also brought to Beijing to have time to adjust.

Will South Africa be ready for 2010?
Crime in South Africa is pretty much out of control. That said, South Africa is almost a first world country at this point (especially the big cities are very developed). The facilites should be pretty nice and well maintained, we aren't talking about the Republic of Chad here. I am sure they will have TONS of security at the time of the actual event.

Beijing shrouded in smog two weeks before China's Olympic
You don't blame the IOC? I completely blame the IOC. Picking China was really a "what were you thinking" moment. Terrible civil rights and awful pollution. You would think that they would have thought about some of this cr*p before they gave them the okay. Oh, and now China has a list of things not to ask foreigners. I hope some of them ignore it and actually learn about something without censorship.
