  1. This isn't going to happen because some man sued NBC. I would quite like it actually - states might not vote for one another so loyally.

I thought it was.... alright. I liked it, but three hours was a little too much for me. One child (Age Seven?) had to leave because he was crying his poor little eyes out. I just hate all the "lessons" we are supposed to learn though. They seemed so blunt "This is the moral of the movie!" scenes. Seemed destined to be on some students homework assignment, "How are the Joker's morals and Batman's morals different - please explain using examples from the film."

Well, incase anyone is interested... For the single: "Love Remains the Same" Germany: #52 Austria: #35 Switzerland: #71 United States: #76 (but remained on the chart for six weeks) Canada: #97 Wanderlust positions: United States: #33 Austria: #40 Switzerland: #95 Why the single with Gwen Stefani was not added to the album and released as the first single I will never know. That seemed logical, she has enough star power to force it into the top 20 at least with a TV appearance or two.
  4. Gwen: 1. Cool 2. Hollaback Girl 3. The Sweet Escape 4. Wind It Up 5. What You Waiting For? No Doubt: 1. Hey Baby 2. Hella Good 3. Don't Speak 4. Sunday Morning 5. Underneath It All Oh, and don't worry about the lack of posting... it will certainly be quiet around here until early 2009. The No Doubt album will cause a flow of new topics and threads.
  5. Oh, nevermind... I guess I messed up... ignore this
  6. Diana's crying in the corner...
  7. Thank you Angelic Land. ^_^
  8. :cheer: for Sangria. Excellent song!
  9. YEAH! Thank you so much David...
  10. Oh, hello everyone. I just arrived. Good luck. Diana can't wait to see.... erm, hear the results.
  11. So, wait, I'm starting to get confused now. How many countries have not voted? Is it still just three? Anyway: Oh, I wasn't there at the semifinal results until the end and if anyone was suprised it was me.... I thought I was going to get nul to be honest (or at least last). Not that I would have been too sad though - a different language song is always risky so I was mentally prepared.
  12. Oh thanks, I knew Disco Lies would be a kinda risky song to send considering Moby is pretty well known and of the male gender (must be female to win  ) I actually thought I was going to do a lot better with South Side by Moby and Gwen Stefani. But that's okay. I still love the song. Others? Well - I loved "What A Feeling" from awhile back. I feel awful for only giving it one point - I didn't know at the time. Also, "I Get Around" from BJSCII was good.

I guess I could have made my post a lot more clear. Basically, my only idea was to have the exact same semifinal voting system as ESC did this year. Remember how every country had a jury pick a song in addition to the points? Then they added up all the jury picks and the one with the most votes got through as the 10th qualifier. I like that idea.

That would certainly make it easier, but my answer is "NO". It seems like we are betraying ESC to change the voting format. I think as long as ESC continues this format, we should too. I think having a backup jury in the semifinals would be cool though. Everyone give 1-12 points as usual and then put another country you liked as the jury pick.... count the votes and that one is the wildcard.
  15. Okay, Cascadia voted. I just wanna let everyone know that this was extremely hard. There were so many songs I wanted to give points to. Good luck everyone! ^_^
  16. 22=: Mdiče - Utada - Exodus '04 (Double J Remix) - 25 That certainly was a shock to me. I gave it 8 points and listen to it all the time now.
  17. I'll have to listen to all the semifinal one songs that made it now. I'll vote soon, either today or tomorrow. Listening to all the songs takes quite awhile.
  18. Sorry I was gone! Thank you everyone so much for your kind words for Cascadia and Diana Gurtskaya. And congrats to everyone who qualified!
  19. I listened to all the songs and finally Cascadia voted. Good luck everyone! ^_^

I'm actually terrified. I don't wanna get stuck in the semifinal a second time. Interesting. As we all know, results can change at the last minute. Anyone have any predictions?

Indeed. It is sad that pretty much the only so-called "justification" left for denying gay people their rights is religion. People who will point to a certain passage in the Bible and say, "It says right here that it is immoral". The Bible should never be taken that literally. The most hilarious thing about these fundamentalists is that they pick and choose passages they want to interpret literally. The passages about gay people should be taken literally. (apparently) However, the one that says "whoever has worked on Sunday shall be put to death" does not. This could never apply because they themselves have worked on Sunday. I don't recall a commandment being "Thou Shalt Not Be Gay". I do remember "Thou shall not covet thy neighbours goods" as one - something these "pious" people no doubt do every day.

Oh, I never expected anyone to respond - so thank you! ^_^

My odds are actually looking alright... that kinda suprises me. Especially considering Pavel put me at 100/1 <_< Just kidding. There are quite a few good songs imo. I'm looking forward to this contest.
  24. Well, Cascadia sticks by its choice: Cascadia Diana Gurtskaya Nezhnaya
  25. Um, I'm definitely not a GWB fan - at all, but that sounds a little ridiculous to me. For many reasons. 1) I don't think George Bush even KNOWS about his legacy, or only knows what his little minions want him to. To be honest, I think he has NO IDEA that his approval is 25%. I would bet you money that if you asked him he would say 60-70%. You are talking about the man who was "unaware" that fuel prices were rising and "denied" the recession over there. 2) Unless George Bush really feels some hatred toward his own party that would be an EXCELLENT way to literally destroy the Republican party and its presence in Washington. Imagine the next congressional election... (Senate: Dems: 85 Rep 15) 3) Maybe I'm totally out of politics, but how exactly does he plan to pull this off? Does he not think that the media will catch on? Does he think the US Army will just immediately support him? Or does he somehow think that it's okay that he went completely against the Constitution?
