    Happy Birthday Delta :D
  2. 'Focus at the Rainbow' is a great live album. 'Mother Focus' is one of the worst albums...................EVER :P
  3. Arrival is one of the biggest selling LPs of all time in Australia. But Universal has been slack with the release of the deluxe edition here. We've had the Pulp deluxe editions (Pulp were hardly a chart act in Australia) but there's been no sign of the ABBA. :(

When he did the promo tour of Australia he was on this really hip Melbourne radio station 3RRR and they were asking him about the French and Belgium punk scenes and reeling of all these obscure bands none of which Plastique had ever heard of. He then used the line he prefered Frank Sinatra to punk rock LOL

MC Solaar's hit sampled Bonnie and Clyde, I think. Melody Nelson has been used by Massive Attack (Karmakoma), David Holmes (Don't Die Just Yet), De La Soul and is the basis of Beck's Paper Tiger. EDIT: As this thread is about Pulp, Jarvis does one of the few good tracks on Gainsbourg Revisited LOL, but the same song (Je suis venu te dire que je m'en vais) is performed much better on the 'Pop Romantique' comp by John Westley Harding.

Jarvis wrote most of the lyrics for Charlotte Gainsbourg's 5.55 album. Check it out it's great. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XY2Smsnxl60
  7. I thought the deluxe edition of Arrival was going to be the next big ABBA reissue. What happened to that???

At the time there was a rumour that the guy in the clip wasn't actually the singer but the drummer on the session. He looked the most like a punk rocker so they used him to promote the record. He came to Australia for TV appearances and when interviewed said he didn't like punk and prefered Frank Sinatra.
  9. There was a second bidder who bid it up to $320- and then withdrew their bid. Someone complained to eBay and all that bidders bids were taken off. But, because of this dummy bidder everyone knew what the high bid was so everything went crazy. It's rare but it's not $635- rare :(

When are you going to find me one ~Cat~?????

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c70/the_analyst_graphics/miscphoto01.jpg It's from the National Portrait Gallery at Old Parlament House Canberra. People on the official forum say looks like she's starring in an Adult movie in that pic.
  12. Most of them had great tracks. The Osmonds "Crazy Horses" and "Down By Lazy River", David Essex "Rock On" and "Walk On(City Lights)"Bay City Rollers"Rock'n'Roll Love Letter" and "Summer Love Sensation" and all the early Jackson Five- Classics. Most of the Partridge Family tracks sound like bubblegum versions of 70s Elvis and that can't be bad. David C recorded the original "I write the Songs" and had an album produced by Beach Boy Bruce Johnson. Donny O's solo career was pretty naff but some people like his Alone Together album. So who knows????
  13. She was supposed to have them out in 2003. That obviously didn't happen. Then in 2005 (about the time of the 60 Minutes interview) it was announced she was coming to Australia to have them out. There's no pics with bruising or swelling so I doubt that happened either. Maybe she's just got a lot of wisdom teeth. If they end up on ebay I'm putting in a bid!!!!!

I think you mean A Year Ago Today
  15. Innocent Eyes: I wonder where I've heard that before.

I think SonyBMG has withdrawn it. I'm in shops every day and I haven't seen it in about 2 weeks. Even KMart didn't have it on Friday and they have a Delta Goodren policy :)

In the 60s they owned minor chords. All their stuff is worth hearing. She's Not There, Tell Her No, Time Of The Season. All classics. Buy Zombie Heaven a 4CD box set on Big Beat. All the Decca, CBS, BBC sessions and out-takes in one package. If you can't afford that pick up an old vinyl copy of Time Of The Zombie, a side of hits, a side of out-takes and the whole O&O LP.
  18. It had that "john Lennon" sound. Much better than "Cool for Cat's". Still gets airplay in Australia.
  19. If you look behind the CD, on the shelf you'll see the actual tape boxes for the unreleased Empire Records "Delta" album. Bet you'd like to hear that one.
  20. Rowland, yeah you're right how embarrassing. Especially when I'm praising the guy. I remember he played the guy from Creation Records all these amazing songs and got signed to the label and delivered a karaoke album with versions of The Greatest Love and The Long And Winding Road. You've got to admire the guy for that. And Bruce Springsteen was so offended with his version of Thunder Road it was only on the promo. The guy had style. Ever hear Don't Stand Me Down??? A pretty strange way to follow up a million selling album don't you think???All that dialogue mid-song. I don't expect The Artic Monkeys to replicate that on their next album. Oh yeah, buy the US reissue of Too-Rye-Aye (different bonus tracks)
  21. Kevin Rowlands in the closest thing we've got left to Syd Barrett. My Beauty is the equivilant of Opal. Searching For The Young Soul Rebels is his Piper At The Gates Of Dawn. A man out of time.
  22. How ungrateful. After all Delta has done for them. :puke2:
  23. Too-Rye-Aye is THE most subversive album ever to get to number 1. Listen to the lyrics, Rowlands obviously has an agenda. He clearly thinks outside the square. The second side is one of the most OTT suites of music in pop history, check out the CD from Plan B onwards. Come On Eileen sounds a lot better in the context of the album. The only reason they're not mentioned in the same breath as The Clash and U2 is that Homer Simpson made a joke about them. lol

37's good seeing I haven't seen it in the shops for about 2 weeks. No-one's reordering it. How do they culculate the charts????
  25. If you want it with the DVD you better be quick. A lot of Aussie shops have sold out already
