JAMES BROWN DIES
James Brown only got to #47 In the Celebrity wife beaters poll. A pretty poor effort, I think. http://www.amiannoyingornot.com/(dfnsrw45c...?collection=327

JAMES BROWN DIES
I'm pretty sure before Ringo and Barbara Bach were in rehab he hospitised her a few times. Lennon was an ill-tempered creep who liked nothing more than taking out his frustration on Cynthia, Yoko and whatever poor groupie passed in the night. Here's an excert from Albert Goldman's The Lives of John Lennon From Dave Tianen, js online Lennon's beatings are also said to be responsible for Yoko's misscarriages. (Goldman pages 319. 359) McCartney is accused of hurting Heather Mills and his relationship with Linda has also been under scruitiny. So next time you hear Hey Jude or Strawberry Fields Forever think of all the chics they thrashed senseless and tell me does it change how you rate their music. EDIT: Here's a list that puts Ringo in the top 5 celebrity wife beaters. Beatle fans rejoice: http://www.amiannoyingornot.com/(dfnsrw45c...?collection=327

JAMES BROWN DIES
Too many historical figures are judged on the morality of today. Remember Albert Goldman's Elvis book which tried to blacken Elvis' name because he wasn't a gym going 80's yuppie. If you take the man out of context and judge him by the values of middle class white society of course he's not going to messure up. People who refuse to listen to Rock and Roll Part 2 because of some high flying moral issue are simply missing out on a great song. Hard to believe but rock, R&B and soul music were once the music of the street, music for the downtrodden. A way for the poor and hungry to raise above their birth. Yeah, it's a big crime that some poor, ignorant people got famous and made money and changed history. It would be much better if every record in the chart was made by someone who attended the school of rock and was given a police check in case some poor preteen gets corrupted listening to the devils music.

JAMES BROWN DIES
Take a listen to the "Roots of Revolution" Cd and tell me he didn't invent funk. How can you judge people's art and career with their private lives?? Almost every scientific advance in the last 70 years was made by former Nazis and you don't refuse to take medicine or drive cars or listen to music because of the politics or morality of the inventor. James Brown was an innovator. If it wasn't for his base work there wouldn't be the records to sample and scratch in the first place. Here's a good idea. Only listen to music by people who take a moral highground. You and your Bono and Moby records will be very, very lonely

The Waitresses
I Know What Boys Like was a huge hit in Australia. I think Shampoo covered it. There's 2 different editions of the Ze christmas album with slightly different track listings. There's also a CD with the whole shebang on it. Best tracks Things Fall Apart by cristina and Christmas on Riverside Drive by August Darnell.

JAMES BROWN DIES
Three of the Beatles were wife beaters I don't see that effecting the way their music is judged. James Brown invented funk, hip hop, house and is easily the most sampled musician EVER. Don't let trivia get in the way of the man's achievements.

Lou Reed and The Velvet Underground
Metal Machine Music is totally unlistenable. It's 4 sides (on the vinyl) of electronically produced feedback. One side has a repeating groove so it plays forever (like Sgt Peppers or The Who Sell Out). There's also a rumour that sides 3 and 4 are sides 1 and 2 played backwards. I listened to a side once and it didn't kill me but the thought of three more sides was too much to take. :(

Kerrang! 100 Greatest Heavy Metal Albums Of All Time
Where's Kings Of Oblivion by The Pink Fairies. The best hard rock album of all time :(
-
Blake's Seven
The first series with the Blake character sucked big time. It was like a bad kids show. But the later series rocked. Great casting. I've got the Blakes 7 Disco 45 at home somewhere (on Beeb records  )

Flawed
There's a one track promo in a pic sleeve. For collectors only.

On My Own
It's the weirdest thing. No mention of the song is on any publishing site. ASCAP, BMI, APRA etc. It's definitely a finished track. Where did it originally leak from??? People say it's cowritten with Gary Barlow but where does the info come from??? I'm so confused :(

the rolling stones
The albums between Beggar's Banquet and Exile on Main Street are pretty essential. Goats Head Soup and It's Only Rock'n'Roll are listenable. Any later album beware. No matter how bad the albums got Rolling Stone magazine always hailed the latest album their 'best since Exile'.

A Copy Of Delta's USA Album Exists
I've only ever heard of 2 copies of that second LWY promo turning up. In fact I only heard about the second one about a month ago :(

The Doors
Here's the old reissue game again. This box is about the 5th time the original Doors albums have been out. Hifi nuts will buy it for the 5.1 sound and completists will want it for the out-takes. If these out-takes were anything special why did it take 30 years+ to release them. The last 2 reissues (The Doors Boxset and The Absolute Best) contained out-takes that even the most committed Doors fan would never play more than once and now there's this monstosity. Buy a Greatest Hits album. No-one needs The Soft Parade or Waiting For The Sun. PS. They haven't quite run out of things to resell yet. The first 2 albums came out in mono. Surely 'The Doors Mono Collection" must be on the cards for the next anniversary. PPS. The only good thing about this box is the Danny Sugarman is dead and can't write fawning sleevenote about his 'friend' Jimbo :(

Best Beatles song ever?
Because, from Abbey Road, is my fave. Plus the whole A Hard Days Night album :)

The Doors
The absolute best way to get all the best stuff all at once is to get the vinyl albums 13 and Weird Scenes Inside The Goldmine. Three records, all the best tracks and the rare B-sides STILL not on a proper CD comp. Also, how do you get the (superior) single edit of Light My Fire?? Radio thinks it's doing us a big favour by playing the long version but 5 minutes of it is just noodling. The song that chjarted was the edited single version. Where is it???
-
The Doors
Jose Feliciano's cover of 'Light My Fire' was contemporary so Morrison would have heard it in his lifetime :P
-
The Doors
Their first album (The Doors) and their last (LA Woman) were the best. The second album (Strange Days) is like a shot-by-shot remake of the first album and the other studio albums are patchy as heck. Best to buy the double "the Absolute Best" but skip the last track, the rightfully unreleased "Celebration of the Lizard". Dreadful

Why was the Mid 1970’s so bad for musical creativity?
What happened was that in the mid 70s British bands went completely over the top and recorded utterly unlistenable, uncommercial albums like Tales From Topographic Oceans (Yes) and A Passion Play (Jethro Tull). When both the rock fraternity and the general public rejected these overblown concept albums the bands did the wrong thing and recorded safe, sterile albums (Relayer and War Child) which the public and fans also rejected. With progressive rock killed off teenagers needed something to spend their hard earned allowances on and there's no way a British record company was going to promote black music, so a window was opened for punk. Rock music promoted on children's television also had a lot to do with it :D

Mrs Miller was in a really bad 60's rock exploitation film called "The Cool Ones". Beatle Barkers isn't a bad album, in fact if you're a Beatles collector get it before the Yellow Submarine album it's a lot more fun. It was also a top seller downunder. The Claude Denjean Moog album is actually a CLASSIC and shouldn't be listed in a bad albums list. I've got 2 copies an Aussie and a US gatefold version. Some of the versions ROCK!!!
