So what's the excuse behind 'If I Can't Have You'? It was supposed to sound 'like Eurythmics meets The Killers meets Garbage' (quoting Kelly herself). It does start a bit like Sweet Dreams by the Eurythmics but then it just continues as a reworked Disturbia/Fly On The Wall mash-up. Anyway, it's pretty catchy :)

That's not exactly true... as Ina said, it is the live performance of the song that caused all the fuss (cause it absolutely sucked). It doesn't really matter that he lived in the USA the last couple of years or whatever his sexual orientation may be. We are not so narrow-minded. If the guy learns how to sing we have a slight chance of entering into the finals, but if he continues to moan like a pack of horny cats than we don't stand a chance. Obviously a lot of "efforts" were input into the whole production of the video and it came out pretty good. However this won't matter if he doesn't drastically improve his live performance skills (which probably won't happen). Afterall it's a song, not a video contest.

I'm so happy for Adele and Kings of Leon! Well deserved! On the other hand John Mayer's and Alicia Keys's awards (for Gravity and Superwoman respectively) are totally undeserved IMO. Oh, and btw OneRepublic deserved an award for Apologize as it is one of the most well written songs of 2008 (together with Bleeding Love which Tedder also co-wrote). VIva La Vida is good also, but not THE best.
