I would expect Radio 2 to support it at least too, maybe Radio 1 if it's really good.

She has just signed with TaP though, so I'm thinking she's going to get a proper push here this time.

The singles chart isn't everything these days though is it? She's always busy in shows and doing random performances on TV. She is one of the best singers we've got, even if she's not particularly successful as a recording artist these days.

It's also very difficult to predict whether someone's going to sell 4,000 and in with a shot of making the top 10, and 1,500 and miss the top 75.

I think she's done quite a lot of promo actually. Without even trying I've also seen her on BBC Breakfast, The One Show and Rylan's Radio 2 show and there's been stuff on BBC Online and various newspapers and magazines too.

I expect record labels have complained to ERA or OCC about it. It would have been bad for the industry to apply the rule to albums as well, because they are profitable. They're selling the singles at a loss specifically to hype a single to #1 so that's the difference. Maybe they could've set a minimum price, but I believe the price rules are based on dealer price? If they're being sold direct to consumer then there isn't a dealer price. Just a theory anyway!

Oh that is a shame - I do like any opportunity to get a signed item! I do wonder how much the signature makes people want to buy it. Especially the likes of Ed and Lewis, where they've now done it so many times the novelty must've worn off?

I like to listen to them when they first arrive, whilst admiring the sleeve. But it is usually the once because of course usually it only has 1 track on it. I do listen to the cassettes too. They're more interesting to listen to, as they have an analogue quality to them. Unfortunately they don't sound as good as they used to.

There was a CD single released in Germany - but it managed to chart on OCC's Physical Singles Chart too because it was available through Amazon

If TOTP were to come back, I just don't think it'd work tying it so closely to the top 40. I'd still have the top 10 rundown but probably not play the #1 every week if it had been there for ages, or wasn't primetime TV friendly. I'd feature a mix of songs from both the Radio 1 and 2 playlists, stuff from the albums chart, new performances of relevant retro tracks that have suddenly gone viral or a legacy act who are on tour or whatever. Just aim to make the best show for a mainstream audience as possible. And I'd put it in on a Saturday night about 6pm. Oh wouldn't that be nice.

I don't understand why they've not revised the certifications yet. Didn't they adjust them downwards about 30 years ago? Now they should go up. We've got singles that miss the top 40 going platinum for goodness sake.
