I genuinely think it's because so few artists make straight-forward pop songs. That's why the likes of Ed, George and Lewis clean up, and why Miley is having the biggest hit of her career now. There's so little else for people who like uncomplicated pop. If everyone stopped trying to be too cool for school they'd have more success.

Ed and his ilk are just very good at what I call timeless pop songs - i.e. classic pop structure with memorable sing-a-long hooks that instantly grab you. And I think that's a talent in and of itself. I don't know why people get so upset by it. It's just pop music.

I like Ed and I like Eyes Closed. It'll do fine, but don't see it being anywhere near as big as Bad Habits and Shivers. Wouldn't be surprised if he isn't expecting it to be either, based on some of the stuff he's said about the upcoming album.

That Nothing But Thieves track is a bit of a tune.

I don't get why people are so cynical about signed items. Ed doesn't come across as the sort of person who would feel like signing CDs is beneath him, or someone who would be happy to con his fans. You'd like to think that most people would have more integrity than that. Also the risk of it getting out that it was fake would do quite a bit of damage to your image. It's not really worth taking that risk.

That Morgan Wallen track is going to blow up soon isn't it.

Surely it's mostly based on the specific song/artist you played? I've been testing it out on various genres lately and it's quite a nice way of discovering new songs in a specific style. I did notice it threw it Loreen's Tattoo earlier though so it must do that a bit too.

My understanding of an EP is that in theory all the tracks on it should be treated as equal A sides But evidently labels didn't always follow this, sometimes using it just to show off that all the tracks were new/different. The Nakasaki EP was a funny one because it was all remixes of the same song.
