  1. Actually yes I agree they are pop, though the production of them makes me mentally put them in the same category as everything else. I just miss real singers who do traditionally structured timeless pop songs.. the sort of thing that would work lyrically and musically with just a piano or guitar I mean. There's a few of them in the top 40 but they're increasingly in the minority.
  2. Pretty worrying to see the Spotify top 10 entirely made up of hip-hop/rap and dance. Why are mainstream pop songs struggling so much? (that's not to say I don't like any of those songs.. I just miss variety!)
  3. Steps are straight in at #2
  4. Singles out tomorrow Birdy - Open Your Heart Maria Mena - You Live And You Learn Birdy - Piano Sketches EP - 6 Nov (from her instagram) with album early next year
  5. You've probably got this but just in case... single out tomorrow Timmy Trumpet x Vengaboys - Up & Down
  6. It does :)
  7. Ace Of Base - Hidden Gems 2 (digital album) - Aug 28 https://www.amazon.co.uk/Hidden-Gems-2-Ace-...2501&sr=8-3
  8. Ooh hadn't noticed that Eurohit from Nea was doing something here. Hope it climbs. Presumably it's on some of the playlists?
  9. I'm no Dua stan but I''m baffled by the lack of success for Hallucinate. Sounded like a smash to me.
  10. I was alive at the time too Obviously it didn't get a huge amount of support, but just saying it did get serviced to media.
  11. Old post to respond to, but they actually did push Aisha here. I remember seeing it on one of the music channels. It either didn't chart or they pulled it.
  12. The sales of video downloads are so stupidly low now it's hardly worth worrying about
  13. AcerBen posted a post in a topic in UK Charts
    Haven Forum has them all
  14. Yes it is weird that a faceless new producer or the latest London rapper can easily get a top 10 hit but singers of mainstream pop songs really struggle. Also frustrating that many of the new acts from all genres who do well can only manage a handful of hits before they're deemed over.. one mis-step and you're finished.
  15. Oh right. Well seems like you get why it happened now. Funnily enough then it's actually safer if the song in your library was never on iTunes in the first place. Because you upload the MP3 to your iCloud to store it. However if iCloud matches the song with something in your library, it just gives you the iTunes file. Which of course disappears from iCloud if it comes off iTunes.
  16. You say external offline drive.. what about your computer's main hard drive? Or do you keep nothing on there and just stream everything?
  17. If in decades to come M4A and MP3 are replaced with something else, I'd be surprised if it wasn't still possible to convert the files though.
  18. Might be like this one but without the old songs https://twitter.com/RetroCharts/status/1283439582844014595
  19. The article you linked to contradicts what you're saying: (vi) iTunes Plus Products do not contain security technology that limits your usage of such Products, and Usage Rules (ii) – (v) do not apply to iTunes Plus Products. You may copy, store, and burn iTunes Plus Products as reasonably necessary for personal, noncommercial use.
  20. Assuming the file was bought after they got rid of DRM and you kept it on your computer, it should work forever, like an MP3 would. If they remove it from the Store, it will probably be removed from "My purchases" within the Store, but it shouldn't have been deleted from your library or your hard drive, so I don't know what's gone wrong in your case. Have you tried looking in your media folder on your Mac? I've got a few songs that are no longer on iTunes Store which still work.
  21. Sounds more like the latter.. guess it could just be made up or only loosely calculated on sales and airplay It's a nice idea
  22. Also out today Emeli Sandé - I'll Get There (The Other Side) Bazzi - I Don't Think I'm Okay
  23. A fairly close one - Wet Wet Wet at 1 and All-4-One at 5 in 1994
  24. I like that some artists with big fanbases are starting to release singles again - have recently bought "Blinding Lights". And I had been buying a handful of big hits on CD single from Amazon Germany though that market is drying up too now. Last one I got from them was Ava Max's "Torn". There's actually a guy on eBay who does very good quality bootlegs - I just bought "Higher Love", "Dance Monkey" and "Sweet But Psycho" from there, but quite expensive so won't be doing that too often. Last new CD single I bought in a shop was probably Stereo Kicks off X Factor - they were selling them in BHS! Last cassette? Probably Rosie Ribbons "Blink" in 2002!
  25. My Marianne is Molly's middle names. I guess it was her own decision.
