  1. Show 12 is now up, with tunes from East 17, Dannii Minogue, Savage Garden, Fugees and Skunk Anansie! https://www.mixcloud.com/back2the90s/back-2...ow-12-20062018/

Shouldn't moderators know better than to name call?
  3. No, it's both audio and video. It's replacing Google Play.
  4. That would be a given though. Guess he means video streams.
  5. Yeah, he's well known in the music industry, used to come up with a lot of scoops in Record of the Day magazine. He'll have heard it from somewhere (rather than just trolling). July 1st is a Sunday though so he might have the date wrong.
  6. Not over the moon about the decision but at least the chart looks a bit fresher than it used to be. https://charts.youtube.com/charts/TopSongs/...180614?hl=en-GB
  7. Sounds like it's happening! That's a Sunday so he might have the date wrong but Lee's an industry bod who's usually very reliable

But you can't assume that everyone will switch so streaming. Some people will never pay £10 a month.
  9. I don't reckon it will. OCC seem dead against it. I'm sure they will be able to separate audio and video streams.
  10. They said at the time that they would continue publishing both lists and highlighting songs that passed the 1 million sales mark
  11. He is if you listen to Radio 2! And his last album went platinum.
  12. Why wouldn't they? All they need is a prominently displayed Football Hits playlist on Spotify and they'll be away.

I'd dispute that Greg didn't care that much - I prefer Scott's more old skool style, but Greg is still a chart fan. By look of things the show isn't going to 3 hours after all btw.

Though worth pointing out Friday afternoon is a more prominent slot than Sunday. Ratings have gone up a bit since it moved. And the reduction in length of the show was partly down to the chart being slower so playing all 40 records when they barely change week on week is understandable. I don't feel R1 currently want to get rid of it. If they did, they'd have done it already.

Surely the music industry will always need a chart, even if public interest wanes further. Maybe Radio 1 will drop it at some point but I don't see why it would stop existing.
  16. What difference does it make?

No, thinking about the song and it plays through your earphones (if that's possible) Beaming something directly to your brain feels a bit unlikely. Surely we'll always need our ears? Something would still have to stream the song to you though?

I really don't see what can replace streaming. Even if in the distant future you could just think about the song you want to play, that'd still be streaming wouldn't it

It's probably just better supported by Apple playlists
  20. Maybe Clean Bandit's TBA album can be added now? Seems more likely than Louisa's :D

  22. Scott's first show is Friday 15th June, and according to Radio Times, Newsbeat is still on at 5.45 and Dance Anthems at 6. http://www.radiotimes.com/radio-programme/...ills--15062018/ I would ignore the description of the show itself - they don't seem to have updated it for years. I expect the format will be more or less the same as before.

That Joel Adams situation will always puzzle me. They didn't even service the song to UK radio, and there was no follow-up or promotion. But somebody went to a lot of effort to get that song on Hot Hits UK for 4 months solid. Why?

Absolutely. Whatever tricks the labels pulled to get publicity, it always ended with a punter choosing to make the sale. That's a much bigger decision than the song being played and you not bothering to skip it. Streaming figures are only slightly more meaningful than airplay.
  25. Pretty much every week from 1995-2000. I miss the days of 12 new entries in the top 40 week after week.
