If TOTP were to come back, I just don't think it'd work tying it so closely to the top 40. I'd still have the top 10 rundown but probably not play the #1 every week if it had been there for ages, or wasn't primetime TV friendly. I'd feature a mix of songs from both the Radio 1 and 2 playlists, stuff from the albums chart, new performances of relevant retro tracks that have suddenly gone viral or a legacy act who are on tour or whatever. Just aim to make the best show for a mainstream audience as possible. And I'd put it in on a Saturday night about 6pm. Oh wouldn't that be nice.

I don't understand why they've not revised the certifications yet. Didn't they adjust them downwards about 30 years ago? Now they should go up. We've got singles that miss the top 40 going platinum for goodness sake.

Moving best ofs (and maybe studio albums older than a few years) to their own chart seems like such an obvious first step to me. I'm surprised record companies aren't demanding it already.

On the plus side, it gives her a better chance of making top 10 on Big Top 40. Whereas making the OCC Top 40 would be a bit of a challenge anyway. It's also debatable whether charting lower down the Top 100 is really very helpful. Might be better to not chart at all? And go all out for #1 album.

Ed's new songs aren't his usual streaming friendly sound, so I don't know why people are surprised. It's not like his fans have just deserted him less than 2 years since his last album. If he wants to do another album full of chartworthy bops he'll back on top.
