Seeing as how well TOTP does for BBC Two and Four, I don't know why they haven't brought back TOTP2 - it would fit quite nicely in their Saturday night music night line-ups. And would be cheap as chips to make.

I reckon if he has another decent video like the last one that will get it going. And if not, there's always January.

There hasn't been a new episode of TOTP2 since 2017. What I mean about going for a Radio 2 audience in a hypothetical reboot - a recent show might look like this It'd be a blend of top 40 hits (but easy on the grime/hip-hop), and artists who are on Radio 2 playlist as well, and the odd new performance of an old song - something that was #1 30 years ago this week, or someone who's got a new best of out Meghan Trainor Dermot Kennedy Kaiser Chiefs Callum Beattie Joel Corry & Tom Grennan Paolo Nutini Pink Sam Ryder Dean Lewis Taylor Swift at #1

I like both the Raye and Lewis Capaldi tracks so would be happy to see either of them nab the Christmas #1 over bloody Mariah (though could live with Wham!) Reckon Lewis will take off when the video comes out. Hopefully he's done something fun and festive.

I think if they were mad enough to try bringing back TOTP though, there'd be no point in aiming it at a younger audience, because they aren't going to sit down and watch it in large enough numbers. So going for the nostalgia angle and aiming it at your average Radio 2 listener would be the route to go down I think. But of course it's not going to happen anyway... And I think those who reckon the show is going to be a clip show may well be right. It's on at 22.40 on Christmas Eve, which doesn't suggest to me they're going to bother doing a proper show. An outside chance there might be one or two new performances recorded in the Live Lounge or something, which would be a logical place to film it?

I think there's a format that could work. If I had anything to do with it, I'd put it on Saturday evenings, go for a family audience rather than try to be too cool for school like SLFN did. But finding that perfect recipe that worked would still be very difficult

No, there's still time. In fact many recent years TOTP hasn't been mentioned at all in the end of Nov press release, and it was only confirmed the following week. Usually filmed first or second week of Dec.

Well, it doesn't say that it won't be the usual format or that it won't be on Christmas Day? The press office says "Top of the Pops returns for a Christmas special"

Weird to see that Peter Andre song so high. It's one of the more forgettable number 1s but by no means one of the 20 worst. It's a perfectly serviceable pop song.

Seems like "200 million streams" is being treated as the new "million seller" in a way. Prefer that, because chart sales doesn't mean anything.

Good to see them updating both lists, and that they have seemingly given up trying to combine them. Would've been nice to have the full sales figures too though.

Sam has confirmed album is now out December 9th, with a really sweet video message explaining that he just needs some time out with family before heading straight from a tour into album promotion. (I suspect it suits the label too though!)
