They're not showing any of them apart from the "Christmas Hits" compilation. I think they're all getting a bit old. Surprising they haven't made a "Christmas at the BBC" yet.

One of the others is making a slightly more coherent argument that the hyperlink either takes you to the streaming single or invites you to sign up to Amazon Music. So they think they're losing sales because people see that and give up, because they can't find where to click through to download.

One of the "Creators" is claiming on TikTok that Amazon are putting paid downloads of their song "through as streams" because they want "Scam Ryder" to be number 1. Haha sounds like BS but funny anyway.

Well he is doing his best to start a download campaign himself. Maybe if he does some press/TV/radio this week he can garner some more support?

Fair enough it's possible to break through without playlists, but it's still wrong to me that "passive" listening has such a direct impact on the charts.

The whole charts are now meaningless anyway. It's not just Christmas. Passive plays dominate the makeup of the charts all year round. Since Space Man, Sam has been shafted by the streamers, so good on him for playing the game I say.

I've just had an email from Amazon saying my Sam single has been dispatched. Does that mean it'll count this week now.

People usually complain when there isn't a chart of the year! Who wants to listen to 30 odd Christmas songs on the 29th Dec anyway

That only really works as an argument for producing educational/factual/niche interest programmes, the sort of thing that commercial broadcasters won't touch. That doesn't mean they have an obligation to produce a new episode of TOTP every Christmas - and as a broadcaster they can point to plenty of other ways how they give airtime to pop music throughout the year.

It was rather stinking up the schedule to be fair. They get more viewers putting a kids film in the slot. And I suppose it does cost quite a bit to put on 2 hours of live music. But it wouldn't hurt to make a little bit more effort on the show they do make. It was odd last year that they had Sam Ryder in the studio for a chat but he didn't even perform. I'm sure he'd have happily done a performance for him. A slightly shoddy clip show is still better than nothing for me though. Incidentally, last year's show got 523k on BBC Two.

It seems like it. Surely it wouldn't cost very much to get a few easy bookings to sing in front of the TOTP logo in the Live Lounge or something!

Yes it's a properly good Christmas song too, which I hope could become a perennial.

Yes, it feels a bit of a throwback to her first album in places. Shocking that she doesn't even have enough fans left to guarantee a top 40 album, after how huge she was a decade ago.

Also heard it on Scott's Radio 2 show earlier in the day, as well as twice in an hour on TOTP!

They only lost 6,000 sales (and whatever they would've streamed on Thursday afternoon/evening) from releasing that day early though. I can't see that being the difference.

What do you mean by what it was before? I haven't noticed a change. But yes it is odd how they snub songs that seem perfect. The only thing I can think is that they are heavily influenced by pluggers, rather than looking at streaming numbers. So perhaps no one is particularly pushing Strangers to them.

Can I just ask.. why do people go to all the effort of posting updates but not bother saying who's #1? It's great so and so has sold 20 copies to make #187, but who is #1?

I'd like to see this for both the singles and albums chart.

He's got a couple of other recent remixes under this name online There was also "The Club Theme" which reached #247 in 2005 (when the chart was a top 250 for a bit!) I think it would just be that it doesn't make sense to call it Element Four since it's not on Channel 4 now.
