REVIEW: Now That’s What I Call Music! 111
The "DNC's" are generally stronger this time around than most of the chart hits. Yola, Holly Humberstone, and Foals for me Of the chart hits - either Acraze or Post Malone I will be in the vast minority - but I can't stand the Tiesto / Ava Max collab

Final Round : End Of Year Survivor No.62
A fairly terrible final from a fairly terrible batch of songs Honestly I think the Foo Fighters was the only decent one of the original 10 Out of these two though... Dumb is almost tolerable.

Santana feat. The Product G&B - Maria Maria
I can't decide if the current trend that insists every song must be "sped-up" and "chipmunked" is LAZY and ANNOYING. Or if I love that it gives random throwbacks like this or Miguel a second lease of life "The Game Of Love" is my Santana go-to

Now That's What I Call Music! Thread [Part 6]
Classic is pushing it a little, and the SEB cover had a niche fanbase at best. Semi popular Alcazar might be. But more worthy of a place over the Shaggy, Nelly Furtado or Usher tracks?

Now That's What I Call Music! Thread [Part 6]
Desert Rose is a good track. It didn't do much in the singles charts in the UK or Ireland so not the most well known track here, but I recall it did give the album a pretty decent boost. I can see how sound-wise it works as a good bridge between the guitars and the chillout of Pure Shores. The more baffling sequencing is The Corrs after Cartoon Heroes, or She Bangs cutting off the trance segment. The vinyl choices are odd. If you needed to cut 50% of the CD tracklist, I'm not sure why Alcazar or Cher would be among the survivors.

Now That's What I Call Music! Thread [Part 6]
THIS is very true The series is really DOOMED anyway, but if they are going to chase after a market, then it's really people who are behind on technology. The same people they're flogging endless 80s re-issues and "100 Number Ones" garbage to. So as odd as it seems, I think the "album sellers" are actually far more critical now than the chart hits. Someone who is interested in Skrillex, KSI or Central Cee will be perfectly happy sourcing it themselves without needing to deal with the Radio 2 brigade. On the other hand, many of the people who still want to listen to Simply Red and Shania Twain likely still rely on CDs for car journeys, and will still see the value in an "all-encompassing" compilation that means they don't need to put too much thought into their own playlist. So I'd actually BEEF UP that element, and perhaps devote ALL of CD1 to that demographic. Lead with the genuine crossover stuff (the Lewis Capaldis, Tom Grennans, Meghan Trainors) as they're already doing, but then go all in on the heritage acts. Leave CD2 to the more edgy stuff and the breakthrough artists, and maybe market it specifically as some kind of "Introducing..." or "New Music" package for those who are still semi-interested in keeping up to date. Just keep it separate. There's still MORE THAN ENOUGH music being brought out to justify three editions per year, so long as they accept representing the charts may not be the priority anymore. Continuing to chase "younger audiences" would be a completely fruitless exercise.

Texas - The Very Best Of: 1989 - 2023
It's a shame Getaway and Can't Resist have been missed, but not altogether surprising. Justice is long overdue for the poor old forgotten Mothers Heaven album too. Carnival Girl was pretty DREADFUL, so maybe for the best that disappeared. Looking at Spotify, there is SOME justification to their choices. It may not have hit the charts, but even 10 years after release The Conversation is still one of their more streamed tracks - it seems to be doing about 1m per annum, vs 60k for Getaway and only 25k for Carnival Girl TOP TEN according to Spotify 01. Say What You Want 02. Summer Son 03. Inner Smile 04. I Don't Want A Lover 05. Black Eyed Boy 06. In Our Lifetime 07. Halo 08. The Conversation 09. In Demand 10. Mr Haze

M83 - Fantasy
So what do we think of the full album now it's been out a couple of weeks? To my ears, no matter what statements they may put out about exploring new artistry, this is basically the SAME OLD SHIT we've all come to love from M83. And frankly that's VERY SPLENDID. 10/10.

Pre-2010 artists still relevant to today’s charts
I think Elton has more to do with that than Britney. He was coming off the back of a big number one hit with the same schtik.
