  1. Predictable top 3 for sure, but being honest a rather worthy one as well. And OMGYAY at Empire Of The Sun picking up so much appreciation. How We Are The People and Walking On A Dream weren't HUGE I really can't fathom.
  2. I must admit between Pixie (who really is the most BUDGET popstar we have at the moment) and Shontelle, I'm vaguely disgusted with the Buzzjack collective at the moment.

You just KNOW that he broke into the scriptwriter's office and inserted those scenes himself. Like Gary says, he is actually visually attractive for someone his age, but you just know that in reality you'd spend weeks trying to wash the grease stains out.

  6. Much as the sudden Atomic Kitten love is BEYOND me (what a load of SHIT), I have to say overall that's a better list of qualifiers overall this year. The difference in quality for the 2009 qualifiers in particular is ASTONISHING. Bravo Buzzjack

Kat and Alfie may have their flaws, and their on/off antics can be SOMETIMES a tad repetitive and tedious. But "lifeless" they've NEVER been.

Having watched the first two episodes now, I'm still not sure that this is QUITE going to match up to the previous series, but enjoyable nonetheless. The plot wasn't great; I think Torchwood is much better when exploring the human and social issues than when they try to compete with James Bond movies with action scenes and implausible gadgets - for my money the brief scenes at the hospital and the surgeon committees were far more interesting than watching the long and drawn-out Blue Peter style "wacky science" experiment aboard the plane. Having said that, I love fiesty Gwen when she gets in a tizz and the Welsh accent comes on thick; her screeching at the air stewardesses (who were also great fun) was a highlight. PR woman also looks like she's going to be providing much merriment. Katya Kinski from Neighbours ambling around with a back-to-front head was amusing and utterly ridiculous at the same time (if only Susan Kennedy had thought of doing that sooner!) - I do wonder if they used their SFX budget up on the suicide bomber and all those explosions in the first episode. On Bill Pullman however, I can only echo what others have said. That TV interview scene was utterly appalling and very awkward to watch. People mock John Barrowman for his OTT acting, but he's Oscar-worthy in comparison.

Indeed. Tom's issue was rarely that he was responsible for poor ideas or strategy (emergency biscuits aside), but that he wasn't confident enough in his own commercial awareness and too polite to put his foot down and enforce his views on his teammates.

He said they were researching new avenues for the nail file business. Which is presumably going to be depleting some of the £250k investment available for the chairs.
  22. Torple posted a post in a topic in Television
Indeed. It suggests he was only interested in investing in an existing business, in which case why even bother wasting the time of contestants he KNEW from the beginning didn't have their own business at the time? And it also wipes out his justification for firing Helen, which was based solely on her business plan. If he was willing to disregard Tom's original plan, then maybe he SHOULD have just gone into partnership with Helen and done the same for her. I like Tom but I can't even pretend that he was a better contestant than her.

It very much sounds like it doesn't it? Which kind of makes a mockery of the episode we've just seen.
  24. Torple posted a post in a topic in Television
I kind of have to agree. I can see why it was necessary to do it this way given the nature of the prize; at the end of the day the business plan is just as an important if not a more important factor when deciding who to invest in. I think the concept of the prize is flawed in itself though, in that essentially the Apprentice stopped being the Apprentice and became a Dragon's Den clone instead for the finale. And much as I'm thrilled Tom won, I can see that Helen would have great cause to feel aggrieved. In a past series she would have made for the EASIEST hiring of all-time. The contestants spend all those months taking in part in the tasks, which ultimately don't actually mean ANYTHING because in the end it all comes down to the business idea instead. But yes, the interviews felt that they were over far too quickly and there wasn't enough fighting and drama in the final boardroom. I think I'd have actually preferred a 2 hour finale focused solely on the interviews/decision rather than having it crammed into an hour and then wasting another hour hearing what Michael McIntyre thinks of the whole thing and seeing some clips of Jim wearing a brown turd drawn on Microsoft Paint.
