  1. I'm finding the same. Many of my top picks I used up in CD Swap 1, and although I've had a few more discoveries since last year, I am also using a few leftovers. I'm also spending an inordinate amount of time trying to order the whole thing. I know not why, because it's basically quite a pointless endeavour and it won't really make THAT much difference to anything. I've tried to go for a bit of variety for my CD (which essentially means there is NO chance of anybody liking every track here), but now the dilemma is whether to order the tracks so that they all flow, or whether to mix it up. Mixing it up makes for a jarring collection, but at the same time keeping everything in a more logical order means that some of the individual tracks lose a bit of their power and impact when piled up alongside other similar-sounding tracks. :drama: I have gained a new respect for those poor souls who spend months fretting over putting together a Now! collection (well not really but hey).

It might well be next week, it is quite deserving of a resurgence! The bizarre thing is, that much as Katie Melua has always been the kind of stereotypical Magic FM tat I usually go mad for, I never had any time for her until she gayed it up last year!

Agreed. I understand people feeling joy at this event (particularly those who lost loved ones to Osama), but Jesus talk about fanning the flames... Al Qaeda are already going to be baying for blood, and then they're going to see Americans hosting a giant RAVE PARTY to celebrate their leader being shot in the head. They seem to think that just because Osama is dead, that it means it's all over. It's almost INVITING retaliation.

Is there any evidence that Pakistan were actually aware he was in their territory?
  7. WHAT THE FOOK?! I know you are both rather dire at LIFE, but why the hell are you encouraging someone to WASTE THEIR LIFE in spamming incosequential SHIT throughout the rest of their days?

http://www.moopy.org.uk/forums/images/smilies/grin.gif Utterly NASTY as he can be, I do love a good Angry Silas rant. I encourage him on his new crusade to preach correct grammar to the dirty infidels.

They were both screwed the moment the writers decided they couldn't resist going down the all-too inevitable Max/Tanya route; the Max/Darren double-act doesn't really seem to exist any more, and Vanessa is now an inconvenient irrelevance. It's a shame, because I don't REALLY think it's any reason for them to be written out completely (although the DS article does seem to imply Charlie Hawkins at least chose to leave of his own accord). They could easily have found a place for Vanessa outside of Max, so I see no reason for her to leave; this is laziness on the part of the writers, nothing more. She hasn't been integrated in with the rest of the Square at all really, but all this meant is that they almost had a blank canvas to use (and a damn good one at that in Zoe Lucker) - with no real history bogging her down, they could have done anything with her.

Well that was a little galling to watch, if not terribly surprising. Did Amanda Holden REALLY stop someone from singing their very own composition because she wanted to hear him sing a generic cover instead? Says it all really.

5 VERY good songs in a row. I suspect I shall be upset to see some of the tracks that have beaten them to the top.

I'm not sure they'll EVER top season four, which had so many utterly repugnant personalities that you genuinely enjoyed seeing Sirallun kick to the curb (hello Michael Sophocles and ginger chinny Jenny Celery), and at the other extreme the GODLY Lucinda Ledgerwood.

Music Sounds Better With You is obviously a dance classic, and the basic backing track is utterly infectious. But it IS hugely over-rated; I much prefer the mash-up with Teardrops which eliminates the repetitive and damn annoying vocal, and replaces with a MUCH more tolerable one.
  15. Utterly bizarre and inexplicable as it is, I think it's safe to say Cherly has somehow managed to get her grubby little mitts on the prize. Baffling as some of his recent decisions have been, I don't see Cowell making comments like this unless there really is something behind them. How it's happened I genuinely can't fathom, because half of the people she'll be judging will be more established than her, but hey, at least it might remove her from our screens this autumn. If there's one thing that's guaranteed to kill a UK career, it's the public feeling like they've been abandoned for the US. Ask Joss Stone, Natasha Bedingfield or Tony Blair. Dannii shall finally be the QUEEN of the judging panel.

  18. Good GRIEF. Somehow I cannot see this fitting in with her supposed return to "sprock".
  19. Her utterly half-arsed Greatest Hits era suggests OTHERWISE. Dire non-event of a lead single and f*ck all promotion. Have a look at the completely amateur cover art for her GH and tell me she hasn't given up!

I think the scene ITSELF was fine - even had the reveal been done in public, the focus would have been on Jessie Wallace and Sam Janus regardless and they both did a fine job. The only thing that would have been different is we'd have had the usual "everyone-goes-silent-and-the-jukebox-magically-switches-itself-off" nonsense, which would only have served to make the scene seem a little more ridiculous and clichéd. It was just the build-up that's been a little flat (although I suspect a lot of that has to do with all the last-minute changes and the requirement to rush everything). There wasn't REALLY any noticeable change in how Ronnie had been the last week compared to how she's been behaving since the New Year, and so ignoring the advertising for the event, there was no real sense of everything hurtling towards that inevitable reveal.

I can only echo what most people have already said; - Jessie Wallace was AMAZING. Sam Janus and Scott Maslen weren't bad, but that reveal really did belong to Kat. - The reveal DID seem a little underwhelming. I was expecting a big pay-off at the end of this story, but instead we just get Ronnie deciding "oh I guess I'd better tell the truth" all of a sudden. I'm not saying the Ronnie/Kat scenes weren't good, they WERE, but I was expecting the reveal to be under more dramatic circumstances, and there should have been a PROPER meltdown from Ronnie rather than just more zombie stares (which we've already been getting for months). - I too fear for Vanessa. Since the Harry business died down, she really has been essentially a glorified extra. She's become an irrelevance in Max's life, and she's never really connected with his family - Abi and Lauren treat her as an inconvenience, and she's been excluded from nearly Branning drama. Add to that, Jodie is more pre-occupied with Darren than with anyone else, and it's very difficult to see where Vanessa fits in with the rest of the cast. The writers have shown no interest in developing her as a character; even when something happens that SHOULD have an impact on her, we don't get to see her reaction - Vanessa wasn't even mentioned when Max was planning to join Stacey as an international fugitive; her entire existence was just glossed over. It's a shame because Zoe Lucker should really be an absolute ASSET to the show, and Vanessa's a unique enough character to stand out when given the chance. I'd like to think that things will change, but sadly I suspect the more likely outcome is that Vanessa will be gone once Max inevitably ditches her for Tanya. - I really would like the writers NOT to go down the obvious Max/Tanya affair route. Not just because of the above with Vanessa, but also I've decided I quite like Greg, and much as Max is a great character he's just not DESERVING right now.
