More Zavvi stores to close - updated
I'm very shocked that Piccadilly is shutting down. I went in there last year and it was like Santas Grotto. I spent about 2 hours in there :P I'm expecting the Middlesbrough store to be one of the next to go. It's a dead loss in there at the moment. Very sad :(

Woolies Update
My mum used to work in Woolworths, and she said Wooiles 30 years ago was much like Wilkinsons is now. Most of the Woolworths i've been into are usually just down the street from an Iceland. God knows whats going to replace Woolies down our high street. The only 3 big name shops here now are Boots, Smiths and M&S (and even that has renamed itself M&S Outlet) We've got a Morrisons just off the highstreet and a Tesco a bit further still.

WHSmith Music News
The last CD i bought from Smiths was Madonnas 'Confessions on a Dance Floor' back in November 2005 (day of release no less :P) I was too impatient to shop around, i just wanted it! It was under a tenner though. They are so expensive, and there attitude towards CDs is a bad as Woolies used to be. Sticking a paper sleeve inside a crappy plastic case to take to the counter. Their DVDs are even worse. Taking the DVDs out and sticking the boxes on the shelf so all the grubby people can feel up the packaging before it gets bought. Their boxsets are always torn :(

Zavvi in Administration //
This is terrible news, but the optimist in me tells me that unlike Woolworths Zavvi might survive. I've got all my fingers crossed. I don't mind buying CDs online, but i love shopping and love looking around shops, especially music shops. I'll be absolutely devistated if Zavvi does go. If HMV goes i'll be mortified :banghead: I'll be chaining myself up to the store railings like the suffragettes I just feel for all the people who have jobs on the line. It makes you think which other shops might also be on the verge of closeing :(

Acts following their biggest hit with their smallest
Yeah they had their biggest hit (IDFLD) and followed it with their 4 smallest (aside from the 1st release of Laura). The next 3 singles totally bombed, but they made pretty bad single choices and they all had abysmal tracklistings. I remember Jake Shears admitting that they messed up the tracklistings and that the final formats were boring and unenticing.

Woolworths - 50% Off All Entertainment
is this true!?!?!? My local Woolworths is one of the very last in the area to close and it's open until the 5th :yahoo: I'll be making special daily journeys if i'm treated to those discount prices :yahoo:

2008's flops
I wouldn't say Madonna flopped. Her latest single did, but on the whole this year has been pretty good for her. Same for Kylie. She's had 2 top 10 hits and a pretty respectable (i think, given the circumstances) #36. The biggest flop this year, for me, is The Feeling. The album was rubbush compared to 12S&H, and they chose the worst 2nd single possible. They didn't really help themselves. Christinas comeback wasn't great, but it was only a GH. We knew from the start she wasn't going to be promoting and she still had a top 10 album and top 20 d/l only single. Not too bad considering! Sugababes. Their WORST SINGLE EVER!!! followed by their 2nd WORST SINGLE EVER!!!... It's a shame because the album is actually pretty good. Just a shame they are releaseing the c**p songs first. Mariah too. I honestly don't think there is much of a place for her in the UK market anymore. She tends to do much better in America. Maybe she should focus her output there... (I should point out that i do love E=MC2, but again, like many other acts this year, all the wrong singles were released! What the hell were they thinking not releaseing Migrate!?!?) One final word... Dido

Life without Woolies
When i went in on Sunday they seemed to have blocked off about a quarter of the store :o I'm guessing they were running out of stock to fill the store. It was chaos when i went in too

New Release Schedule (Physical): Monday 8 December
If Kylie is the only album out on January 5th then she might chart higher afterall :P

Life without Woolies
Our local Woolworths has been $h!t for a while. Yesterday it was just full of old ladies trying to find a bargain  It's all well and good them having 10% off entertainament, but they charge more then the supermarkets to begin with so it's still cheaper to go to Morrissons and Tesco. (Not quite as expensive as Smiths though. Their 'Chart Price' Killers was £13.99!! :o )

Big Acts Failing Expriencing 'Flop' Singles
I agree that their should be a chart which monitors all CD and download sales, but it shouldn't be the Singles chart - half of the songs aren't even singles! They are just cherry picked tracks off iTunes. They should do an additional chart just for singles. I dunno how they could determine eligability, but they must be a way. They should still combine physical with digital sales though. Other wise an artist would sell about 50 copies and make top 5! :P It's a shame about all these artists peaking low down though. I can't say it's not fair, but it does make me a bit mad :( I remember being devistated when Madonna peaked and #11 with Love Profusion! (truly heartbroken i was :P) Never in a million years did i imagine she's ever peak as low as #39 though. People being able to download a song weeks ahead of it's official release doesn't help either.

Shirley on 'The One Show'
They just had an interview with a woman from Peta and behind her there was a massive poster of Shirley behind her - you know the one http://japantalk.pe.kr/blog/attach/1/7190907478.jpg Just thought i'd pass it on in case anybody is interested :P
