Lily Allen is fighting the hard economic times by investing in art. The 23-year-old Smile hitmaker hatched the backup plan after briefly dating 45-year-old art dealer Jay Jopling, and hopes her new passion for paintings will increase her chances of making money during the global recession. She tells America's Interview magazine, “I’ve been getting into art recently. I bought a Christian Marclay piece off Jay Jopling. That’s a good thing to buy, art. Isn’t it? In this day and age? In a recession?” But the singer is not stopping with art - musing about how she could use the economic downturn to her advantage, she jokes, "I don’t know how they’ve managed to brand the recession. I think I might start to make my own cereal called Credit Crunch. It would just be a cereal laced with speed so you don’t need to buy food for the rest of the day.”

Lily Allen used to strip for cheap hair cuts. ]The 'Fear' singer has had the same hairdresser since she was 17 and admits she had a cheeky way of getting her locks trimmed for a discount price. She explained to Q magazine: "I used to flash Michael, my hairdresser, my tits for a discount. It was £5 for every flash. If I did it enough I'd get it for free!" The 23-year-old star also forced her friend and collaborator Mark Ronson to pay for a helicopter to take her to the Glastonbury music festival last year. The 'Stop Me' hitmaker had jokingly offered Lily "anything you want, a car, a driver, a helicopter" when she agreed to join him on stage at the event but was stunned when her assistant called him with a £5,000 quote for the helicopter she had booked. Mark said: "She completely took me seriously! And what was I going to say at that point? I had to f***ing pay for it. She got the helicopter."

Lily Allen is planning to be going on holiday with Lindsay Lohan when she finishes her current US promotional tour. “They have been getting on really well and they're planning a summer escape, along with Lindsay's girlfriend Samantha Ronson,” a source told The Sun. "They've discussed the Bahamas, and are also planning a trip to the Coachella Music Festival in April to see Amy Winehouse perform. They've discussed making a record together, possibly at a pre-arranged studio, while they’re away on holiday."

PETA bosses applaud Lily! Bosses at animal rights group PETA have applauded Lily Allen for turning her back on fur - and making it clear she'll never wear real animal skin. Fearing she'd be pelted with red paint as part of a PETA protest for wearing what looked like fur at a recent showbusiness party, the Smile singer made it clear she was wearing faux fur. Allen said, "My coat isn't real fur, but it was bloody expensive. Cover me in paint and I WILL send you the bill." But the pop star isn't on PETA's hitlist - the animal rights group approves of her stance. Spokesman Michael McGraw says, "We were surprised to see Lily Allen wearing what appeared to be a fur coat because we know her to be a big animal lover. So we were thrilled when she confirmed on (website) Twitter that it was indeed faux. "Perhaps she's following in the footsteps of Victoria Beckham - a supporter of PETA's anti-fur campaign - who routinely has designers remake their furs in high-end faux for her."

Lily Allen to star in Miss Marple? Lily Allen may be temporarily putting down her mike to star in Miss Marple. The Fear singer told New! magazine that she's a huge fan of the show and would love a role in it. "Really, I love the show, it's well written and has a great cast and I think I'd be great in it," she claimed. Lily also said she would jump at the chance to record the Bond theme. She said: "Who remembers the last one? It was a washout. Any girl singer would admit that she wants to sing - and even appear- in a Bond film. I'm no different."

Lily Allen not ashamed for undergoing therapy Lily Allen insists that she is not ashamed of undergoing therapy to come to terms with the problems she has had to face in her life. In an interview to Fabulous magazine, the 23-year-old star admits that she doesn't like to hide the fact. "I'm not ashamed of going to hospital or for therapy," the News of the World quoted her as saying. "Too many famous people try to hide the fact they've needed some help - it shouldn't be like that. "People with normal lives need a bit of help sometimes. My life is anything but normal. "It's weird. I've got a funny head and I need to sort it out sometimes. I go and see a head doctor and then it all makes sense" she added. At the age of 18, Allen was suicidal and checked into The Priory after her relationship with her then boyfriend, DJ Lester Lloyd, ended. That also inspired her chart-topping debut single Smile. The 'It's Not Me, It's You' hitmaker was so depressed following the miscarriage of her baby, fathered by Chemical Brothers' Ed Simons, 38, that she turned to professionals at a UK facility to help her come to terms with the tragedy.

I disagree with that, well partly anyway. At my high school we had to do a technology subject anyway and I chose Food Technology, although we didn't have to make a full course meal so yes in that way we did have it lightly. I made alternatives for vegetarians, so I tried out different foods which would be suitable for vegetarians but something quick and I found that challenging. However we got told a month before our coursework had to be in that everything we had to do was wrong, so everything had to be re-done including cooking, most people didn't even bother.
