  1. If the EU tries to foist a deal on us that's worse than No Deal, surely we should have the option to walk away, whatever the manifesto said?
  2. Updated to T40
  3. Why do you take that as read? I don't agree - we can still walk away with No Deal if necessary.
  4. Football politics lot?
  5. OK...
  6. And who do you think they would they conscript if they ever needed bodies for that EU army - I bet the young wouldn't be so keen under those circumstances... :teresa:
  7. Are you accusing them of using hyperbole?
  8. OK, do you think Eminem is a good role model?
  9. They gotta be kidding, thinking a poll of 1500 people means more than the GE... https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/polit...l-a9279996.html
  10. Well, abolishing the HoL, rather than merely reforming it, would remove one of the important checks in our democracy.
  11. In which post?
  12. That's the whole point of PR, smaller parties not getting swamped by FPTP.
  13. You make him sound like Jeffrey Epstein. :o
  14. So the SNP are now benefiting from a system designed to stop Labour, not them!
  15. 1. It's somewhat patronising to suggest that the 55% were naive. 2. Any proportional system rarely gives a party 50% of the votes/seats, so to suggest it was designed that way is a bit of a stretch. Also, I suspect the desire for Independence is somewhat overstated, due to the way FPTP distorts results - 48/59 seats, but on only 45% of the vote share. 3. I may be cynical, but I suspect the main reason Scots want to remain in the EU is that, as a small nation, they would be a net recipient. It may be stating the obvious, but they would have even less influence in the EU than they do in the UK.
  16. So how would you feel if a young woman went out independently 'gold-digging' for a rich older man - is that OK? What about a dating website set up for the same purpose?
  17. I take it you don't mean 'radical' in the Yes Minister sense... :P
  18. Who's denying that right? You *had* a referendum in 2014! You're arguing *against* a PR voting system? I find it ironic that Scotland argues that UK needs the EU so as not to be a 'small fish in a big pond', yet wants to do the same isolation trick itself?
  19. I agree, provided the comparison is apt... I have confidence in the checks & balances of the Constitution, which Nazi Germany didn't have.
  20. Comparing anyone to Hitler is never useful.
  21. You're still pushing this line, when it didn't work in the UK very recently either?
  22. I am not defending this, merely pointing out that proof is needed for allegations like this. Also, how can you tell the difference between only 'appearing to be willing' and actually being willing?
  23.
  24. Their willingness is the *crucial* issue here. If they are willing, then there is no problem - if they are not, then that is exploitation and hardly a positive thing!
