The Tory lies and deceit thread
You do realise that he's in an ultra-safe Tory seat, right? Even in 1997 they had a 27% majority!

General Election 2019 "The Poll"
On a side issue, I fail to understand why Labour under Corbyn aren't very popular in Scotland - after all, *he* can hardly be accused of being a Red Tory!

What do y'all know about Ireland, NI & the IRA?
If/when Ireland is reunited, surely there will no longer be a role for SF anyway?

Future of the monarchy
I thought we might welcome some relief from the election, so... Should the monarchy be abolished, and if so, who should be the head of state instead?

General Election 2019 "The Poll"
Re New voter registrations... It's not the number of new registrations that surprise me, rather the fact that there were so many people not registered in the first place! :o

OPINION POLLS 2018-2022
Excuse me?! I never said any such things about flood victims! :( I assume you meant '*heavily populated* areas, unless you think farm livestock are voting for the Tories... :heehee: I think 5% would be enough for one.

OPINION POLLS 2018-2022
Scottish opinion poll... https://www.express.co.uk/news/politics/120...nicola-sturgeon That I did *not* expect - I thought the Tories were the most disliked party in Scotland. :o

OPINION POLLS 2018-2022
There is a distinction between 'couldn't' and 'wouldn't', though.

OPINION POLLS 2018-2022
Maybe - but that's partly why he pushed for a GE, to try & get a working majority to push it through, not to mention a mandate on the basis of 'this is what the people endorsed'.

General Election 2019 "The Poll"
Received many campaign leaflets? Just 2 so far here, Greens & LD's - nothing from Lab or Tories.

The Tory lies and deceit thread
Leaving aside the fact the only the voters of Uxbridge and South Ruislip will be voting for him directly. Why does everyone seem to forget that they are only voting to choose their *own* MP?
-
General Election 2019 "The Poll"
Surely once Brexit is out of the way, they'll have more time for everything else - a working majority would help too.

OPINION POLLS 2018-2022
To be pedantic, how can they privatize what has already been destroyed? Not leaving at the end of October was due to parliament, not Boris specifically.

Thank you for this - a handy reference. :) Costings documents too - although it's debatable as to whether anyone will trust them... :heehee:

Should 16/17 year-olds be allowed to vote in UK?
 That's a new one on me - when did it become a crime to not let under-18's vote? I was 32 - so what? I was not excusing partisanship, only pointing it out.
-
The Official Labour Foot-Shoot Thread, Mk II
Not all of the new registrations will be young though - people move house al the time.

OPINION POLLS 2018-2022
1. Yes they *can*, and many do through charities - but surely you can see that it would be wrong to *force* them to, through state-sponsored 'theft'? 2. That why I *haven't* made that claim, and why I posed it as a question, rather than a statement.

The Official Labour Foot-Shoot Thread, Mk II
OK, fair enough.

Should 16/17 year-olds be allowed to vote in UK?
I was 2 months too young to vote in 1983 - I got over it. ;)
