  1. If the EU were to insist that all members have a PR voting system, then that's something I could get on board with...
  2. Is this how you boost your post count - double-posting? :P
  3. UKIP barely won any seats in the HOC, so that's not necessarily crucial for a Leave movement.

True - I didn't know who he was before that song!
  5. This thread has reminded me that I haven't yet posted my 'best non-T10, etc' sales estimates for 2019.

Wasn't sure where I should post this, but as it references politics, I thought it's better to be safe than sorry. ;) Do you have any particular favourites? Personally I'm not that keen on political songs, as I listen to music to escape from, not be reminded of, news in general. [Cue speculation on what ulterior motives I have for posting this. ]
  7. I find it hard to believe that there is *no* Leave movement in other EU countries?
  8. Wales voted for Brexit, don't forget - and that 40% wasn't remotely reflected in the GE - in fact Plaid Cymru's share even fell by 0.5% to 9.9%.

'Leaves on the line'? 'Wrong sort of snow'? :P
  10. Do you think that if you repeat this enough times it'll change anything?
  11. In George Orwell's '1984' he coined the name 'Goodthinker' for someone who instinctively said the right thing. That's just not me  I have to consider my words carefully to remain polite / not accidentally give offence, and doing so can sometimes be a right PITA. Should my attempt be given approval, or condemned because I have to make it?
  12. OK, that didn't work - i'll look In my own archive... I can do them, but it might be several days.
  13. I *do* accept it, but it is still contrary to the prevailing scientific opinion when I was growing up. Changing older peoples opinions is not an easy matter - often the best you can hope for is for them to keep their views to themselves, and wait for old age to claim them.
  14.  Are you trying to goad me into posting something that'll get me banned? If so, that would be trolling, and so you risk getting banned yourself...
  15. I'm not sure if this is the right forum, but has anyone used the above, and if so, is it easy to use? I'm trying to tidy up my music collection, and the number of duplicates is insane!
  16. Debating how many genders there are is a taboo subject - I've learned not to even *attempt* to start a thread on it as I'd get accused of trolling, or on other matters that 'progressives' seem to consider sacred. Also, I don't hate Remainers, although some seem to hate me for no reason other than I will no longer debate with them. Back to the point - I'm talking of a situation where a trans person looks androgenous, and you make an honest mistake, *not* a deliberate attempt to offend.
  17. I presume you wouldn't claim that all 17.4m Leavers were incapable of understanding the arguments presented in the referendum? Surely therefore you must concede that some of the cons of being an EU member must be valid, and to Leavers, those outweighed the pros of Remaining. https://www.ig.com/uk/financial-events/brex...-cons-of-brexit https://www.theweek.co.uk/brexit-0
  18. Because they had been virtually holding the country to ransom in the 1970's - striking at the drop of a hat, demarcation disputes, Winter of Discontent etc. Strikes were even known as the 'British Disease'. These days France is having problems of a similar nature.
  19. Nor does being too extreme - the French Revolution for example. There has to be a balance between the two - and when you can be accused of a hate crime for using the 'wrong' gender pronoun, that is not a sign of a healthy society.
  20. Exaggeration as usual.
  21. I'll check which ones it is missing.
  22. The UK's unwritten constitution, for example.
  23. I merely told the truth - I find the constant demands to justify opinions I've already explained many times, tedious. We both know that N&P rejects my explanations, yet regularly ask that I come up with 'real' reasons.
  24. I don't see Reactionary as a perjorative term myself - there's something to be said for tradition, after all.
  25. I just hope the Brexit debates tail off after January 31st so we can move onto new subjects.
