The xx 'I See You'
Didn't like it at all when I first heard it but it has grown on me.# They performed another one, 'I Dare You', as well. I wonder if the 'I ____ You' is some sort of theme? Probably coincidental... http://www.directlyrics.com/the-xx-perform...watch-news.html

Jones 'Indulge EP'
I've just given the album a listen through. There's not enough there for me which really sets her apart. There are a couple of really nice tracks but it does just seem to blend into one long song at points. Not bad but I'm not sure that the majority of it will get too many repeat listens for me.

Dirty Projectors 'Keep Your Name'
http://pitchfork.com/reviews/tracks/18539-...keep-your-name/ Here is their new single; this is their first new music since the amazing, amazing 'Swing Lo Magellan' album from 2012. That album is in my top 10 of all time, and probably in my top 5 listened to albums ever. This new single features a loop from their excellent 'Impregnable Question', taken from their 2012 record. I really like it. r9tbusKyvMY

2016-17 Vanaroma National League + Non-League Thread
Monumentally, North Ferriby United made it into the Conference last season. When you compare the size of the village against the likes of York and Chester etc., it really is a magnificent achievement. Financially the cannot compete with other teams in their division but that also means that the pressure is off. Picked up our first win of the season tonight in a 3-2 victory over Guiseley. I really can't overstate how much of a mismatch it is for them in this division - but this is also the team who won the FA Trophy a few years ago, so anything can happen. I remember about 5-6 years ago watching Ferriby beat Fleetwood in the Conference North and look how well they are doing now!

Buzzjack Community Awards - April 2016
A bit late, but I've just read the post regarding Luciano's passing in the Lounge. I remember him from when I first joined the forum, especially his posts in The Killers forum where we shared a keen interest in the band. I remember him being, amongst other things, extremely helpful, courteous and kind. I'm shocked and saddened to hear of what happened. I think the tribute is a fine way to pay respect to someone who was such a big part of the community for such a long time. May he rest in peace.

2016/17 FA Premier League
As a Hull fan, I'd sign Joe Hart up and have him play in the centre of midfield. Or up front. Or at the back. Anywhere* really as we still (!) haven't signed anyone yet. I really hope that Phelan gets the job. He deserves an enormous amount of credit for Saturday's performance and for how professional he has been when the shit has hit the fan over the past few months. *not in goal though

Mystery Jets
i LOVE MJ's - but this isn't their greatest record. I don't think it stands up particularly well to 'Radlands', and I didn't think that was their greatest record either. 'Bubblegum' is lovely, I agree, but it's probably one of only 3-4 that are really up there with their best stuff.

Wild Beasts 'Boy King'
A band that is constantly evolving its sound. One of the most consistent acts around. A really excellent album.

Sky Bet Championship
the mighty HCC! I would be suprised, if not annoyed, if we didn't end up the top 2 this season. If we can afford to leave huddlestone, aluko, etc. on the bench for beating the bookies faves, beat high flying Leicester in the LC and still be waiting on the likes of snodgrass, davies and diomande I should expect we will do quite well. I personally think that relegation has massively helped the make-up of the side; we have let a lot of riff raff go and signed some very exciting players (esp. clucas). exciting times!

Tame Impala >> "CURRENTS"
just a quick bump on this one unless something spectacular happens this is the best album of the year for me. I still need to listen to 'Divers' and a few others but I love the raw emotion, the lyrics, everything.

Bloc Party.
Kele looks like Ainsley Harriott in that video. It just comes as a band completely bereft of ideas who feel the need to continue making the same music they made years ago.

Grimes 'Art Angels'
The first thing I heard when I first listened was Annie. It's okay. I need to listen to it a few more times to make a judgement but I absolutely adored her last album so it's hard to compare (not that you can as these seem to be entirely different records altogether).

no, HI, i used to come on here a lot but haven't in some time, do you live in Hull?

Summer Transfer Topic 2014 - Window closed!
personally i'm really pleased with what we've brought in -- i think, although we are a little oversubscribed in the midfield department, the fact we've signed the two today on loan deals means we have no obligation to keep them. i'm most excited about the Diame signing - he's exactly the kind of player we need whilst our defense gets sorted. anything other than CHAMPIONS LEAGUE and i'll be calling for brucie to resign i'm afraid

he's been pretty good going forward so far but he's been let down by his defensive work, wing-back seems to suit his play though and I think he's going to end up being a steal (:

I did, it was quite refreshing to listen to a collection of songs that not only had I never heard before but that I would never usually listen to.

BJ CD SWAP #3 / reviews + reveal!!
I'm pretty infrequent on here these days so I don't blame you for not guessing correctly. (; Here was the tracklist as it was intended to be listened to (in three sections): 01 Gold Panda 'You' 02 SBTRKT 'Pharaohs' 03 Toro Y Moi 'New Beat' (Fare Soldi CantaTu Remix) 04 Mystery Jets 'Half in Love with Elizabeth' (Delorean Remix) 05 James Blake 'Lindesfarne' 06 The Presets 'If I Know You' 07 HEARTSREVOLUTION 'Digital Suicide Lullaby' - 08 FrYars 'The Ides' 09 Jai Paul 'BTSTU' 10 Cities Aviv 'Coastin'' 11 Glass Candy 'Geto Boys' 12 Big Boi 'Hustle Blood' (feat. Jamie Foxx) 13 These New Puritans 'Hologram' - 14 Camille 'Mars is No Fun' I hope that it makes the abrupt ending more clear as 'Coastin'' wasn't meant to be the last track. (: Thanks for the excellent review. The track that you seem to love is the Big Boi one, from his last album, you may have heard 'Shutterbugg' already. The whole album is fantastic. I love/hate Glass Candy for the exact reason you said ha. Glad you enjoyed the majority of it anyway, shame you already knew a few of the songs though aha. Thanks again. (:

BJ CD SWAP #3 / reviews + reveal!!
I had Over the Valley. Here's what I thought: 01 first thoughts were admittedly o no o no but I was pleasantly surprised by this track, a genuinely nice song with a more than decent vocal. Not something I'd necessarily choose to listen to by certainly not something which I would turn over. The song actually got better on the second listen. 7 02 this one didn't do much for me, sounded quite generic, one of my least favourite on the album. Again, it got slightly better on second listen but it wouldn’t be something I’d look into exploring more in the future. 2 03 this one just came across as incredibly dull, lyrically and musically. I found it hard to appreciate why someone would listen to this track beyond any personal significance. Inoffensive would be the best way to describe this I think. A very long 3:32. 1 -- holding my breath for the rest of the record, however; 04 this was my favourite track on the album easily. Sounded a little like Kathleen Edwards, I really enjoyed the vocals and the lyrics and it would be something I would listen to again on my own volition. Something about her voice interested me, simultaneous distinct yet familiar. It is this kind of female singer-songwriter that I enjoy listening to. A lovely track. 8 05 Again lack the last one, it had this touch of Kathleen Edwards which sounded familiar and enjoyable, and the somewhat morbid lyrics felt quite heartfelt which certainly contributed to the quality of the song. Again another which grew, significantly, on following listens, indicating that the record in its entirety is certainly a grower. My only complaint at this stage is that one song can easily blend into the next; however, this song and the one previous work excellently together, as the two strongest songs on the album. 7 06 male vocals, a slight let down from the previous track. Introduction of the piano lifts it slightly but the lyrical content is so typical that the song doesn’t seem to have any identity itself. Gratifyingly short; if it was any longer it would’ve received a much lower mark. 4 07 I scribbled “amiable” on first listen and this is the impression which stuck with me. I don’t really know what to say about it other than that I really didn’t enjoy it at all. At over five minutes it seems needlessly long for what it’s trying to say? I don’t know. The soporific vocals certainly don’t help. It’s just incredibly tedious delivery I think. Nowhere near as good as track 04/05. 2 08 this is Ryan Adams who isn’t my favourite artist but this is one of the better tracks of his I’ve heard. There are just myriad North American artists who do what he does better I feel. This is actually quite good though, pleasant surprise, not overly long which is good. May be willing to explore his discography more after hearing this. 6 09 this sounded a lot to me like Drive-by Truckers. Like the last song, it’s fine but it isn’t something I’d go for. There’s nothing wrong with it and I know plenty of people who would appreciate their music a lot more than me but still it’s a nice song. Pretty inoffensive though still. Not boring, just lacking impetus. 5 10 ah, a ballad, a nice change up actually haha. I haven’t heard this before although the singer does sound familiar. It’s a really good idea as it continues with the flow of the album hitherto whilst changing the pace slightly. It’s a shame there wasn’t another track like this in the heart of the album to break things up further. Unsurprisingly it’s not something I would choose to listen to but again not something I’d turn off. This grew on second listen as well. 6 11 I absolutely hated this. Microcosm for everything I dislike about this genre of music. A really sad end unfortunately. 0 So. overall, it was actually much better than I feared it would be after the initial listening. I appreciate the risk someone takes to enter a record like this and some of the tracks I genuinely enjoyed however I would say that overall it wasn't quite my thing. As was to be expected I imagine. STILL thank you very much. (: I have no idea who's it is, I am very out of the loop.
