Anyone remember this surreal sketch show? P0n4hclzCyE Easily my favourite sketch show of all time. Effortlessly original, dark and honest. 9Y0IqAeuuuY Wonderful.

Just a thought, I was wondering if anyone would like to contribute a 2011 editorial to be posted on the main page. Perhaps an article summing up the year in general, or one focused on singles or albums or maybe even a particular artist or genre. I've seen something on here about the successes of BBC Sound of 2011 which would be interesting if it was put into article form. If anyone has any ideas or feel they would like to contribute in any way please post below or PM me if you wish. I'm sure that any contributions would compliment Simon's weekly reports so any ideas are welcome. Thanks. (:
  3. I played 'Asking for Flowers' repeatedly when I first heard it. This leaked ages ago but with the release still quite a way away I presume that wasn't a finished/mastered version.

1 The Weeknd - House of Balloons - I haven't quite become engulfed in the euphoria surrounding him yet but I'm slowly coming round I guess. I absolutely adore 'Crew Love' on the Drake album. 2 Glasvegas - EUPHORIC /// HEARTBREAK \\\ - Addmitedly not listened to this after the dire first record they put out. 3 Medina - For Altid - nh 4 The Weeknd - Thursday - see first comment. 5 The Throne - Watch the Throne - nh 6 Active Child - You Are All I See - I don't like Active Child. It's all just noise to me. o: 7 Yelle - Safari Disco Club - this really seemed to go a little under the radar this year, just like the new Camille album. 8 Future Islands - On the Water - don't like. 9 ritualz - Ghetto Ass Witch (EP) - nh 10 Drake - Take Care - I've tried to love this but it still hasn't 'clicked' for me. There are a couple of obviously fantastic tracks on there though. I also like: 14 jj - kills - kind of like this. Hasn't made a lasting impression though. 15 Chad VanGaalen - Diaper Island 18 Panda Bear - Tomboy 20 James Blake - James Blake 29 Frank Ocean - nostalgia, Ultra - I've never had the inclination to listen to this record although I've always been impressed with what I've actually listened to. 37 Neon Indian - Era Extraña 43 Destroyer - Kaputt 47 Camille - Ilo Veyou

  6. I like these: 51 M83 'Hurry Up, We're Dreaming' 49 James Blake 'James Blake' 43 Arctic Monkeys 'Suck It and See' 41 Destroyer 'Kaputt' 36 Metronomy 'The English Riviera' 34 Lykke Li 'Wounded Rhymes' 30 jj 'Kills' 23 Friendly Fires 'Pala' 20 Washed Out 'Within And Without' 17 Death Cab for Cutie 'Codes and Keys' 09 Drums 'Portamento' 08 Bon Iver 'Bon Iver' 07 Vaccines 'What Did You Expect From The Vaccines?' 06 Wild Beasts 'Smother' 05 Fleet Foxes 'Helplessness Blues' - I thought this was okay but certainly not up to the level of 'Fleet Foxes' which is up there with my favourite albums of all time I'd say. 04 Pains of Being Pure at Heart 'Belong' - again, liked this but their first album is one of my favourite of the last few years and this doesn't quite match that. But looking at it singularly it's certainly an impressive record. I can see them getting a little samey though if they keep releasing music of the same ilk... 03 Horrors 'Skying' - never been impressed by any of the Horrors stuff in all honesty. 02 Wu Lyf 'Go Tell Fire To The Mountain' - this really slipped under the radar after the press about their elusiveness ha. It was okay but certainly not up the 'hype' so to say. 01 Ben Howard 'Every Kingdom' - I never liked this... he just seemed a little bit David Gray crossed with Mumford and Sons to me. Certainly surprised to see the amount of love he has on here. What did you think of the latest Los Campesinos! album Mark? ;o

Both episodes have been let down slightly by their endings. I preferred the acting and the concept in the 2nd episode but I adored the first so much, had me on the edge of my seat for much of the 2nd half.

Anyone else watch this tonight? I though it was excellent. Although I wasn't keen on the '1 Year On' at the end. I thought that wasn't in keeping & wasn't as strong as the programme as a whole.
  9. Underwhelming, again, for me. I thought 'Video Games' was all hyperbole and this is very much the same. I also find something off-putting about her, not sure entirely what though.
  10. Okay, so after a few listens, it still all just rolls into one monotonous, over-long track to me. I like 'How Come You Never Go There' but it seems like it's an album of that song repeated just not as good! I shall persist a little longer. I didn't like 'The Reminder' at all when I first heard it and that got better with time.
  11. This is excellent! I'd put 'I'm Not Ready' almost on par with the sublime 'Swim.'

Okay. Well it wouldn't have to be every day; 3 or 4 times a week, or even just when anything important is announced would be okay. In terms of reviews, obviously keep the reviews in the review section but just add a little except of the review, with a link, whenever there is a news bulletin - not to put the reviews on the news section itself.

Thanks for the support, need some volunteers though! If any of you are interested in contributing PM me, doesn't matter how large/small or how often.

Good to know! Hopefully, with enough support, this could be up and running by this weekend. It would be nice to have as varied and plentiful support as possible. Let me know if you're interested in contributing.

Hi all, I'm hoping some of you will contribute to this. I'm hoping to put out a daily 'news bulletin' on the front page. Not as late as this regularly, usually around 10-10:30 every night, which would contain the 'big' entertainment and music stories and I'm hoping that a few of you will be interested in taking part/help. Here are some ideas for daily sections which I thought we could include: » a daily section on the 'midweeks', just giving a taste of what is happening without really giving much away - any big surprises, monumental sales etc. » every Sunday/Monday, a section on the latest releases, with a link to MK's 'New Release Schedule' » perhaps some international chart news if that interests anyone » a weekly or so-on round up of pop/indie/rock/dance/r'n'b releases and news » general news pieces, summarised quite succinctly - hopefully around 5/6 per day, which could be sent to me before a certain time and I could include them in the post (w/credit.) » HOPEFULLY links to reviews; nice popularity for the review section and maybe inspire a rekindling of that area - I really like the idea of having excepts and links to the reviews in the news section » definitely links to the forum itself; such as competitions (BJSC, Unknown Pleasures, AF's) when necessary and then any other suggestions which people think could be interesting? Let me know in here or my PM or whatever if it would interest you - we could also do things such as editorials/general articles (doesn't have to be reviews) which would complement Simon's wonderful chart round-up really well. It would give some of you a chance to express your writing skills (if it interests you) and would hopefully lead to more people joining the forum.
  16. I thought the first PNAU album (not including 'Embrace') was a bit hollow to be honest. Maybe I need to revisit it. Ladyhawke's first album was okay - 'Back of the Van' was certainly my favourite.
  17. Just finished voting. Quite disappointed really, nothing at all stood out to me as being particularly special. :(
  18. 'All About Tonight' is shit. Let's face it. It's absolutely rubbish. Recycled, radio-friendly DRIVEL that is exactly the sort of bollocks people seam to eat up. The video is a complete non-entity... I mean what is it meant to be? Pixie trying to look '2009Gaga' in a variety of unflattering outfits with a hodgepodge of emotionless DRONES dancing behind her. No. Poor.
  19. Bit of both. I don't think she's putting it on as much as, say, Marina is in her latest effort. Perhaps the lack of 'idea' will lead to an album of spontaneous magnificence which is lacking in the efforts of other artists in 'her' genre. It's hard to be completely, one hundred percent natural/original because no matter what she did she would be compared with others.
  20. Hate it. It's starts of all Calvin Harris and then develops into something which is tuneless and lyrically terrible. Really bad.
  21. I quite like the song, I strongly dislike the video, I quite like her. The album will just be full of wishy-washy cool-pop though won't it?! She really needs her personality to come through on it. I don't think this song would be anywhere as appealing if it wasn't realised as a single. The only reason I like the 'Beat of my Drum' video is because she seems to be coming through on it so well. She needs to make sure she has the tunes to back her up though. Not that anyone's going to buy it mind... Her pseudo-naivety is endearing to a certain degree... won't sell her many records though.
  22. I don't like the artwork. It doesn't look artsy, it doesn't look 'cool', it looks try hard and, paradoxically, tacky.
  23. Rilo Kiley are one of the few bands that I still listen to regularly (I appear to have 'gone off' music as of late) and surprisingly I quite liked 'Under the Blackout' (probably because it coincided with when I first heard of them.) She should work with The Watson Twins again because when they work separately they are both really poor.
  24. I'm really enjoying this too. 'Hopsice' was a favourite of mine a few years back and it's nice to see a band maintaining their quality.
  25. What is your wanted career choice? And why is there not much hope?
