Completely insane idea. It's far better to reward for total sales than peak chart position. I agree with what someone else said, that we could possibly end up with 52 number 1's a year now.

It'd be interesting the official chart went back to being on Tuesday like it used to be, and announce it on a TOTP type show at 8pm after Eastenders. It would be difficult for any X Factor effect to happen then. Also new releases would only have 3 days. But of course everybody would just release on Wednesday instead. Oh well, who cares. The charts are beyond help now.

I think the rule needs changing regarding pre orders. If someone pre orders a song of Itunes, that purchase should not be allowed to be "banked" for say 4 weeks. The purchase should count that very week, regardless of if it is still 4 weeks off release date. Something has to be done to prevent this frontloading that is destroying any credibility the charts had left.

The time has never been better for Top of the pops to return, or at least another chart based show like it. To stop Cowell manipulating the charts every Autumn.

I'm hoping that with the return of the tv series "Life on Mars", we may see an old 70s song back in the chart. Something like "Blockbuster" by "The Sweet" would be cool. I know its on both the "Life on Mars" and "Hot Fuzz" soundtrack albums.

I don't know if anybody else has said it, but the View song sounds like "Brimful of asha"

I wonder how many Bryan Adams "Summer of 69" sold, I know it only peaked at 42. Presumably there can't be many songs that popular that charted so lowly.
