  1. Yes, the cover was very ‘meh’ if you ask me. I’m going to continue this countdown soon (a bit bussy with work) :) Any predictions?
  2. Nice! Any footage?
  3. Agreed! Though the material itself wasn’t new (besides DQ). I did enjoy the DVD-version as I finally could play all their videos
  4. #9 The ultimate collection Boxing day 2001 was a very sad one for Steps fans as the band had anounced they had split. After the group spent much of 2001 strongly dismissing claims of a split, fans were furious and accused the group of capitalising on the success of a host of merchandise released in the lucrative pre-Christmas market. However, it has since come to light that both H and Claire left the group on the last night of the Steps' Gold: Greatest Hits tour, because of their ongoing unhappiness within the group, although Steps' official statement stated that the split was caused by their belief that they should end on a high, while they were at their best and could be remembered for being the best of their kind. For years nobody had any hopes the band would ever come back after this. Then, ‘Steps: Reunion’ premiered on Sky Living on 28 September 2011. Resolving their issues from the past it was time for a serious reunion. This included a big tour and the release of The ultimate collection. The album was released on 10 October 2011 through Sony Music Entertainment. It features Steps' first recording in ten years, a cover of Dancing queen. In its first week the cd debuted at number one in the United Kingdom selling 34.000 copies (current sales are over 338.787 copies). The ultimate collection also reached #1 in Scotland and #13 in Ireland. My personal opinion in this album? Yes, I was really happy with their reunion. Moving on from the past they had everyone in full nostalgia mood. This album? It got them a third #1 but it doesn’t add a lot for me on a personal level. It’s basicly Gold plus their version of Dancing queen as an extra track (which isn’t their best cover in my opinion). Thoughts?

  12. #10 Tears on the dancefloor: Crying at the disco At #10 we find the reissue of their 2017 comeback album Tears on the dancefloor. After the original album did very well it was time to push it to gold status. Released on oktober 27 in the same year it had five new songs and some remixes added to this new package. It resulted in the album going back to the top 10 (#8) and hitting gold status in the end. Overal sales stand at 125.940 which is a succes, especially in the current sales climate. To me this one feels double. I’m happy it gave the album more weeks in the chart and pushed it to gold status. On the other hand the new tracks didn’t add a lot to the original if you ask me. It’s not that they are terrible, just a bit underwhelming. Your opinion?

  15. #11 The last dance Next we have their second compilation album ‘The last dance’. This one got released after their split and seemed to be a bit of a cash in. There wasn’t a lot of promo for this one (duh) and the overal feel was a bit rushed. Throughout the years they did pay a bit more attention to this release as a 49 track edition is currently available digitally. Released on November 25 in 2002 it ended with a measly peak of #57 in the UK and #64 in Scotland. It did however sell a decent amount of copies to reach gold status (over a 100.000 copies sold). So despite it’s peak it isn’t their worst selling album actually. At the time I was happy it got released because I finally had some tracks on cd (like Mars and Venus). Nowedays I’m not bothered about this release as I barely give it a spin. Your opinion?
  16. Yes! Can you imagine if this was the last we heard of them :o More results coming soon
  17. Merry X-mas
  18. Also: The last dance (cassette), Buzz (European cassette), It’s the way you make me feel (European cd) and Here and now/You’ll be sorry (cd2).
  19. #12 Light up the world Kicking of this countdown is Steps Christmas inspired and not so loved Light up the world album. Their reunion in 2012 was succesfull because the band resolved their issues and people were in full nostalgia mood with the tour and the release of the Ultimate collection. Was this enough or did the band want to do more after this and maybe release a whole new album? Sadly (in this case) they did.. Light up the world was released on 12 November 2012 after it was announced on 24 September 2012. It is the band's first studio album since 2000's Buzz. It is also the first release on Steps' own label, Steps Recordings. Recording sessions began in August 2012, and took place over a period of two months, concluding in October 2012. But why this release? Giving Steps a more mature sound this album resulted in a very boring one and all the Steps magic had gone..Barely making it into the album top 40 it peaked at a not very Steptacular #32 in the UK and #38 in Scotland. Luckily they learned from this misStep and made everything right 5 years later! Your opinion?
