Paddington James ranks the 2011 #1's
Great track. All of Nero's first 3 hits made my EOY that year. Another case of an act not having sustainable longevity after though.

'What Makes You Beautiful' was a great debut for 1D. I like several others of theirs but wouldn't class myself as a major fan though. 'Louder' is good too but it's roughly around the same for me as for you!

I don't know if I would have got 'True Blue' being one of Madonna's #1's in the 80s if I was quizzed on it. It's okay but her other 80's #1's are far better (though not crazy on 'Who's That Girl' either actually). 'The Lady In Red' whilst I don't dislike it, it is pretty naff and plodding. Would've swapped this and 'A Spaceman Came Travelling' around positions wise and that is one of the really great Christmas songs to never be a regular top 40 returnee. Could really do with a new peak :( 40 feels unjust. (I did suddenly tweak that this was what most in here were talking about too!)

Round 7 : End Of Year Survivor #145
Was between Love Inc and Sugababes (and MGMT) but settled on the former. A great top 4.

I'm a little surprised that's out that low for you tbh. It's fun but I prefer several Pixie songs over it. Her songs haven't aged too greatly tbh as they are very of the time.

I knew the Gareth one first obviously but I'd say this one is my favourite overall version of the track!

Julian rates every Top 40 hit: the 1980s edition
I like that 'Only You' cover. Think i heard that version before Yazoo's but both are great. 'My Oh My' is up there with Slade's very best for me. Probably even my favourite of theirs. It's better than the overplayed 'Merry Christmas Everybody' too. 'Bark At The Moon' is great from Ozzy. Fab stuff from the likes of MJ, Culture Club, Paul Young, Lionel Richie, The Cure and Tracey - 'They Don't Know'. Also enjoy 'Safety Dance' and 'Uptown Girl' as well.

Oh right I've got what you mean. Was getting mixed up with being in a band going to 1 and then a achieving a solo #1 but yeah your right with Adele lol. I should imagine she will be right at the end anyhow.

Dappy being the other one I think as he was on 'Number One' with N Dubz.

Yeah I forgot this counted as a first solo for Cher. Slightly memory lapse already lol. Not a fan at all. Hugely irritating and crap for me.

That narrows it down to 2 then. Or 3 forgot about Cher on X Factor Finalists for a moment lol
