Round 8 : Year End Survivor No.94
Second single released from Anastacia's third album which is a self title and peaked at number 4 in July 2004. For it's hook line, it samples vocals sung by Sohan Lal in Punjabi from the sample library "Deepest India" (also used in "Let the Music Play" by Italian music project Shamur). Dil La Liya Be-parvah dey naal which is the sentence repeated in the sample can be translated as "I gave my heart to someone who does not care". It slips out in 4th place. 4. Anastacia - Sick and Tired (11/36 Votes) [30.56%] 5. Manic Street Preachers Ft Nina Persson - Your Love Alone Is Not Enough (9/32 Votes) [28.12%] 6. Ah 'Knights' is sounding really nice. Like how it builds and flows!

Guess the song
Nakatomi - Children Of The Night IF - HBL

Alicia Keys - The Element Of Freedom
Well 'Distance and Time' and 'This Bed' sounded better going through these again (did skip the majority of singles as know and love/like those). There's one or two in the middle I wasn't so crazy on and 'Love Is Blind' wasn't grabbing me too highly either still but it's a lovely album nonetheless. Have Voted for (obviously) 'Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart' for Fave and the intro for least fave as there wasn't anything to go off and some brief clips in intros can be quite good sometimes.

RATE: Chappell Roan - The Rise & Fall of A Midwest Princess
Bound to have had this sooner rather than later lol. Admittedly not heard all the tracks so I'll go over the 5 I haven't. She has so many bangers!

Round 7 : Year End Survivor No.94
Manics fall at 5th in a very close round with their 2007 lead single 'Your Love Alone Is Not Enough' with an helping hand from The Cardigans lead singer Nina Persson. It comes off the album Send Away The Tigers and is reportedly written about the disappearance of their band member Richey Edwards who vanished in 1995 and the title track is specifically the words used in the note left before that occurred. It hit the charts in May of 2007 and ended up at 2 behind 'Beautiful Liar' by Beyoncé and Shakira! 5. Manic Street Preachers Ft Nina Persson - Your Love Alone Is Not Enough (9/32 Votes) [28.12%] 6. R.E.M. - The Great Beyond (10/33 Votes) [30.30%] 7. Eminem - Cleaning Out My Closet (9/29 Votes) [31.03%] 8. Pitbull - Hotel Room Service (10/30 Votes) [33.33%] 9. The Final : End Of Year Survivor No.93
Dropping out before the final we have Canadian star Shania Twain with 'I'm Gonna Getcha Good' which is the lead single from Shania's fourth album Up and comes after the hugely successful and spread out across 3 years album Come On Over which spawned countless big radio hits which we all know well. This one came out in October 2002 and peaked at number 4 and is ever the catchy number which sees Shania in a dystopian futuristic setting ie like in a video game where she's riding a motorcycle out of a secret location and cruising the city as other stuff happens as the video goes on. There are SIX versions of the video too including red and green remixes. Filming took place and was shot in London! 3. Shania Twain - I'm Gonna Getcha Good (15/30 Votes) [50.00%] 4. Robbie Williams - Something Beautiful (23/29 Votes) [79.31%] 5. Kanye West Ft Lupe Fiasco - Touch The Sky (18/33 Votes) [54.55%] 6. Shaggy Ft Samantha Cole - Luv Me Luv Me (16/29 Votes) [55.17%] 7. Mariah Carey - Touch My Body (14/40 Votes) [35.90%] 8. Ironik Ft Chipmunk and Elton John - Tiny Dancer (16/35 Votes) [45.71%] 9. The Game Ft 50 Cent - How We Do (10/34 Votes) [29.41%] 10. Duncan and Keedie - I Believe My Heart (18/34 Votes) [52.94%] Vote for your WINNER!

Sugababes-Angels With Dirty Faces
:hi: all, we are back with an album to check out as part of our listenthrough and review/comments for a week and we decided to go for an act who has their own artist forum on the site in the form of Sugababes with their 2002 album Angels With Dirty Faces. This one came with the mega hits in 'Freak Like Me', sampling 'Are We Friends Electric' by Gary Numan and Tubeway Army and 'Round Round' as well as 'Stronger' and 'Shape' which the latter uses the sample of Sting's 1993 song 'Shape Of My Heart'. It reached number 2 in the charts. We thought this would be a great album to go over as it's one of the best girl group albums! dSAGsiVSoeE?si=PUgUB-uVgA7Ihqp_ FHh86ySgKrA?si=R4LMtO-jdXL4TLpZ SQ7iZ-cxyA0?si=EVFjngudbHrbTeok dCDXh2Fc284?si=fldf3qKFn5sFRl-f IpzFuRQ-1hY?si=us28H9WQ1QYB1vwz Total length : 54 mins, 23 secs

Julian rates every 21st century Top 40 hit
Week 44 Island In The Sun > Chop Suey! > The Legacy > Don't Need The Sun To Shine (weaker than the singles before it but still find this pretty nice) > Closer To Me (and whilst I get the drab comments.. I also really liked this too oops and bought it at the time) > Rock The House > Why Can't You Free Some Time > Young Fresh N' New > I'm So Crazy > We Fit Together Week 45 : pretty solid bunch for the most part and wouldn't usually put Slipknot bottom but that one didn't stand out as particularly interesting. Fallin (can't really be anything else on top, just an excellent debut and each part is grand) > Bohemian Like You > Would You Be Happier (the amount of times this played in the car, nice little wistful track) > Rapture > Stay With Me > Dreams > I'm Real > Waiting > That Day > Livin' It Up > Party Hard > Are You Lookin' At Me > Letter 2 My Unborn > Boiler > Left Behind.

This was my AQ trance entry to BJSC in 2018. Worth putting here as it was a lush discovery for me. WvOnvyd8Zr0?si=TZc-nEPzns2NhjUd

Julian rates every 21st century Top 40 hit
Week 42: In The End > Flawless > Has It Come To This? (didn't know they were around in 2001, well it's a solid debut from them too) > The Trees/Sunrise (both very pleasant, liking the instrumentation on each) > Since I Met You Lady/Sparkle Of My Eyes > You Rock My World > Drawing Rings Around The World > Brown Skin (nicely sung but not really doing much for me overall) > Please Save Me > When It's Over (it's no 'Every Morning and rather uninteresting too) > U Got It Bad Week 43: One Night Stand > I'm A Slave 4 U > Halfway Around The World > Because I Got High > Izzo (H.O.V.A.) > The Block Party (this is different for what I expecting from Lisa and in a positive way!) > Bouncing Flow (catchy rap track) > Course Bruv > Sambuca > Where The Party At > Loving You (Ole Ole Ole)

Just checking a couple from the last set as didnt comment on those. 'Lonely Days' isn't one I knew of Bee Gee's I don't think but is sounding good again from them. 'Apeman' is quite good too!

Round 6 : Year End Survivor No.94
Perhaps surprisingly 'The Great Beyond' is R.E.M.'s highest charting single in the UK peaking at number 3 in 2000. I say surprise because lots of their other well known tracks get played on radio instead of this yet charted lower. It's a song recorded for the Man On The Moon film which is a biographic film and the title comes after the band's 1992 song and sees Jim Carey portray who the film is based around - Andy Kaufman who was a American entertainer and performance artist. Others that star in the film include Danny DeVito and Courtney Love. R.E.M. lose out in 6th place in this survivor! 6. R.E.M. - The Great Beyond (10/33 Votes) [30.30%] 7. Eminem - Cleaning Out My Closet (9/29 Votes) [31.03%] 8. Pitbull - Hotel Room Service (10/30 Votes) [33.33%] 9. Daddy Yankee - Gasolina (12/39 Votes) [30.77%] 10. Atomic Kitten - If You Come To Me (9/36 Votes) [25.00%] Vote Your Least Fave!
