Samsung Electronics has signed a deal with chart topping band Girls Aloud to market the company's music products, through a series of promotional campaigns for mobile phones and MP3 players. The deal, which was brokered by the girl group's parent label, Universal Music UK, is likely to include promotional campaigns involving mobile media and MP3 tracks, but there are no specific details at present. Samsung began its partnership with Girls Aloud earlier this year by sponsoring the Dublin leg of the group's 'Greatest Hits' tour. Girls Aloud, who are signed to Polydor Records, already have a multimillion-pound tie up with Unilever hair care brand, Sunsilk. They promote the brand's in-store marketing and on-pack promotions, as well as appearing in a Sunsilk TV ad. Band member Sarah Harding also has an existing deal with lingerie manufacturer Ultimo, and Cheryl Cole has fronted ad campaigns for Coke Zero. Anthony Marsella, chief marketing officer at Samsung Electronics UK, said: "We wanted to work with an artist that could give us instant access to millions of homes in the UK and would also give us credibility with those audiences. "We knew that we would need to approach a label partner that had both the vision and capabilities to recognise our needs and could understand the desired fit with our band." Since being formed on the reality TV show 'Popstars the Rivals', Girls Aloud have notched up 13 consecutive top 10 singles, including 'Sound of the Underground', 'Love Machine' and 'Something Kinda Ooooh'. The band also released a joint single with Sugababes in aid of Comic Relief, and a cover of the Aerosmith and Run DMC classic 'Walk This Way', which went to number one in the UK chart.

Kaiser Chiefs, Girls Aloud, Amerie and Mutya Buena have been added to the T4 On The Beach line-up. They will join a star-studded bill which includes Maroon 5, Calvin Harris, Mika, McFly, Akon, Natasha Bedingfield and Just Jack on the main stage. Each act will treat the 30,000-strong crowd to two to three performances of their best-known hits. At this year's event on July 22, 4Music will host their very own stage which will include confirmed performances by Mark Ronson and Badly Drawn Boy. The 4Music stage will also host the winner of the online 4Music unsigned competition, which has seen more than 500 bands enter to date. For fans that can't be at the gig, June Sarpong, Steve Jones, Miquita Oliver and special guest presenters will guide the crowd and viewers at home through the day of music. Another new addition to this year's event will be The Aygo Disco. Members of the audience will have the opportunity to try their hand at DJing in front of a packed crowd. The Disco will also host sets from special celebrity guests who will be making impromptu appearances throughout the day.

Teenage pair fix Girls Aloud show Two teenagers who started organising rock concerts in their spare time after school have now booked Girls Aloud, one of pop's biggest attractions. Alex Darlington and Aaron Kirkhouse, both 19, hope to attract more stars after the talent show winners play at Pembrokeshire's Oakwood Theme Park. They run Mint Gigs full-time and have booked the five-piece band on 21 July. They said it was hard to persuade bands to travel to the county but they aim to bolster its live music scene. With private financial backing, the friends have hired Oakwood on the night and are aiming to attract up to 7,500 people. Mr Darlington said the chart-topping band formed after winning ITV's Popstars: The Rivals were the biggest name to play the county that he could recall. We are trying to build up a reputation and demonstrate we can make a success of it Alex Darlington "It's very hard to get bands to come here and it's the first time a band of this size has come here for a long time," he said. "I think Wales - not just Pembrokeshire - is sometimes overlooked. There are a lot of people living here." Mint Gigs started life when the business partners were still in sixth form. "We were doing small rock nights at a local club with a 500 capacity," added Mr Darlington. Since then they have staged gigs around Wales and as far afield as Liverpool but nothing on next month's scale. "We have brought signed bands to Pembrokeshire - they are starting to realise it's not at the end of the earth," he added. "Sophie Ellis-Bextor is going down to the Queen's Hall in Narberth - it's nothing to do with us - but it's good for us that it's happening." Rides The theme park will be open to visitors as usual on 21 July before shutting at about 1700 BST. It will then reopen for concert-goers an hour later and they will be able to enjoy the rides before the show starts at 2100 BST. "To book them we went through the normal boring process of contacting the agents and making an offer - having Oakwood gave us a lot of weight." He said he hoped it would become an annual event and further down the line there are plans for a festival in the county. "When you are talking about something like this it's a struggle to get the local authority convinced it can happen - that's why we are trying to build up a reputation and demonstrate we can make a success of it."
