  1. ditto. Not a programme I enjoy watching. The things I do for Darius, lol. At least no one spotted me hiding behind my hymn book.
  2. It poured with rain here - all through the funeral. We got wet, cold and very muddy

Interviews where I work are done on a scoring system. There are a set list of questions and each one is scored either 0, 1, 2, 3 depending on how fully the question is answered. Each question is also weighted according to importance either 1, 2, 3. So an important question is given a three and if the candidate scores 3 then the two are multiplied together to give a total score of 9. Whoever gets the highest score is the one who is offered the job. Only if several candidates score the same do you take other things into account

The first time we went to Florida, we saw the space shuttle taking off. We were driving to Disney world. Everyone stopped their cars and watched. It was amazing. Meg, you'd be an asset to any company - they just need to realise this.
  5. So sorry to hear about your friend BT. Such a shock. Death is never easy but all you can hope is that it's peaceful and they don't suffer too much pain. My daughter is fine, her nose didn't even hurt afterwards.

Not all men are like that. I know a few (including my dad) who are experts on computers and I'm lucky that I know a computer whizz who can fix any problems that I can't.
  9. And she is moaning about missing coffee. Well, I'd better go and wake her up.
  10. Thanks, I'm sure it will. The worst will be dragging her out of bed at 5am.

My hubby is a techno-phobe. He doesn't even own a mobile phone and panics if the computer does something unexpected like pop up with a message. He can just about manage to surf the net and send an email but that's it. I'm the one who wires up dvd players, video, tv.
  12. My daughter is weird - I think she is quite looking forward to it. She actually asked to have a blood test. The only thing she is not keen on is having to wait around until it is her turn - too boring.
  13. We're fine, thanks though my hubby is a bit upset. The person who died is the wife of an old friend and ex-business partner. She was 57 and died during an operation to remove a brain tumour.

Bramley - the system is your operating system eg. Windows XP or Vista. You need to do a back up of your hard drive. You should do this regularly anyway so that you don't lose important stuff such as Darius photos, music etc etc if something were to go wrong with your computer. I'm guilty of not doing it often enough. The service pack updates often include security enhancements as well as stability and performance improvements - in theory it should crash less. You can back up your system by going to start/programs/accessories/system tools/backup (you may need to install the back up program first) but remember you need plenty of dvds or cds or flash drives to back up onto. Here are some instructions: backup instructions
  16. I'm making the most of an afternoon off work before a hectic weekend. Glad to have got my weekly food shopping out of the way. Have to be at the hospital with my daughter at 7.30am tomorrow (she's having her nose cauterised under anaesthetic). Then a funeral to go to on Sunday - back to work Monday.

Yes, thanks to Rachel for all her hard work over the years, keeping the forum going. I feel sad that it happened so abruptly so there was no chance to express appreciation for all her efforts on the board itself but hopefully she will read this and know. I hope too she is all right. Thanks Rachel.

I started on sister mother's site and we initially chatted via the guest book. I never got into street team

Heck! That was a bit sudden.
  21. That's understandable. He needs the reassurance of someone by him when he's frightened. Humans are the same.
  22. Oh no,Poor Dane, hope it was just a one-off. Must have been very scary for you as well as him. Hope he is calmer now and feeling better.
  23. Glad you had a good time Meg

Most local authorites won't accept CVs and with our authority, it's all based on points scoring - application form - on how well you respond to the competencies on the Job Specification and how well you answer the set questions at interview.
