Soaps can be great, as long as they keep a mix of humour and drama well ballanced. A few years back Eastenders went through a really miserable patch and I stopped watching because they dragged things out painfully slowly. I enjoy the soaps now, but prefer Corrie with slightly more humour in it than Eastenders. For those people who write soaps, just in case they are tempted to go back to the bad old days, be warned and don't! There are millions of people like me, who have enough misery and suffering in their own lives, they certainly don't want to endure it through their tv too!

OMG :o When did Darius sleep with 3 men :o  Even if he did it wouldn't make any difference to me, I would still love him, because he's such a beautiful, genuine and caring person with enormous talent(no puns please ladies  )

It wouldn't be a factor in an animated movie, but there have been many handsome bad guys in movies over the years Caroline, and if the opportunity arose, I think D would make a good one, though I'd prefer him to be a hero/good guy personally too!

Not sure where you have the Disney connection from Caroline, but it brought to mind an idea. D's deep, powerful voice and acting ability, would make for a very imposing, sinister bad guy in a Disney animated movie IMO. Lots of huge international acting stars appear in this type of thing, and I feel D's voice would be great in any role, but particularly for a villian :naughty:
  5. Thanks Sharon look forward to seeing it :)

I've missed the EMI info, could someone let me know what it is please? Thanks! :)
  8. I'm not sure I'd agree it would have been an insult to D to vote for him if he hadn't been good. We all know he has a wonderful voice, but if he'd had a really bad cold or had forgotten the words to an aria, I don't think it would have stopped me voting for him, or indeed most others on this site, though this is only my opinion of course. I'm just glad that when it got to the final, he got a fair crack of the whip, and when that happens, win or lose(but hopefully win ;) ) I can handle the result, just as D can :)
  9. Have a great time you lucky peeps! I'm off on the 6th, but at work at 6am on the 7th, so can't make it to this :( I could book a holiday, but I'm wanting to hold onto as many days as poss in case D does do a tour etc! Have a wonderful time, and take lots of pics(if it's allowed). Hope you get chance for a chat with the big guy too :)
  10. Now that would be some pic! Almost like a piece of art by Andy Warhol :D Look forward to hearing this, it should be quite interesting :) I know it will be completely irrelevent to him(apart from the fact that it will be doing well for this deserving cause), but if this makes it to number 1, would D have claim to a second number one single as part of his CV? Just wondering out of interest.
  11. LOL at Paul Potts  He's got a reasonable voice, not exceptional IMO. Lyn met him when she appeared live on ITV in the first series of Britain's Got Talent with our dog Jerry Lee, and she said every other contestant was friendly and lovely but that he wasn't very nice at all -_- Lyn's a lovely person, far more polite and easy going than I am, so for her to say this, he must have been a pretty miserable fella. I hope the charity single does brilliantly. It shocks me, that in this day and age, when an enormous disaster like this occurs, how long it seems to take to get supplies and shelter into place, and how much disorganization there always seems to be. People fighting each other for food, water and other basics :( but we would all do the same if it meant the difference between our own family surviving or not! On one hand I realise the scale of this horror and the logistics of co-ordinating the rescue/supply efforts must be mind blowing, but with all the machinery, equipment and experience available in the world today, you would think we could all do a little bit better for these people in desperate need :(
  12. If I remember correctly, she cried after she found out(I think while he was singing his early version of Chrysalis to Butterfly) and was comforted by Noel I believe. Had a bit of good news, as I won a small poker tournament at the local casino last night. Only half as many players as normal, but the £580 means I won't need to worry about the phone bill coming
  13. How graceful did they look together, and this was only accentuated by Rolando's impersonation of a chimpanzee dancing with Bernie at the other end  Bless him for trying though :)
  14. Darius' talent is clear, who of the others would have written and then performed a song in Italian? That being said, I don't speak Italian, so couldn't understand the sentiment of the song or indeed any of the lyrics. Also, it was lovely to hear him with just the harp, but I don't really feel this song showed his voice off to it's best. I love D and have enjoyed his performances on the show, but it's not the genre I want to hear him perform in the future, though this was more of a ballad than an opera style IMO. I feel, as with WGWT, it could be a message to his X(given the title) and whilst this is lovely(if it's the case) I'd have preferred D to do something else for his first performance after his win. I hope we can have an album of English songs, in however many different styles he chooses to incorparate, and that his win of this show doesn't steer his career towards classical and opera style singing.

I'd certainly like to hear his new stuff too Meg, but if he was able to do this quickly, it could hit top spot and would also alert people to the fact that he's got a new album out, leading to increased sales IMO.

If D and Blake combined to release a single, I feel it would most likely hit the top spot, with Blake's popularity and D's current exposure from PSTOS. I don't have enough knowledge of this type of music to make suggestions, but I know you guys will, so what do you think would be good? Obviously. this is all just speculation, but it's fun all the same :)
  18. We've had more tweets than I was expecting from him, but that may have been down to him wanting votes. It would be wonderful if he continued with it as well as keeping Rachell fully informed, so she can pass on the info as it becomes available. We've been a little spoiled with this deluge of D, after an 18 month drought, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed for an even busier time later in the year
  19. Wonderful to see the percentages and very interesting! In actual fact PIP, it was probably exactly that which did cause Darius to win. I'm sure Bernie had avid fans and family who voted in a similar manner to us, but if we hadn't voted repeatedly, it's likely D would have lost by 0.2% rather than won. It makes me feel terrific, to know that all the votes I and my family cast, along with all the numerous votes people from this site and other huge D fans too, made the difference. I'm not sure which site you are referring to, but I personally would like to thank them very much indeed, for giving me even more joy from D's victory Regarding the viewing figures, over 17 million people tuned in to the live Eastenders, so it's not surprising that so many made the trip over to BBC3 for the cast interviews that followed. For those still unflinchingly holding the opinion that Darius doesn't have talent, isn't popular and can't win anything, I hope you enjoy this enormous slap in the face, and pray it allows you to wake up to reality :D

If the show averaged 3.5 million viewers(which must be there or there abouts) it's likely a few thousand maybe as much as tens of thousand, were opera fans, but the rest would be people like me, who wouldn't have considered watching opera on tv unless there was something of a twist, which in this case was obviously Popstars to Opera stars. Surely if only 1 person(and I am sure the will be very many more) discovers a love of opera and wants to go see it live, then this show should be viewed positively! If the opera buffs or others who made negative comments wanted a more serious approach, they should lobby the BBC. If successful, they can produce a documentary over the 4-5 years or so it takes to become reasonably proficient(in some people's opinion) and then enjoy watching it with the other 20 to 30 thousand over on BBC3, but it will have significantly less impact/benefit to opera than this show has IMO. My only negative regarding the show would be that some of the artists comments from the mentors were OTT, and if their performances had been made in an actual opera, it's likely they wouldn't have received a fantastic reception from a group of paying customers, who are more familiar with what's very good and what's not.
  21. I've loved hearing D sing on this show, but I didn't want it to "inspire" the 3rd album, which I thought was already finished. My worst fear is that it's all going to be changed. Perhaps he will use 7-8 of his absolute best from this album and add in 3-4 new opera inspired songs. Either way, it means the album's release will certainly be delayed. I just really hope he doesn't spend too long "perfecting" it and miss the boat

I can't imagine that this will be the case Meg. He's put a lot into this show and as there was no particular prize, he needs to reap the rewards of winning it by capitalizing on his exposure(no not the zip incident :D) from it! We all know this, and D knows this, as do his management team, so I think it will be a very interesting, exciting and busy 2010 for Darius and us too

My sister is with Virgin for her phone line. I've given her some money towards the votes she cast for me, but told her to let me know how much more I owe. Is it very much more expensive from a non BT line  I know I've got a shock coming from my bill, as I completely lost track of how many votes I made. The only time I didn't vote was during the middle of the boy's duet, as I wanted to hear it, but started the second they had finished. Even with my sister's votes and the previous weeks voting, I don't think it will cost me any more than the few hundred I would have spent to go down for the final if I'd got tickets. God, I hope it doesn't anyway  I was annoyed at the end of the quartet, as they said voting would end immediately after they had finished singing but the lines were closed before they had finished the last note  I got a lines closed message during the last note and will have been billed, the same as I was for voting about 5 seconds early the week before  At least D triumphed
  24. I would guess the harsh and unpleasant comments we suffer from the media about D are replicated in different forms about many other artists of varying fields. We notice D's because we love him, but obviously aren't aware of how poorly others can be treated as we aren't following them so avidly, until their paths cross with D and we take a little more interest. It's completely wrong such negative attention, but hearing that KJ(and obviously others) have and are suffering the same type of things, makes me feel the tiniest bit better about all the nonsense we've had to endure about D over the years. That and the fact that DARIUS HAS JUST WON POPSTAR TO OPERA STAR
  25. I always do PIP
