Didn't know where to post this, but wanted to let you guys here know, I'll be making my (semi)professional debut, singing on Valentines Day, at Emilios restaurant in Nottingham, with my musical buddy Jon and a guest musician/vocalist Carl. We're performing three 45min sets, so if you're in or around Nottingham, you'd be very welcome to join us, for what will hopefully be a great evening! :)

Cowell hates people who are more funny than he is. Couple this with the fact that Will's far more intelligent and quick witted and you arrive at Mr C's attitude  Gareth seems like a really nice lad, but it was outrageous how much favour he was shown throughout Pop Idol. After Darius was voted off, I really wanted Will to go on and win. He burried Gareth in the final, the best example being when they compared the two versions of the winners single. It wouldn't shock me if Mr C was behind Will's exit as a judge, but as has been mentioned, he's just released another platinum selling, number 1 album, so I think he'll probably be just fine anyway Mr C ;)
  9. Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas Day :) OK report time. I won the auction for the charity meet&greet tickets with Darius and arranged it for Thursday the 22nd. Meg was kind enough to meet up and keep me company, and after insisting on buying my meal in the pub next door(thanks Meg :)), we moved in front of the stage door, awaiting D's arrival. I was expecting to say a quick hello as he passed, and then for him to re-appear later, so we could go in and do the meet&greet thingy. I spotted Darius arriving, and he greeted us with his usual big, friendly smile. He said he'd be right back, as he was just going to buy our tickets. A minute or two later, he re-appeared, and to my surprise, asked us through the security gate and on in to his dressing room. He told us to make ourselves confortable, and nipped away for a few minutes. He returned with a couple of friends, a lady called Karen and a gentleman called Kevin( who was the choreographer and fitness trainer from Fame Academy a while back). I'd seen Kevin outside, thinking it was him, but he looked so much slimmer and younger than I remembered him from TV, I wasn't confident enough it was him to say hello outside. He was dressed in black, immaculately turned out, and looked great. He seemed like a really nice guy, and was very easy to talk to, as was Karen. Darius poured out the Champagne for those that wanted some, and was kind enough to get sparkling apple juice as a non alcoholic option for those not drinking. He made a toast and we all smiled and took a sip. Darius popped in and out a few times, leaving Meg and I in Karen and Kevin's company, finally returning with some more guests. One lady who I remembered worked for Virgin Airways, had her Mum with her. There was also another lady and gentleman. I'm afraid the only name I can rememeber, is that of the gent, as his name was also Paul, I'm not good with names  I wasn't sure exactly if theses people were friends or just guests, or a combination of both, but they were all very friendly, and we chatted with them too. I gave Darius a Christmas card that Mum and Dad had sent for him, as well as my own, and also a CD of my images, that he'd asked me to bring if I was coming back down to see the show again. As soon as he'd asked for the CD, I was definately coming back down again :) We took a few photographs with D, and then he led us downstairs to the internal stalls entrance, so we could take our seats for the 1st half. He'd already said about returning to his dressing room for the interval, and we were to wait at this internal entrance for him to open it for us. The first half was excellent, and Darius in particular, seemed to incorporate so much more than my first visit of this run, in which he'd already been excellent! His timing, mannersims/expressions were wonderful, and with the audience being the most receptive I've heard at a Chicago performance, everyone seemed to be enjoying it as much as I was, although I did hear a rumour of someone falling to sleep at some point during the show :o We waited for the door to open, and returned to D's dressing room, for more pics. Once again D popped out, and it was only on his return that we discovered he was doing another m&g at the same time. The other people had left the room and just D, Meg and I were left. D told us we could leave our stuff in the room and collect it after the show, and Meg was just asking about the finishing time of the Friday matinee, when there was a tannoy request," can Mr Campbell report to the stage immediately please". D bolted and we made our way back down the steps, to go take our seats. We opened a door to our left and almost ended up on stage, closing it and then finding the correct one  The second half was as good as the 1st, and even though the star billing went to America Ferrera playing Roxie, D was clearly the star of the show IMO! I dissagreed with Meg about America's singing voice, in that I felt it was the same as the first time I'd heard her. Her acting was also the same to me, brilliant throughout! At times I felt she was too sweet as Roxie, most particularly when she put on her beautiful smile  and would have preferred a slightly more slutty portrayal, but that's just my opinion. Meg had to dash off immediately after the show, so I made my way around through the security gate to the backstage area, for my 3rd visit to D's dressing room B-) I knew he'd made arrangements for after the show, so I quickly congratulated him on what I considered to be his best performance in the role so far, and told him we'd see him tomorrow! I picked up my camera and laptop bag, and left a very happy bunny :) The next day, I met up with Meg again and had a lovely afternoon(after a nightmare of transferring hotels in the morning ^_^ ) and we took our seats for the matinee, after having said another quick hello to D outside. He hugged me twice, and I can honestly say, I've never hugged another man anywhere near as much before. It does make you feel special, when a star like D is so warm and friendly towards a nobody like me. After another great show, we met up with Nina and once again made our way through the security door to wait for Darius to come and say hello. It'd been a few minutes, so Meg made an enquiry about Darius, and was told to once again go on to his dressing room. She returned for us, and I thought I'd let Nina and Meg have their own time with Darius, as I'd already had more than my fair share with him, so I waited under the canopy outside. I heard a booming "Paul" from Darius, and then Nina popped back around the corner and said he wanted me to come in too :) That might not sound much to many people, but it really thrilled me that he's been kind enough to ask me back in again :) As I entered the dressing room, I noticed that D had put up the cards I'd left him the day before on his dressing table. I stepped forward to take a few pics of the ladies with D, and he then insisted that I get another with him. All too soon, we were back outside, thrilled once again with our interaction with a true gentleman indeed. We went to a pub for a quick drink, before Meg had to leave. Nina and I stayed for a bite to eat and then walked to the tube station for our journeys home/hotel. It was wonderful spending time with you ladies, let's hope we have many more chances next year to do the same :) Finally, I'd like to say a massive thank you to Darius for being such a warm and friendly host. There are very few like him in the world, and far, far fewer famous ones. It just makes you realise how very special a human being he is :)
  10. His last day is tomorrow Claire. I'd imagine he'll be flying straight home then for a family Christmas in LA.

I wasn't happy with it going for only £82, it's worth more than that just to see D, so I placed a max bid of £200 and got it for the £168. This is a great gift and it was worth a good amount of money IMO. Another reason to be excited about my trip down :) Thanks Sue :) Meg, did you get my pm?
  12. B.P. posted a post in a topic in Pop and Country
One minute to go and at a lowly £82 for 2 tickets, a back stage tour and a meet and greet with D, I couldn't let it go for that low a price :nono: LINK Just hope D doesn't think I'm stalking him

Sometimes you just have to give in to temptation :yahoo:, especially when it's for a good cause :) although I have to admit, it's not true altruism on my part   Happy Christmas to me :)

The truth is, if it weren't for Will being linked to the show, I probably wouldn't have even known about it! I don't like the fact that IMO he's been exploited for publicity, but it won't harm his career any by not appearing on this show. I'd guess BBC have another Fame Academy on their hands, which IMO was a poor attempt at emulating an already ailing ITV reality music tv show. Without Will, I don't think I'll be tuning in <_<

They already have! Danny who from what??? The show's a joke that not many will find funny! It's crap Will's been exploited like this, but good to see him shake it off so easily :) This show will miss him a WHOLE lot more than he misses it!

  17. Still not quite sure Nina. I'd like to see his last show, but I don't really want to pay full price for a ticket, so I might try and get a discounted matinee ticket for the Friday. I'll be around and about for both shows though, hoping to bump into D ;) Would you like to see the show again? My offer still stands :)
  18. I've just booked train tickets and hotels for 22nd+23rd of December, so Meg, Nina and anyone else who fancies a meet up down there, let's get together if we can :) I'll be taking my dslr(with memory card  ) so I hope I get a chance for some decent pics of D :) BT, can you make it down those dates at all? It'd be great to see you :)
  19. Cannot agree with that BT :nono: Live Twice should have been his 2nd number 1 ;)

Thanks Meg :) No I don't think Lyn would be too pleased if I missed our Christmas together to nip over to LA to see D  His first Family Christmas as a married man. I bet it'll be very special for him :)

Where's he working Meg? Are you free to say? I'm working nights New Year's Eve, but could be available Christmas Eve :D Well a boy can dream can't he
  22. Pics are fabulous Meg, thanks so much :)
  23. Will do Nina, it'd be great to see you :) He never said anything was secret Meg, and as he mentioned the orchestra in the middle of a number of other things, I think it's ok to post it here  I was alittle disappointed you could hear the underground, so loudly. At times it was drowning ot the solos, which really should never be allowed to happen. For me, everyone needed their mic's up around 10-15% for the songs, because the orchestra, though depleted from Chicago's previous incarnations, was really quite loud. Mum and Dad loved Chicago BT. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole thing and thought D was wonderfull as BF :) I'm just so pleased they were able to meet D for themselves and experience just what a gentleman he is :)
  24. Meg that's a really lovely pic of us, thanks for taking it :) It was great to see you again and I'm really pleased you went to see the show :) I probably should have said this last night, but I'm a bit clumsy with words sometimes. I thought you looked really well last night. On one or two occasions in the past, I've been a little concerned, as you have seemed not quite your cheerful self(not suprising given all you've ahd going on). With all you have going on now, it was great to see you looking so happy and relaxed, and wonderful to say hello once again :) Well what can I say? You know how some trips go wrong from start to finish, well this one(apart from forgetting my memory card ) was just superb from start to finish. I wanted to meet up and chat with D, have him say hello to my parents, try and get a pic with him and my parents, and finally, get him to sign a few pics for me. I acheived everything and more, as he'd arranged access for me to collect my picture file(which he'd taken in to sign) after the matinee in the stage door area. Having already acheived all I'd set out to do, I was expecting to just pic up my file and return outside to my parents. As I strolled around the corner, imagine my surprise to see a rather handsome, extremely tall, imacculately turned out, Scottish gentleman, sitting on the doorstep, signing my pics :) I spent a good 10 mintes with him, though I did tell him not to worry as he'd only 1 hour between shows, and that I felt guilty taking his time up. As usual, he couldn't have been more generous with it, and it was a real pleasure to spend a few minutes with him, even though after all these years, I was still a little star struck  Mum and Dad were bowled over with Darius, as I'd hoped(knew) they would be be :) They couldn't get over what a truly, lovely gentleman he was, and how down to earth he was either, even though I'd briefed them fully on plenty of occasions :) I'm definately going back in December Meg, so as soon as i know when, I'll try and let you know here, to see if we can say hello again :) Darius isn't sure of exactly whent the broadway run will be, but he did say it will be a 2 month stint. He also said that there would be a competition for tickets to see the show over in New York, including flights, so keep your eyes peeled for that when it is announced. I never win anything, but I'll have to have a go for this :) He mentioned he'd be either recording or performing(sorry memory not what it used to be) with the Czech Symphonic Orchestra(or something similar) and once again, that the album would be out in 2012! I've probably forgotten lots, but these are the main points. I f I remember any more I'll post it here :) I can't wait to go back and see him again :w00t:
  25. Have you seen it at the Garrick yet Meg? Why not go tomorrow if you've time?
