Never having seen Gone With The Wind, I was keen to view it, and Lyn kindly bought me it on dvd. OMG, it's such a sad film :o I hope the theatre show is a little more cheerfull or it could be very embarressing for me  I have to worry though because I am sure I saw it written that the book was darker than the film so...

I think I might have to make the effort and go to one of the previews :) I don't think I can stand to wait until it opens properly!

I quite liked the diary twist, with BF earning Velma's 5 thousand without her even going to trial :) At the 10th anniversay, I was dissappointed with how Duncan sang in the role. Having now seen the film, it seems clear to me that he was using Gere's performance as influence IMO.

:w00t: :yahoo:  :naughty:  If there is some kind of audience collaboration, and I was lucky enough to be selected, I would definately have a go :) though nerves would probably mean it was the worst I have ever sung  But I would embarress myself if it came to it, just so I could say that I have done it :) Well a boy can dream can't he :D

Well he sounded more like Elvis than the female one, but she looks more like Elvis, so I guess it's swings and roundabouts

Welcome To My World Deep in my heart there's a trembling question
  14. I saw the youtube clip that Carole posted at home this morning. She seems a genuine hard core fan, but she didn't sound great the little bits of her singing. I can't imagine many people wanting to see her TA

Well it brought back great memories of the show for me, but I have to say Richard did nothing that Darius couldn't have done in the film at least as well. I am including the tap dance in that because they cut away and showed his back so many times, it could have been anyone performing it.

He has a very strange twang when he sings in this, very much like that awful one of Dick Van Dyke's in Mary Poppins

There is an awful lot in the film is almost the same as the theatre show. God how old does Richard sound when he is singing?

When this movie was first on TV I tuned in to watch it not realising it was a musical  Both Lyn and I decided within 2 minutes it wasn't for us, but now D has played BF I am interested to see Mr Gere's version :)

:o Have never really listened to any Johnny Cash, but when I posted a good while back in this forum I seem to remember someone(Lonesome Cowboy I think) mentioning him. I said I would check out his music, but like so many other things, I didn't get around to it  I will make sure I do some time soon. Belated happy birthday Mr C :)
