Hold On To Now ● 3rd Single
Completely agree. Kylie has already done us so proud this era. Hold On To Now just sums up how I feel about Kylie in 2023. It’d be perfect as the next single.

Did you see her Dj set at glasto 2022? Hardly embarrassing. She went off!

Melanie C - 'Melanie C'
I would be here for it. 90s house references please.

Strictly Come Dancing • Series 21
Thanks Jade. Nice to know we’ve got a few in common there! I must make my top 5 too. I love Nigel too. His performances are emotive and he moves rather elegantly for such a masculine man. Graziano is usually my fave pro - but Vito might be stealing my heart this year. I’m not sure how I feel about Amanda yet. She’s a great dancer. But I have read a fairly problematic quote from her on drag performance.

Strictly Come Dancing • Series 21
I have to agree. She is absolutely an icon and a legend. And her foot work is great. But, harsh as it is to say … out of hold, her frame is not always as exemplary as those marks might suggest. Nonetheless she is more flexible than I have ever been. And I am inspired by her performance.

Strictly Come Dancing • Series 21
Thankful that the right person left this week. I’m surprised how much I’m enjoying this year. I didn’t feel strongly about any of the celebs to begin with. But there are some genuinely sweet personalities in there. My one to watch is Angela Scanlon. Fab performance this week. The song, the partnership and the choreo all did it for me. I’d love to know everyone’s faves - pros and celebs alike

Tension ● 16th album discussion
I’m absolutely on board with this point of view. It’s definitely a frivolous song but the quality is there. The production is innovative and slick. And Kylie’s vocals are really varied - that lower register for “But you know when you get it right”!! It’s such a good time.

Tension - Pick Your Single Choices
Hold On To Now Things We Do For Love Still think Love Train is an underrated banger though.

Tension ● 16th album discussion
Love Train was the one that grabbed me most instantly too! I’ve had it on repeat all day. Obviously Hold On To Now should be the next single though. This might be in my top 2 of Kylie’s albums. An amazing body of work. Confident, fresh, exuberant and original. Thank you Kylie. We don’t deserve you.

Radio 2 in the Park
Say Something was my stand out. The stripped-down arrangement made it really tender. The standard version of that song isn’t usually one of my go-tos. So I hope we get that version on a live album soon! The whole show was life-affirmingly joyous and stunning - as ever!

Oliver Heldens x Kylie Minogue - 10 out of 10
I was fairly content with 10 out of 10 as a buzz single at the time. But looking back, I’m amazed they called it a single at all, given the absolute gold they had in the pipeline!

The Best First Impression: Padam Padam or Tension?
Padam was an immediate “HELL YES!”. It felt like Kylie had found a fresh and compelling new direction. With Tension, I was instantly obsessed, just less surprised by it. It reminds me of Skirt in some ways (although it’s more evolved and refined). I suspect Tension may fare better in longer term replayability, for me.

Tension ● 2nd Single
I was immediately thrilled with Tension. It’s a no-brainier, radio-friendly banger. Stunning work from Kylie, yet again. I don’t think it’ll surprise anyone the way that Padam Padam did. But it is still fresh and original. I particularly love the 90s house piano jamming. Her vocals sound really youthful and clear. The lyrics are fun and quirky … as is the video! Couldn’t be happier with it all. Bring on the album!

Melanie C - AI Covers
That really sounds like her. Apart from the fact Melanie has never delivered such a lazy vocal. She would definitely have given us more emotion. There are some parts where the words get a bit muddled too. Haha

Melanie C | 2022-2024 Festivals & Live Events
Nice to see the Brighton crowd sing along to the spice hits. And the joy from Melanie herself when she was performing those songs. Seems like they went off really well this time. Also, was When You’re Gone performed solo at Brighton Pride? That seemed to work! Thanks for sharing

Victoria Beckham • General Discussion
Haha. Frankly, VB was a trooper to attempt to sing a melody to that beat. The rhythm is a mess. She must’ve had such a headache afterwards.

Love the clip with Mr Motivator. 90s legends only. Melanie C just does not stop. Constantly inspired by this woman.

Solo Spice Careers - General Discussion
Amusing and absurd as this has all been to read, I couldn’t agree more with this sentiment.

Victoria Beckham • General Discussion
It samples The System’s ‘Don’t Disturb This Groove’ (especially noticeable from 1:15). For me, it’s Victoria’s vocals and lyrics that elevate ‘This Groove’ above the original though.

Victoria Beckham • General Discussion
From what I understand from the Howard Hands YouTube video, This Groove was indeed a Damon Dash production. And it is good. But I’d say it was very much an outlier in terms of the quality of his work offered to Victoria. It’s That Simple, was the buzz single that was circulated ahead of This Groove (preceding Simon Fuller’s involvement). It is laughably poor production-wise. I’d say Howard Hands’ assessment is pretty accurate. By the time we got This Groove, Simon was back on board. So one could surmise that he had a hand in steering that ship. Also, the production relies pretty heavily on the song it samples/covers.

. Absolutely. He was using her to flog his jeans. She honoured her side of the bargain (which was quite a risk, given her fashion ambitions). But he did her dirty with those half-arsed tracks.

Victoria Beckham • General Discussion
I’d never realised the timing of Resentment. That’s the first time I’d heard about the connection to the alleged affair. If it’s true, it sheds a new light on the track. Victoria really laid it bare. What a woman. I love almost all of Open Your Eyes. Such a shame it never got a release. It seemed so ready. This Groove and Resentment are great too - arguably because of the lyrics. It’s quite misogynistic that Damon Dash felt it appropriate to comment on VB’s talent, given the standard of his output. He is clearly much less talented as a producer than Victoria is as a vocalist and songwriter. She may not be Mariah. But he is no Jay Z.

Spice Girls - 'Spiceworld 25'
I saw the Barbie movie and I had a very different experience. Overall, I found the movie to be a self-aware, intelligent examination of Barbie’s legacy. America Ferrara’s monologue about societal expectations of women was particularly insightful and inspiring. It was nice to hear SUYL. I was glad that it was included.
