  1. I’d love to hear more of Heidi’s gorgeous, soulful voice. She owns the chorus of ‘Caught In A Moment’. Wrenches my heart right out. I can’t really comment on how difficult it is to perform live or the factors that may come into play. But we all have the odd bad day at the office. For me, her talent is undeniable.
  2. For me, there was a layered, richness of sound in Northern Star, which I missed in albums 2 - 4. Beautiful Intentions had more of a focus on thrashing guitars, as that was her vibe at the time. But perhaps it was about the sound she was going for, rather than any budgetary constraints.
  3. ‘Better Alone’ was a bit too much of a downer (especially after the cynical edge of Next Best Superstar). I’d have liked to see ‘Last Night on Earth’ as the second single - to remind us that Melanie C is a fun artist. Also ‘Don’t Need This’ would’ve sounded great on radio. To me, it has a bit of P!nk’s ‘Try This’ sound. Admittedly, a much more budget production though.
  4. The only thing I don’t like about My Strongest Suit is the line “tonight my droppings will not be subdued”. To me, it sounds like she’s intent on taking a very noisy dump. What does “droppings” mean in this context? I don’t get it 😆
  5. This track took a few listens to grab me but I’m there now. It’s got a lot of the fun of Second to Midnight (controversially - my favourite Kylie single of recent years). Initially, I felt it was a bit of a generic dance track. I also found the vocal in the chorus overly sped-up (verging on chipmunk territory). But after a few more plays (and perhaps something in the final mix) those things don’t bother me anymore. I’m hopeful that radio will show some decent interest.
  6. Limbo for me. I wish more people knew it existed. It’s such an unexpected style for Kylie but doesn’t seem at all forced. It shows a darker, more expressive side to her. And the vocals are sublime.
  7. I voted for Surrender. With a dancier remix, I could’ve seen it as a decent single for the time.
  8. Iconic album. A few tracks near the end I’m less familiar with. Those are scoring lower on first listen, but I am looking forward to hearing them again. 09 Put the Needle On It 09 Creep 11 I Begin to Wonder 09 Hey! (So What) 09 For the Record 08 Mighty Fine 10 On the Loop 10 Push 09 Mystified 10 Don't Wanna Lose This Feeling 07 Vibe On 08 A Piece of Time 09 Who Do You Love Now 08 Come and Get It 06 Nervous 06 Just Can't Give You Up 04 Hide and Seek 06 Goodbye Song 10 It Won't Work Out
  9. I voted for Things Can Only Get Better as it’s only really discussed in the context of the album. And it’s basically unknown to the general public. For me, it’s one of Kylie’s most infectious and uplifting early tracks. I revisit it constantly.
  10. Metal Heart. It’s got sass. And it’s got soul.
  11. I voted for Summer of 99 and Love Me Hard
  12. Beat Is Gone is such a strong song but not single material. So Flatline gets it for me.
  13. Love Me Hard is perfection. Sugababes at their best.
  14. Ugly is nice but I don’t have an urge to see it live. For me, it’s a bit of a straight-forward, mid-tempo ballad. And my ballad needs would be more than met by Too Lost In You, Stronger and Love Me Hard (which bring all the drama and style). Just my opinion though. Glad Ugly has her fans!
  15. Perhaps a bit obvious, but I’d like to see this set list: Freak Like Me Round Round Overload Too Lost In You Stronger Hole In The Head Push The Button Red Dress Flat Line Love Me Hard Victory Boys Metal Heart Summer of 99 About You Now
  16. No Regrets better win this
  17. Haha! Is that the closest thing to a compliment Boys has received this round?
  18. These results are very interesting! Back in the Day was the first track I removed from my playlist. The lyrics are a bit twee for me. Boys, on the other hand, is a sassy lady. Could’ve been on Sweet 7 :kink:
  19. Flatline and Boys. Must admit I was a little surprised by results so far.

Love Me Hard (because it’s a work of art and album highlight imo) and Summer of ‘99 (because it’s really catchy). In any of the other rounds, I’d probably have voted for Metal Heart. But I didn’t want to risk it knocking out the other two.
  21. Very true that VB’s sound was more in line with the direction of the group at the time. But for me, I preferred when the group mixed genres a bit. As every single took us in a new direction. The idea of a third album campaign that started with a couple of group singles and ended up launching solo careers could’ve been very exciting though.
  22. I’d have liked to have seen, this run: Boys Love Me Hard Flatline Summer of ‘99
  23. I don’t think it could have happened. But just for the fun of it, these are my favourites: Holler Pain Proof Get Down With Me Let Love Lead The Way Mi Chico Latino What Took You So Long I Want You Back Like That Northern Star Goodbye

I’m Alright and Victory. Much prefer I Lay Down as a mash up. Back To Life hasn’t grabbed me at all, as yet.
  25. Loving this count down. A thoroughly enjoyable read. It brings to light some of the crucial album tracks and b sides that aren’t included in the This is Spice Girls playlist. They should probably remove most of the solo stuff (except maybe the most successful single from each girl tacked on the end) and include: • Step To Me • Take Me Home • Outer Space Girls • Walk Of Life • One Of These Girls • If You Wanna Have Some Fun • Get Down With Me • Voodoo Yes Voodoo. Because I actually like it. But then, I thought they were singing “Party line” for years. Like they were arranging a night out over the telephone party line, Mean Girls style. Lol
