  1. Normally I'd vote for WTWRG. But I've been listening to Second to Midnight non-stop since its release. So it got my vote this time. Must be that Biff Stannard magic.
  2. Literally an awesome photo. Im in awe of the fitness from Widnes 😛 She should be getting all the sponsorship from health and beauty brands right now. Who wants to look like a fashion waif, when Melanie C is looking like this?!
  3. They really should make a NGUOTGT one, as the single that never was. But Step to Me is the best one so far
  4. I was a little shocked that Headlines was all handled so badly. But the chart position wasn't a surprise by the time it arrived. I'm more shocked that Downtown got to no.3. I love Emma's talent but that wasn't a cover we needed. Still pains me that it wasn't Take Me To Another Town. My most shocking were Think About It and Anymore (both deserved top 40).
  5. I voted for If Only as my favourite book. I think the timing was excellent, because she'd just left the band. But also, she'd had much more life experience before the Spice Girls. So she had many ridiculous adventures to share. Who I Am is my second favourite book. But I haven't thoroughly read either of Mel B's yet. I voted for Victoria's as best artwork because, while obviously she looks stunning, it has the most tasteful typography.
  6. On the subject of artwork, I remember being so perplexed by Geri for the original Just for The Record cover. After revealing so much about her struggles with eating disorders in If Only, she then promoted this image glamorising being ultra thin for JFTR. I would've thought she'd understand the damage that could do. Of course, the alternative cover is not a good photo either. But that's just because you can't see that it's her. Conversely, I always found her books an interesting read. And fairly well written too.
  7. I reckon I'll end up with the 2 CD book again. I do like the design. And hopefully it contains some nice rarely seen photos.
  8. They might as well have just printed some Step To Me singles 😆 But will be glad to have Step To Me on streaming at last.
  9. I listened to the audiobook and I'm glad I did. I found it all really absorbing, thanks to Melanie's narration. She's very warm and sincere (and funny!). She has been brave to discuss all the hardships and I appreciate that. I loved hearing about her solo career, her approach to creating each album, dealing with limitations of self publishing and negotiating with affiliates. She's so clued up on it all. I'd say the editor has let her down in a few places. I'm sure Melanie knows the facts, but there are human errors, which an editor should catch.
  10. I'd bet on it being Melanie C and Victoria. Victoria's music career suggests she's more affected by failure than the other two. And Melanie C clearly wasn't feeling it at all. Not that I personally view Forever as a failure - it did great by the standards of any other UK artists at the time. I imagine Victoria would've been itching to get her solo album together too.
  11. I want a Christmas album too! Her voice is perfect for those classic Christmas songs. I would've loved a live recording of RAH tbh.
  12. My wishlist for a new tour: Add Step To Me, SND and WOMAN (with updated verse lyrics) If they do a cover, a group version of It's Raining Men might be fun.
  13. I wonder if a Spice Girls Christmas tour was ever on the cards. In any case, I hope to get to the Manchester date. RAH was fabulous and Emma's voice sounded better than ever.
  14. Fave: What Took You So Long (When You're Gone is close second) Least fave: Lift Me Up
  15. Sorry but it goes like this: 1. Northern Star 2. Melanie C 3. The Sea 4. Version of Me 5. Beautiful Intentions 6. Reason 7. This Time 8. Stages 😉
  16. I completely agree. There is such a sense of fun with all of her early work and it captures the sound of the time. Not intending to be derogatory with my four-year-old comment btw. I was thinking about how Locomotion and Lucky were so instantly accessible. And I'd imagine that universal appeal was absolutely by design.
  17. Best: Confide In Me Worst: 2 Hearts The 80s tracks do sound dated now, but they really hit the mark at the time (especially if, like me, you were four years old).
  18. Step Back In Time Although AIWD is close behind, for me
  19. Golden. For me, Kylie seemed to put more of herself into that album. There are moments of real depth and expression. But it also delivers some bangers too.
  20. I'm amazed at how little their voices have aged. They both sound fantastic!
  21. I didn't get to see her this tour. So it was unexpected for me 😏
  22. An unexpected choice for her to do on her own. But I think it works for her. Those ad libs make for an amazing end to the performance. She owns it!

Just got to the end of the second episode. Sh*t just got real. Shows glimmers of potential. But it's still very slowly paced.

Watched the first ep. Was fairly boring. Lots of long shots of people looking thoughtful or sad. Left with little clue how most of the characters are related to the plot. Feels like a soap opera at the moment, that has a murder in it. Will try the second ep, for the cast alone.
