    Cheers Mikey! :)
  2. Doesn't Scotland also come out as one of the worst diets in Europe? There is more and more evidence to suggest a direct link with cancer and poor diet. Given the amount of money being pumped in, is it not possible that there is more to it than just the NHS going to hell in a handcart as the doom mongers would love us to believe?

  10. 'The Velvet Underground and Nico' was their first LP in October 1967. 'The Velvet Underground' was their third LP (after 'White Light, White Heat - June 1968) in April 1969.
  11. I bought my first CD player in 1988. I bought two albums - ABC's 'The lexicon of love' and Big Audio Dynamite's 'This is Big Audio Dynamite' the same day.

Thank you for the votes everyone! How am I going to live up to that?
  13. This censorship is happening because these events took place abroad. If it had happened over here the parents would be getting far more criticism, but the media would far rather blindly defend British people abroad and criticise foreigners than get at the truth. Xenophobia pure and simple.
  14. Actually, thinking about it, I think the one word that is most misspelt on Buzzjack is definitely er… definitely. It's not definately, definatly or any other bizarre combination of letters that spring unbidden into your head - it's definitely! (Sorry, having a bit of a Stephen Fry moment there!)
  15. I thought it would be interesting to see the chart at the time of Elvis's (and Marc's) death. 01. (04) The Floaters - Float On 02. (01) Brotherhood Of Man - Angelo 03. (31) Yvonne Elliman - I Can't Get You Out Of My Mind 34. (19) Emerson, Lake And Palmer - Fanfare For The Common Man 35. (21) The Sex Pistols - Pretty Vacant 36. (**) The Boomtown Rats - Looking After Number One 48. (**) La Belle Epoque - Black Is Black 49. (**) JALN Band - I Got To Sing 50. (**) Black Gorilla - Gimme Dat Banana "Way down" had gone 46 to 42 and probably wouldn't have progressed any further but for the tragic news. It was the second single from the "Moody blue" album. The title track had reached number 6 in April. Fortuitously for RCA they had reissued 16 singles in picture sleeves in June - no less than eight of them would re-chart at once at the beginning of September. The chart is also notable for the number of punk and new wave hits in the summer of punk. Some would establish themselves with a string of hits, for others this was their peak. The Rods (alias Eddie and the Hot Rods), Mink De Ville, The Adverts were having their finest hour while The Boomtown Rats, The Stranglers, The Jam and The Sex Pistols would go on to greater things. Interesting that at the same time as punk the first stirrings of electro-pop were evident with Moroder's "I feel love", Space and Jean-Michel Jarre all charting.

  18. Just looking around Buzzjack in general there seem to be certain misspellings that occur again and again. An obsession with the letter A: excellant, independant. Using 'of' instead of 'have' or 'with': should of, bored of. These are surely ignorance rather than keying errors in the heat of the moment. Any others you guys see again and again?
  19. I added three albums (see post #12) that seem to have subsequently disappeared. I guess the wrong list was copied and pasted. Here they are again. 23. Discovered this at a car boot sale recently. Kraut rock by Michael Gottsching. They were formerly called Ashra Tempel. Bit like Tangerine Dream, but with guitars. I'm really enjoying it. http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/I/51Z0IdFRzgL._SS400_.jpg For the most part I'm with Rob - I seem to accumulate far more singles than albums. Some recent faves include: Glen Campbell - Satisfied mind / Can't you see I'm trying? - jangly folk rock from just before his Jim Webb period. Mercury Rev - In a funny way - sublime wide-screen pop, only from 2005 but I missed it at the time 2Pac with Dr Dre and Roger Troutman - California love - a chart hit but I've only just come across it Barry McGuire - Why not stop and dig it while you can? - only known for 'Eve Of Destruction' but he did several great 45s The Detroit Emeralds - Ode to Billy Joe - early US single from 1968, cover of the Bobbie Gentry hit
