  1. Drake's album still not showing up on the iTunes Albums chart, even though it now is in the UK :o Has to be deliberate and not an error with new releases because there's a new release by Jacob Whitesides today (Feb 14th) that is showing up at #6. EDIT: Finally showing up at #1 & #6. Wonder why they withheld it from appearing?
  2. It's been practically 24 hours, that's no error
  3. Maybe iTunes are annoyed it's not exclusive to them (it's on Amazon too). The F&TM pre-order went up yesterday and that's showing up.
  4. But all of Drake's tracks are showing up in the iTunes chart/feed. So the fact that the album isn't showing on the iTunes albums chart must be deliberate. They must be losing a lot of casual sales today.
  5. BILLBOARD: Drake's Surprise Album Heading for No. 1 on Billboard 200 Chart Billboard (February 13th, 2015): "Drake's surprise album If You're Reading This It's Too Late is aiming to become his fourth No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. Industry forecasters expect the set -- which was released late in the evening on Feb. 12 through Young Money/Cash Money/Republic Records -- to easily bow atop next week's Billboard 200. While it's still a bit early to get a proper projection on what it might sell through the end of the tracking week on Sunday, Feb. 15, sources have floated figures as high as 400,000. Thus, If You're Reading This will block its fellow Republic Records release, the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack, from No. 1. The latter, which bowed as planned on Feb. 10 and was on track to open atop the chart, could sell upwards of 160,000 copies (with its overall album equivalent figure aiming for 200,000)." http://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/...board-200-debut
  6. HITS DAILY DOUBLE: Sales Preview Update: Drake Unleashes a Monster Hits Daily Double (February 13th, 2015): "Drake’s If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late (Young Money/Cash Money/Republic) will debut at #1 on the HITS Album and SPS charts next week, spoiling what looked less than 24 hours ago like a slam dunk for the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack—but the marketshare goes to the same place, so Republic can’t complain. What’s more, the surprise mixtape could see first-weekend sales of 500k." http://hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=294666

  8. BILLBOARD: 'Fifty Shades of Grey' Soundtrack Aiming to Tie Down No. 1 Billboard (February 11th, 2015): "The Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack is off to a steamy start, as industry forecasters suggest it could debut at No. 1 on next week's Billboard 200 chart. Sources say Fifty Shades of Grey -- released on Feb. 10 through Republic Records -- may move over 180,000 in overall equivalent album units in the week ending Feb. 15." http://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/...dtrack-number-1
  9. Not showing up on US iTunes either. Must be deliberate because I am seeing movement on the albums chart (Florence pre-order down to #3).

  15. Where does everyone think Fifth Harmony will fall to next week?
  16. Because the purple colouring highlights British and Irish artists  As to why, it's because (for example) Westlife doing well in the UK & US would garner the same amount of coverage in the UK whether they were from Northern or Southern Ireland.
  17. Aloe Blacc was whinging last year that he made pittance from Pandora for co-writing "Wake Me Up". There's clearly no money to be made from songwriting with streaming (at least on Pandora), but the songwriter will (usually) earn more than the artist from sales and airplay :o. I'd love to see Spotify's breakdown.
  18. When you factor in X Factor, it will be 2016
  19. Maybe it's because with less tracks you stream what's there more. Eg, at the cinema, there will be more showings of a 90 minutes film than a 3 hour film, so theoretically, they could make more money in a weekend from the shorter film.
  20. I know that, I'm just backing up AcerBen in the misquote in the BBC article. ie, 2,500,000 streams would be 25,000 in the singles chart.
  21. Isn't the singles chart divided by 100 though?
  22. I'm not sure if I believe this because artists and songwriters are always whinging that they don't earn as much from streaming as it's alleged.
  23. So it's not going to have that much of an effect.
  24. MUCH better system than Billboard, but I'm not sure I understand this "down-weighting" they refer to  Does it mean they ignore the 2 most streamed tracks, average the other 10, then multiply the average by 12 ?And for a 10-track album, ignore the 2 most streamed tracks, average the other 8, then multiply by 12 as well ??I presume the "standard version" they're referring to is tracks common to both versions of an album.
  25. This is the first time since the inception of TEA & SEA (10 weeks ago) that the week's biggest selling album isn't #1 on the Billboard 200. NOW 53 sold 99,324 copies but enters the chart at #2.Taylor Swift's "1989" sold 76,769 but remains at #1.I couldn't care less about NOW 53, but it will be interesting when an artist album loses out on bragging rights. Could you imagine what would happen if it was Kanye West who lost out? Can't see it happening, but it would be funny and would probably result in an instant change by Billboard in their chart methodology
