  11. ROBBIE WILLIAMS - ‘RUDEBOX’ Ok then back to basics… Robbie Williams returns to business with the release of a brand new single ‘RUDEBOX’ on September 2nd through EMI. ‘RUDEBOX’ is the first single to be taken from his forthcoming new studio album, which will follow soon after. ‘RUDEBOX’ is a nasty, dirty, bass infused electro-funk-pop monster produced and written with fellow Stoke On Trent natives/compadres Soul Mekanik aka Danny Spencer & Kelvin Andrews. “RUDEBOX is wonky pop music, influenced by the underground,†says Andrews, “It was just three lads from Stoke having fun in the studio, no rules and no knobheads.†Forged around a sample from Sly & Robbie’s seminal ‘Boops (Here To Go)’ and twisted around his own unique visceral lyrical stylings, the result is the sound of our Rob jamming the electro-boogaloo on a bustling New York street corner in 1983. The sound is unmistakably fresh, and unmistakably Robbie Williams! It could be no other. “RUDEBOX is loads of different things, sometimes it could be a vibe delivered in a spaceship direct to the studio, sometimes it’s a really nasty girl dancing scantily clad, or sometimes it’s a giant Soundsystem…Sometimes it’s actually just a box that tells you to f**k off! too†adds RW. ‘RUDEBOX’ sets the tone for the album which as previously reported also see’s Robbie collaborating with the likes of the Pet Shop Boys, William Orbit and Mark Ronson and a host of others, on both new original compositions and covers of some of his favourite tracks. This is perhaps the most definitive Robbie Williams opus to date, where his truest personal and musical inspirations collide to create an intimate and explorative sound that will surprise some, but after eight albums, this here is the sound of Robert Peter Williams, born 1974 in Stoke On Trent, UK. “They might say its “dance†or it’s “electro†but it’s just what I like! It started off as a busman’s holiday this time around, but it’s become something on which I’ve found myself. I was just doing my YTS (youth training scheme) up till now,†he adds. ‘RUDEBOX’ has begun to blaze a trail of its own right on dancefloors across the world, with early mixes and dubs from the likes of Soul Mekanik, Chicken Lips & Riton already receiving support from the likes of Pete Tong (UK’s Radio1), James Hyman (XFM), and DJ luminaries as broad as Sasha, John Digweed, Trevor Jackson, Erol Alkan, Boris Dlugosch & Sarah Main to name but a handful. The initial white-label release has already charted in the highly respected Buzz, Cool Cuts & Zzub club charts and continues to grow on a daily basis. RW is in the midst of his record-breaking ‘Close Encounters’ World tour that hits Australia in November. Do the RUDEBOX, get your rocks off, lose your $h!t and get nasty… The single ‘RUDEBOX’ is released September 2

  15. The thing with Rudebox is that it leaves a lasting impression on the very first listen which means that most people will either love or hate it fist go....in my opinion its not the type of song that a 'grower' so to speak. I still think though that it will be a huge hit.....defo Top 10 but I'm hoping for the Mega Big Hit. :D
  16. With anything that Robbie does, rock, pop, swing, dance, covers -whatever- it always has that Robbie touch to it...he re-shapes any type of music to fit with his own style and puts his own stamp on it. I dont think its necessarily that Robbie is doing a dance album as such that is exciting, but its that type of music with the unique Robbie twist that I am looking forward to hearing.
  17. I though the 'dressing room wallpaper' shot was lovely, photography at its finest....lol....I hope the bugs have gone now. :D
  18. LOL! well said jupiter. i enjoyed reading your rant, although i would describe more as 'fact' than 'rant'.
  19. EMI enthuses over its releases hemscott.com Music group EMI took time off from its bid battle with Warner Music to assure shareholders at the AGM that trading is going well. The reassurance was needed after a European Court ruling regarding Sony dampened hopes of industry consolidation. Chairman Eric Nicoli told the AGM of his confidence that the global music industry has excellent long term prospects driven by the rapidly expanding demand for digital music. He enthused: ‘We are enjoying impressive creative momentum, have exciting release schedules for both divisions, are generating very high growth in digital sales, and are on track to deliver the cost savings from our latest restructuring plan.’ He described the planned release schedule for the remainder of the financial year as broadly based, comprising a healthy mix of global and local artists and encompassing both long-established and newly emerging superstars. The highlights include albums from The Beatles, Norah Jones, Robbie Williams, Janet Jackson, KT Tunstall, Joss Stone, Chingy, Stacie Orrico, Keith Urban, Trace Adkins, Dierks Bentley, RBD, Relient K and Renaud. Nicoli repeated the company line that the most recent offer from Warner, 320p a share, was ‘wholly unacceptable in the light of EMI's prospects, the potential synergy benefits of a combination of the two companies and the range of strategic options available to EMI’. He said EMI’s own offer of $31 a share for Warner ‘could be very attractive to the shareholders of both companies’. The stand-off continues. Nicoli took a cautious view of a European Court decision this morning to block a Sony BMG joint venture. This overruled the European Commission, which had given the go-ahead.. ‘It will require detailed study before any wider conclusions can be reached,’ he said. Concerns that further consolidation in the industry, including a tie-up between EMI and Warner, would be clocked sent EMI shares sharply lower. Towards the close of trading they were down 26p to 280p.
