You just have to look at the massive decline of the physical singles market over the past 6 years to see thats not true. The time of the physical single as a mass marketing tool has passed, as did cassettes and vinyl before it. People today want to be able to sit at home at any time of the day or night and buy the singles they want. Why give up that simplicity and go back to buying in a shop?
Times are changing, you have to give up the idea that by restricting a consumers choice it will encourage them to back an outdated medium. I'm 20 and I already don't know anyone who doesn't have an MP3 player, either as a stand alone or as part of a phone. No one I know still buys physical singles and hasn't for years. Surely its a good thing to get people involved in music no matter what the format?
wow, a big difference between the two charts then, a lot higher new entries and morrissey no.1!! The physical charts starting to look awful without downloads, a lot better with them in, in my opinion!
thanyou for this Mikey
Hey, I was just wondering if anybody had the physical singles sale only chart? It would be interesting to see how different it is from the integrated and download only charts, especially this week with Gnarls Barkley getting to no.1.
Thankyou in advance!
