  1. A much better set than 2008, even if it does tend to feel that stuff like 'Shark In The Water' and 'New York' always go through but then never qualify for the top 35.
  2. Probably the least impressive set of qualifiers so far. Poor old 'Pocketful Of Sunshine'. I know it wasn't a UK hit, but I always get optimistic that it's well known enough (and you know, amazing enough) to get through anyway.
  3. Ashleigh's 'Aye. Good' in reaction to Helen getting chants was GLORIOUS. I was starting to completely give up on her developing a personality, but I'm excited to see how she develops now. I also enjoyed Danielle looking like a stone cold mess when trying to comfort Jale.

  5. Very happy to see the back of Pauline. I was beginning to wonder if her being quite quiet for the past few days meant she was settling down and becoming more bearable, but the interview Emma really did just prove otherwise. Not that pleased with Toya having the power, she's just getting worse and worse, and people's reasons for choosing her seemed quite hilarious considering she's probably the least rational person in there. Would happily see her go this week. Mark and Matthew are quickly becoming my favourites. They're just so funny together. I've had some doubts about Kimberley this week, but the way she handled that stupid thing with Helen about showering with Winston has brought me back around. Going off Ashleigh a bit though. Edit: Posted this in the wrong thread. Oh well.

  7. Grace as a person was quite horrific, but as a housemate was brilliant. Really BB7 could have done with keeping her for a few more weeks. I'd name people like Carole, Ziggy and Billi from BB8 my most hated. What an awful series that was. Special mentions to Jason from BB5, Charlie and Bea from BB10, Dave and John-James from BB11, Lesely from BB6, and Spiral and Sezer from BB7.
  8. As with 2006, not a bad selection but most of the best songs are far too low. Especially disappointed for 'The Magic Position' which I remember was quite close to qualifying last year.
  9. Steven really is just utterly pathetic. That clip of him crying while Jale when in hysterics in the diary room is probably the highlight of the series so far. I'm so confused as to why so many of them seem to hate her. We've seen literally nothing to justify it. I'm genuinely impressed she's handling herself so well though, in her position I think I'd have called Helen out for being so bloody stupid by now.

  12. Another mixed bag. I feel a lot of the very best tracks missed out, but it's nice to see 'Deja Vu' through. I'd say it's probably Beyonce's most underrated 'big' single. The Kooks and Razorlight tracks are bloody dreadful though.

  14. I've spent the past 2 days gradually catching up with the series so far, and I actually don't think I've been this hooked since the show was on Channel 4. Not that keen on the Power Trip twist so far though. I was actually hoping it meant they might take on elements of the US format, but right now I wouldn't be surprised if they quietly dropped the idea in a few weeks. I feel like they've tried to go for more intelligent housemates this year, which is definitely a good thing, and makes it more of a proper gameshow. Favourites at the moment are Jale, Kimberley, Chris and Christopher. Toya was up there, but she really needs to distance herself from Pauline and co because she was initially hilarious. I feel like there's too many of them right now to be honest, especially for just a 10 week run. Ash and Ashleigh feel especially quite pointless. Very happy Tamara went. Type of girl with nothing to her. Pauline will presumably and hopefully go on Friday. I'd be quite happy for Stephen and Helen to stick around for a few weeks because they have potential to be good villains, but I feel Pauline is just ruining the potential dynamics of the show.

A surprising winner! It's not a song I really listen to that regularly, but it's perfectly inoffensive enough. A decent top 10 really, the terminally awful 'Unfaithful' aside. If anything I think I'm more disappointed that one of Christina's most forgettable singles has beaten some gems from All Saints and Jamelia.

  24. Surprised to see Goldfrapp miss out. I thought it was a really quite noticeably absent from the list of automatically qualified songs! As with 2004, the qualifiers could probably be a bit better, but there's nothing too bad there.
  25. There's nothing horrendous about that set of qualifiers, but it's a shame to see stuff like 'Dumb', 'Not In Love', 'Dip It Low' and 'Afrodisiac' lose out to some fairly mediocre Girls Aloud and Britney covers.
